Congrats to Texas

After a full month of no mask mandate....numbers are down 50%

MASK DON'T WORK

Records from my youth (5)

I was a huge Chipmunk fan as a kid and this was the only album we owned as kids. We listened to it so much when I took it from my parents years ago I was crushed to see how badly scratched the album got over the years.

I'll admit, it was totally our fault as kids but I was able to snag a cheap one on Ebay that plays great so it doesn't matter.

Spineless

As states with mask mandates show an overwhelming surge in new COVID cases our Governor has decided to keep the mask mandate intact, thereby giving us a better chance at having our numbers go up too!

Don't mention Florida and Texas dwindling numbers since they removed their mask mandates. (no one else in the media wants to mention it) and also Miss. Governor showed his state has also dwindled in number of cases since his removal of masks, proving once again that these things are pointless and don't work.

I hope we get a petition signed to have a re-vote on Bel-Edwards. I PROMISE he wouldn't win now and he knows it.

It's the best way for him to stop towing the party lines and do what's RIGHT for our state!

New ZOMBIES!!! Kickstarter tomorrow!

I'm all in on this one!

You better believe I'll have another card made. Don't know whether it'll be one with the girls or not, but it should be fun.

I can't wait!!!

Man oh man. Another album that got a lot of play back in the day! Though I don't have the album anymore I DO have the CD now. I remember finding it at a Half Price Books for $1 and couldn't believe it!

Megan sat there and watched her husband spaz out the whole way back from Dallas singing the most ridiculous songs ever. "Have Patience" is a good one but its hard to pick my favorite since I love them all so much.

FACT: 8 of the top 10 states growing the fastest are all under Republican Governors.

FACT: The states with the highest unemployment rates are Hawaii and California. (D) States.

Now all we need in Louisiana is a decent Republican candidate to run against our joke of a Governor.

Records from my youth (3)

Oh my word. THIS was the album we listened to an excessive amount back in the day. Bray used to mouth out the words and do a dance to the song called "Mad" which had us rolling on the floor every time he did it.

He'd even put on performances for mom, dad and any guests we had over at the house. Our copy was too badly scratched over the years but I was able to snag a copy years ago at some flea market years ago, though I've forgotten where at.

Still a solid album which has the original Mr Cooper on it!

Mail came at 6:58pm last night.....it's like they make a bet how late they can take to deliver your mail.

Ridiculous.

Records from my youth (2)

We never had this album growing up but it was at my grandmothers and whenever we visited for the holidays or over the summer it was just about the only album that ever got played. We loved it. SO many good songs I remember singing at the top my lungs back then.

I was able to track down a copy at an antique store in Foley AL and was thrilled! I need to pop this one and dance around the room with my girls like I did when I was little.

Records from my youth (1)

I thought I'd talk about old records I used to listen to as a kid and what I loved so much about them.

I'm pretty sure we picked this up at our local McDonalds back in the day and listened to it all the time. It's a birthday album, with "games" included on the track. "The Hamburger Roll" was probably my favorite album on the track. A 50s style song that's pretty cheesy but we didn't mind it that much as kids back then.

I still have the original album today in my collection.

Grosse Pointe Blank (Re-watch)

Just re-watched this last month and have to say, it's STILL a "10".

Flawless movie. Action, story, and there's not a wasted scene in the whole film. The acting is great and it's still as good as the first time I saw it. I showed this to Megan the first year we were married and hadn't watched since but one night while trying to find something, I remembered this and wanted to watch it again.

SO glad I did. And you should too. Especially if you haven't seen it before.

Family Force 5

I don't know if I've ever talked about this band before, but I've been listening to them for about 15 years now and I have to say they're one of my favorites bands out there. Rock mixed with a great sense of humor at times. Right now "Time Stands Still" is my favorite album, though their debut self-ttitled "Family Force 5" is pretty good too, as is "III"

Check them out if you're into that sort of music.

CDC : What sceince?

Former FDA Chief just admitted there was no science or studies to back up the 6 foot social distancing rule they've been enforcing for well over a year now.

As if this comes as any surprise with anyone who has half a brain. They don't know what they're doing.

Queen's Gambit (Review)

On the recommendation of a friend of mine, I decided to give this mini-series a shot and I have to say, I was pretty impressed.

The story revolves around a fictional character Elizabeth Harken who tears up the Chess league in the 60's. It's beautifully written and shot and worth your time even if you don't care about chess. The period is well done in the series and Netflix didn't skimp on the money for each episode. Engaging the entire time.

Glad I gave it a chance!

Fail

It has to suck when you run out of excuses as to why your state still hold a mask mandate while all the neighboring states around you have not only dropped theirs but are showing numbers just as low as yours.

