The death of the comic strip

It's a sad thought but with the decline of newspapers, comic strips are also going the way of the buffalo.

I was thinking about it this week and I couldn't name one NEW comic strip for the past 10 years. Which means they either don't exist (which I doubt) or that my lack of reading the paper comes with an even bigger problem.

I used to loved reading the comic strips as a kid. Sure most of them were lame but there were a few good ones in there I could always depend on for a laugh. But how are comic strips getting noticed these days?

Sure the older ones are kept alive in trade paperbacks and found memories but after our generation will they still be as popular? I doubt it.

Just something I thought about this week.
