Happy Birthday to me

Another year another birthday! Nothing big planned but spending time with my 3 girls! Woo-hoo! And believe me....they can party all night...well, 2 out of the 3 can. : )

June Movie Preview!

We now take a break from your regularly scheduled post to bring you a short preview of what movies are up and coming for June!

 Man this movie looks terrible....now if I can just convince Megan to think the same thing I won't have to go see it.

 ZERO interest. Saw X-Men 3, that was good enough for me.

 Not even Liam Niesson can get me to see this flick. I MAY wait for Redbox but only is Megan has a free coupon she needs to use. This looks HORRIBLE!

 Nope, passing on this one as well.

 I always hate seeing a reboot even after they had a successful straight to DVD franchise going on that kept the original voice of Chucky the entire time. Though I like Mark Hamill (and know he'll be channeling his "Joker" voice from Batman for this) it still turns me off due to it being a reboot.

 HA! Looks fun but I think I'll wait for this one to come out at Redbox too.

Now THIS is a movie worth looking forward too! I've enjoyed all the short DVD movies which have come out since 3 and can't wait to see what's in store for my favorite toys in this 4th installment!

Can it beat 3? I don't know, though I probably said the same thing about 2 when 3 came out so we'll see!

Best board game that begins with L

When I was first looking at my collection I thought this would be a hard decision, then my eyes found this game sitting on the self and I stopped looking at any others that began with L.

This horse racing game is loved by everyone! Nephews, gaming group and even Megan! It keeps knocking on the door to get into my Top 10 BEST games of all time and who knows? Maybe this will be the year it does!

I love how you don't have to own a single horse, just have the right bets placed to win. So much fun to have everyone yelling and cheering towards the end of the game. It feels like a real race!

Best board game that begins with K

Man I love this game! I hate the expansion never came out because this game is great. Worker placement while building up your own alley AND making deals with other players to assist you in crusades or finishing them on your own. But don't forget about the viking attacks!

Another game that has a million paths to victory in it. Ever since I learned how to play the game right, it's been at the top of my list. Awesome game!

Best boad game that begins with J

Yeah....you see I recently discovered that this is the ONLY game in my collection that begins with a J. So it wins by default. i even went online specifically searching for other games beginning in J that looked interesting.....I found nothing.

This game isn't bad, in fact its one of the few games my Mom has even played with my wife and I. The Mrs loves it (which is always a good thing too) but hopefully I'll find a replacement for this spot later on as more board games come out.

Moto G7 Power

They say this battery last for 2 to 3 days without a recharge WITH excessive use.

Believe the hype.

I just got it Thursday and only right now and finally recharging this sucker. And for the past 2 days I've been streaming Youtube and Amazon Music through it. AMAZING!

LOVE IT.

Best phone I've had in years. Why isn't this more popular in the mainstream!?

Best board game that begins with I

When Kosmos offered to send me some of their games I wasn't impressed with their selection. But this one had the highest rating on BGG so I decided to give it a try. Surprisingly fun game! I enjoyed it more than I thought I would and so did my gaming group!

Good pieces, sold game with loads of replay ability. Not many game in the "I" category, but this one is good. 

Best board game that begins with H

Not the prettiest board game but definitely the best H game I've played. It uses a rondel (something I'm finding more and more enjoyable in board games) and is based off actual historical events. What more could I ask for?!

Plus it doesn't hurt that the pieces to the game are of some of the best quality out there! Clay for bricks! Bells that ring! Can't ask for more!

Best board game that begins with G

Another no-brainer when it comes to this letter. I've played this game a LOT since I've gotten it. It's a wonderful game that plays different every time I bring it to the table. So much going on in such a simple game of opening up and booking rooms for guests. I wish it had an expansion but I have no idea what it would be about so I guess I'm just going to have to be content with what they have.

Best board game that begins with F

Another letter that has several good games but for me there's no contest with it comes to Firefly. One of the oldest games in my collection and STILL a favorite of not only mine but my gaming group! Simple pick up and deliver with some engine building built it. Sad they don't make expansions for it anymore but seeing as how the show only went one season and had a movie I guess I should be thankful it had so many in the first place!