What a joke our Governor is.

Masks don't work (even more proof)

Why vaccinate?

I'm not against it, but if they're telling people they still need to social distance and wear masks afterwards....why get the shot in the first place?

And does this mean they don't believe the vaccine works? Not exactly sounding like a vote of confidence if nothing changes after you get the shot.

Hypocrites abound

John Kerry, the latest democrat of the "Do as I say not as I do" edition of people who don't wear masks when they think nobody's watching but chastise others who don't.

Seriously, there's a million of these examples. But the news buries their hypocrisy because it doesn't fit their narrative.

Godfather Coda (Review)

I got a chance to watch the re-edit of Godfather Part 3 that came out last December. It basically, cuts a few scenes out and other shorter to make for a tighter film. While that's all good it sadly keeps all of Sophia Coppella scenes, which as embarrassing to watch.

Overall, I didn't like it. It cut short one of my favorite scenes at the end, so next time I go through the trilogy again (which I did AND it was great by the way) I won't be viewing "Coda" ever again.

Have a good weekend folks!

The man who knew nothing

Why people still believe the lies of this power hungry pathetic human being is beyond me. He can neither back up his claims with science or facts.

What a joke.

Soul (review)

Watched this a few months ago and forgot to give a review but I thought it'd be awful, turns out it was just ok. I'll never watch it again and it'll be a forgotten Pixar movie by the end of the year but I believe it's worth watching once.

MS vs LA

In MS, anyone can get the vaccine. The rollout's been smooth. In Lousiana.....it's been a disaster.

On the plus side our numbers are even with MS.

On the negative side, MS isn't afraid of a 97.7% Survival rate and is open 100% with no mask mandate.

In Louisiana, our Governor would rather tow the party line than see his state succeed.

Shame on Louisiana for living in fear.

Could it be anymore clearer??

California has lockdowns, strict mask enforcements. Still experiencing high cases of COVID.

Florida. No mask mandate. Open 100%. LOWER number of cases than CA.

LOVE how no one wants to talk about the elephant in the room.

For what it's worth

Wonder Woman TV Series Review

I remember as a kid, watching this show and only being interested in when Linda Carter transformed into Wonder Woman. Other than that I thought it was boring.

Well, I decided to watch it again during lunch breaks for something to watch while I ate and....it's worse than I remember.

The stories make little to no sense. And towards the end of the series Diana Prince doesn't even bother wearing glasses most of the time meaning the only difference in her look is whether her hair's in a pony tail or not. Really shoddy.

The stories are far fetched and borderline weird. Like one where a lady can control ants....who eat the wood inside buildings....like termites?

The last episode was an attempt to reboot the series by moving Wonder Woman to Los Angeles, where she teamed up with an indestructible man and monkey as well as a kid who doubled as a human vending machine for one of the highest spy agencies in the US.

Oh and how did she get a job with the IADC? She hypnotized one person and got in. Having access to all the deepest secrets the government had to offer. Some security we had back in the 70's!

The first season took place during the 40's where Nazi's were the villain. But to cut on costs, they had to move the series to the present time....sadly it didn't improve the story. In fact, the first season is really the best overall. The invisible jet and wonder girl are featured in a few episodes in the first season too which makes it a little more special.

Overall, the only good thing about the series was Linda Carter. She was hot. Only reason to watch it and you shouldn't watch it. Just check out pics of Linda Carter instead. Much better than the series.

The Pointless Pick up option

Sooo.... it takes 4-6 hours to complete a pick up order. Why?

I thought about doing it the other day but because the wait was so long I decided to just go up and get it done by myself much faster. I've only tried pick-up once and it didn't go well. I had to wait 24 hours (for a can of WD-40) and when I went to pick it up (after finally getting my notification) they didn't have it.

So while I was there, I just went to the section of the store, picked it up the shelf and just bought it then and there while they processed my refund for buying it remotely.

What a joke this service is!

Top Baseball Card designs

Today I thought I'd talk about the cards I loved. Since I got out of the hobby back in 94', don't expect their to be anything mentioned after that year.

91 Stadium club was a beauty of a set. Loved the elegant look of these when they first came out. Definitely a head turner when I first saw them.
94 Fleer could be one of my favorite sets of all time. I LOVE the look of these cards and all the painted cards which came with it. I really need to dig this set back up and look it over again.
I don't know why but the Donruss 91 Studio set blew me away the first time I saw it. I feel in love with these cards and thought they were some of the finest I'd ever seen! Still think they look good today!
Lot of memories around the 92 Fleer set. Loved the look of these cards as well as the painted renditions they always did as well. Plus I have 2 unopened boxes of the Update set which contain Mike Piazza's rookie card. Worth up to $200 a box, I bet they wouldn't net me more then $60 in today's market.
God Bless America. I love the 86 Topps set so much! This was the very first time I got into the hobby and I absolutely loved the look of these cards. Many, many hours were spent just looking over each one. I think that's why this is still my favorite design of them all.