Best board game that begins with E

It was the first game in my collection that came to mind without even looking at my shelves. This wild worker placement game is incredible as each worker does a different thing, depending on where you use them.

Absolutely phenomenal game. I'd love to play this with 6 players one day.

Best board game that begins with D

Lot of great games that begin with D but this game where you customize your own dice is a heck of a lot of fun! I' getting the expansion in a few weeks and I can't wait to try it out. I hear it gives you more choices with the dice and that's always a good thing when it comes to this game!

Best board game that begins with C

There are a LOT of good games that begin with C. Catan, Ceylon and various other in my collection but I believe this one still tops them all. Easy to learn and fun to play. I enjoyed the sequel too and am looking forward to the third expansion/game coming out later this summer.

The Golem edition I hearing is good but I haven't played it yet. It's just like Spice Road but with a different theme so I probably won't ever get it.

Survivor Island of Idols

Thank goodness for little baby girls who keep Daddy up at all hours of the night!

Ok, so this new idea for the season. I don't get it. You bring back to players who....are camping out on an island, roughing it....but not playing the game?! I don't understand.

As for the Idols themselves, Sandra Diaz is about as legit as they come when it comes to females on the show. Dominating twice under heavy competition, she's a powerhouse and not one to underestimated in the game.

Boston Rob....meh. I mean he won but after how many tries?! 6?!?! How is he good at Survivor when he's lost so much. I can think of several other people who'd probably win too if they were given enough opportunities. Sorry, he's not a pro, he's lucky to have so many friends at CBS.

But (as always) I'll be watching the season with great interest in the fall.

Survivor Exile Island Review

Here we are at the end of another fun season of Survivor and Chris is our winner, though it should have been Devin but there was nothing he could do in the end, which is sad. His game play got better each day he was out there and I (like many others I know where watching) loved him for it.

I have to admit, fooling both girls with fake idols was one for the Survivor highlight reel! Unbelievable that he pulled that off!

So let's talk about Exile Island and our winner. First off, Exile Island started off as a very cool idea. You were hoping to see more of the people who got voted off and continuous challenges like you saw on Redemption Island years ago.

Instead, we got 2 challenges and hardly ANY footage from the island. I guess because it was boring? And though I like Chris did we even get to know him that well?! Hard to root for someone you didn't see play half the season.

The idea for Exile Island was a dud. They should have utilized those folks more into the story. Give them challenges that would give their allies in the game a secret advantage. Or have them show up to tribal to vote someone off Exile even! Wasted opportunities and potential in my opinion.

What do I think about next season? I'll give you my thoughts in another post tomorrow. I'm beat!

Best board game that begins with B

I hate sounding like a broken record by here we are once again with Stephan Feld taking the lead! At times I don't know which is better between these two games. Bruges has the same various decisions but it's all based on how you use your cards.

I hate card based games....but I LOVE this one. Another game that badly needs a reprint because it is so much fun to play! Ok, no more Feld games going forward....I don't think I own anymore either.

Best board game that begins with A

I love me some Stephan Feld and this is one of his best (in my opinion) I love how you drop cubes into a tower and choose your actions from there. GREAT game with lots of decisions to make. Every time I play it I love it more. So happy this one came back in to print so that more people can enjoy it as well!

Best Board Game that Begins with...

So, for the next couple of weeks I thought I'd go through my collection in alphabetical order, talking about the best games I own by each letter! Some games I own currently haven't gotten enough play as of this post so it's possible this could change next year but I'm going with what I have for now.

But today I want to start with games that begin with a Number so...

Such a wonderful 2 player game that I don't get to the table as much as I'd like to because I never have just 2 players over at game night. Shockingly fun and cheap to play....and for full disclosure, the only title I (now) have in my collection that begins with a number....so yeah there's that.

Baptism Day!

 Today the girls got baptized!

 Mommy though they were super cute in their
outfits today.

This was their first time out.

 No one cried during it, the girls slept the whole way thru. The closest anyone came to cring was Mommy right here.

 They had a big day and have been sleeping well al afternoon because of it.

Dr Pepper Dark Berry

As you all know, I'm a big soda fan and I like trying new flavors. So when I heard about this new one from Dr Pepper, I was interested. Megan was too since she's newly become a huge Dr Pepper drinker.

Final thoughts? It's a great beverage! I like it better than the actual drink! Wouldn't get it all the time but it'd be nice to have every once in a while. If you see it at your gas station, try it out!

Things I hate doing (5)

I hate re-stringing the weed eater. I do it almost every year and they purposely made it the hardest thing to do in the world. Just when you think you have it the whole ball becomes unraveled. It's such a mess and when it happens in the middle of a yard cut, you're hot, sweaty and have zero patience for it.

Things I hate doing (4)

I hate working on my roof. I do it more times than I'd like to admit. It takes forever, I hate heights and no matter how many times you think it's the "last time" you're up there the next year working on another section instead.

It's not just roof tiles, it's creaky turbine vents (every year) that send you back up to the roof. And getting down....did I mention I hate heights?! More times than I care to admit, I end up just jumping off the roof than trusting my feet to find the ladder going down backwards.

Sucks.

Things I hate doing (3)

I hate having to return on item. I do it all the time because I have to but whenever I'm there the line takes FOREVER and there's only 2 people in line most times I go! One person behind the counter is NOT HAPPY to be there and it's written all over her face. You can feel the hate they have for their job the moment you get in line.

Terrible customer service and long waits never make this a fun trip, which is why I hate doing it.

Things I hate doing (2)

I hate painting. I never do it anymore because it's either the wrong color, or it doesn't look like what it did at the store or on the can. Sometimes after HOURS of painting you see a spot you missed....the next day. Or other times it needs a second coating because the first one wasn't good enough.

I hate it so much I refuse to paint anymore. Nothing. Rooms, furniture or anything. Also, Megan hates the smell, so there's that.

Things I hate doing (1)

This week I though I'd gripe a little about things I don't like. 

I hate hanging things on the wall. Shelves, pictures, frames, you name it. It sucks. Everytime it's either off center, not high or low enough or a little more to the left or right. It's never perfect. It takes forever to do and it's not worth the hassle. I hate doing it.

More grumbling to continue tomorrow.

Cinco de Mayo

Another holiday I never celebrated that much. I don't drink and eating Mexican is an every day thing for me. Like having a holiday where you eat hamburgers, it's just not that special.

Never really went out for this day either. I once attended a party in college that was half-way fun but other than that, this holiday means nothing to me.

Hand in hand

 When they were first born the nurses brought them together and I saw them grab eachother's hand and calmed down instantly.

 I missed the photo opportunity back then but when they did it last night I was able to snap a shot of them doing it.

Momma loved it. She said it "broke the cute scale" Of course, she is a little biased.

That's what they call these things. Totally ridiculous but they work.

Star Wars Day

I never really celebrated this day even before Disney bought the company I never cared for it that much.

As a Star Wars fan, I thought the pun was better than any "celebrations" that occur.

What a Wookie

Peter Mayhew, the man behind the mask of Chewbacca, passed away yesterday. People across the internet are expressing their condolences as I will do as well.

He got the role when George Lucas saw how tall his was. The only thing he did at the audition was stand up and Lucas hired him on the spot. He landed the role of a lifetime, which defined his career.

I hate to speak ill of the deceased but towards the fans he wasn't the best.

I met him in 2005. He seemed bored with each person coming up to his table. Smiling shortly when they were finished, signing autographs, posing for photos without getting up (this was before his surgery when he could walk) and looking past you to the next person in line to let you know you needed to move on.

This was a complaint I heard from several people at cons going forward. That he wasn't friendly at all but seemed more bothered to be there than anything else.

It is sad he's gone but he'll always be remembered for his role in 1977.

Oreo flavors you should try

Here's a few flavors that are worth your time checking out if you like these cookies.

This is the best of the bunch! I love Dark Chocolate and that it came in an oreo is okay with me! Megan wasn't a big fan of them so I ate most of them. I'd get them again in a heartbeat!

Nice, refreshing and minty! Though you won't be able to eat that many at a time, these are really good as well. I'm a fan of chocolate mint so this is the perfect marriage of flavors for me!

Recently bought these last month around Easter. Megan wasn't a fan though she loves carrot cake. I on the other hand really enjoyed them and would get them again, though I haven't seen any since Easter, I'm thinking these were maybe a seasonal thing.