Man, so many other good ones I may consider doing this again sometime in the summer. I miss this hobby!

Baseball Cards

I also miss collecting baseball cards. I tried getting back into the hobby a few years ago but the awful customer service from Topps convinced me to quit for good.

I miss opening up a pack of cards and seeing what's in it. Trying to complete a collection and going to a card show was a huge part of my past. Baseball cards just aren't worth it anymore and that's a shame. With Spring Training kicking back up, I'm back to thinking about this cherished childhood memory.

Comics

I wish I could get back in to collection these but I know I never will. For one, the stories have gotten worse over the years and it appears the imagine and creativity is largely gone.

Also, they're $5 a book now which is too expensive a hobby to take on. I have so many memories of buying them back in the 90's as a kid but I guess those days our gone.

What ever happened to the small book store?

Sure they're still located in the bigger cities and yes people aren't reading books as much as they used to but we had (at one time) 5 book stores in our city at one time and now all we have is a crappy Books-a-Million which is one of the worst in the nation.

I miss the old Waldenbooks days!

Insert Coin (Review)

I've watched a lot of documentaries on video games. So when I heard there was one out on the rise and fall of Midway Arcade Games, I had to check it out. It talks about their humble beginnings in the late 80's  to their domination in the 90's and eventual fall soon after the decade ended. It was interesting to see.

The new gen consoles of Playstation was the wake up call that arcades would soon be a thing of the past. I remember saying that myself when I saw the consoles coming out. That the graphics were as good as the arcades. I wondered what the arcades would due to counter and I got my answer. They went extinct.

But the reasoning behind it makes sense. It was a pretty interesting documentary and well worth you time if you played any of those classic games of theirs in the 90's.

Big Games of days past (8)

Of course you knew I was going to mention the biggest annual tradition of all time right? The Santa Bowl went from 2001-2015 and was epic while it lasted. SO many great stories and games to talk about during it's 14 year run that sadly ended when I had to travel so much and there was no one to plan it while I was away.

Would I like to bring it back? 100% but this is going to be hard. If I didn't have a play to direct this year I would've attempted. One BIG block in the way is that I think someone lost all of my equipment for it so I'd have to buy everything all over again. (Not ideal) But who knows, maybe next year I'll try to give it a shot and resurrect it once again!

That's all folks! Have a good weekend!

Big Games of days past (7)

Every May we used to play something named "The Big Game" it landed the weekend of the Confederate Conference where we had enough participants for 2 full teams! It was a lot of fun but after the conference folded it didn't last but a year or two later until we finally stopped it. It was adults vs kids a lot of the time but the adults knew they were getting too old to keep up and bailed out before things got too ugly.

Would I like to bring it back? Absolutely. Baseball's my favorite sport. Why wouldn't I want to bring this one back??

Big Games of days past (6)

A LONG time ago we used to play an annual game of kids vs adults in basketball. It didn't last but a year or two if I remember and the adults killed us every time. In fact, I think the reason we stopped playing is because the adults knew we'd eventually start winning every year moving forward.

Would I want to bring it back? Yes, but I'm so old I can't hang on full court like a used to so it'd be embarrassing, but I'd still give it my best shot!

Living in Fear

Texas opens 100%, drops mask mandate. Mississippi does the same. Louisiana (with less COVID cases then both) Only 50% with Mask mandate.

Bel Edwards is a coward. He is a man who wants to tow the party line even when it means destroying his state's economy.

He's a petty dictator. I can't wait for the next election to get him out of our lives for good.

Big Games of days past (5)

Another "one and done" annual game I tried to get going was the "Quest for the Check" Every September I thought we'd get together and play putt putt golf for the chance to win a phony cardboard check!

And again.... I won. I'd never won on that course before but that time I did the best I'd ever done! Like the Turkey Bowl, I still have the giant sized cardboard check we used for it.

Would I like to bring it back? HECK YES!! I love putt putt but the course here closed so there's really nowhere good to go anymore, so I guess it'll have to wait until we find a new course.

Big Games of days past (4)

For one year I tried to create more annual games to play and one of those was in November. It was called the Turkey Bowl.

I had an actual bowl covered in turkey stickers as the annual trophy. The first and only one we played... I won. I was amazed because I've NEVER been good at bowling though I enjoyed it. That night I was on my game. Getting splits and strikes almost every time. Highest score I ever had!

Would I want to bring it back? Yes. It was a lot of fun.
