The Daily Whiner

 I check this site often.

I read its articles from time to time.

But in no way do I agree with these people 100%

I find them to be quite hypocritical at times.

This is one of them.

For the past 6 years we've seen nothing but praise for Trump. Someone NONE of them voted for, wanted, or even thought could become President. They even advertised an upcoming special on their streaming service called "Dinner with Trump"

But the moment they caught wind that he was seriously running again, they turned on him overnight.

Now only negative articles about him. It's clear they want Desantis. I see why. I get it. He's a good guy, but to totally go all -in on "Never Trump" is SO hypocritical that I have to roll my eyes every time I see the evidence.

Whine away Daily Wire. I've only voted Republican twice in my life for President. Both times Trump....because he's not really a republican. I'd vote for him a 3rd time, sure. Maybe even Desantis. But don't think for a moment I won't be on the lookout for a 3rd party candidate that best represents me.

I refuse to accept a 2 party system is the "only" way we should vote.

Mountain Dew Fruit Quake

 Found it. Tried it.

It's Fruit Punch. That's all.

Very disappointing, since last year's Gingerbread flavor was much better.

But at least I tried it. You shouldn't.

Unless you like Fruit Punch.

Smile (Review)

My nephews claimed this was the scariest movie they've ever seen.

It's not.

By far.

In fact, it's so generic that it follows the same beats as every other horror movie out there these days. Let me summarize.

1) FEMALE star witnessed someone die at the hands of the entity but doesn't believe her on what's going on.

2) Weird things start happening to our lead.

3) She does a deep dive into the murder she witnessed at the beginning to find more clues.

4) Scary things start happening to our lead.

5) She is able to establish a pattern for the events

6) She finds and speaks to the ONLY survivor of these events who made an impossible sacrifice to stay alive, but she refuses to accept its the only way.

7) Reaching the climax of horror, our lead knows she will die soon but discovers a solution no one has thought about before

8) Final showdown with the entity as she destroys it.

9) At the end it seems she's found peace only to find out, her plan didn't work, and she dies.

10) You sit there as the credits roll....if you have less than half a brain you're rooting for a sequel, if you have more than half, you're cussing out the complete waste of time this movie is.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Plantasm (Review)

Back in the day I was a fan. The series went a little too long in the tooth and got boring towsrds the end but overall, I have good memories of the series.

Now comes a NEW movie (because no franchise can ever die) I watched it and it's ok. It kind of plays like an good episode that goes on too long.

Sure all the supporting characters from the series make cameos but the overall it's just ok.

Would I watch another movie? Meh, maybe. Not sure. If you're a fan of the series, go ahead and try it out. If not, skip it.

Bogus Friday

Again, I'll be surprised if I see any "good deals" this year.

This holiday has become a giant sham. There's never any good deals. It's been years since I've purchased something on this day. I doubt I'll purchase anything this year either.

But it won't be for lack of trying.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!!!

There's no better holiday for me! Though most of America these days generally ignore it.

I have more than enough to be thankful for this year. And for personal reasons, this one will be extra special.

I hope you and your have a wonderful day!

CRYSTAL PEPSI IS BACK!

One of my YouTube subscribers ended up being one of the 300 winners who got a 6 pack of these and he graciously gave me one.

I am SO happy to know this year I'll be tasting a Crystal Pepsi (perhaps for the last time) But when to drink it is the question?

I have 3 choices:

Thanksgiving: My Favorite Holiday. It seems perfect to end the day with a drink!

Christmas: Obvious Reasons. Tis the Season and all that!

New Year's Eve: If I don't do the first two I'll for sure drink it to ring out the year.

Either way....it's going to be a blast!

$oda Price$ $oar

 Good grief.

Just a year ago a 12 pack of can cost $3. Now it's $7. Incredible how fast inflation hit sodas. A 2 liter went from $1 to $3.

Needless to say this has caught our consumption down considerably. I'm going with the occasional 2 liter or just dollar tree purchase here and there.

Probably the biggest thing inflation has hit our household that I know of.

Beavis and Butthead (new season review)

Finished watching the latest season last month.

Wow. They still got it!

Earlier I spoke about how good I thought the new movie was, but an entire show? I was cracking up the entire time. Something about these characters by Mike Judge that are just timeless.

If you get a chance to see it, do it. It's just as good if not better than the original series.

Weird (movie review)

It's not UHF but it's still pretty good. This isn't an autobiography, it's a satire. And it's excellent. If you loved any of Weird Al's music from back in the day, you'll love this one.

Well worth your time to check out.

Terifier 2 (review)

I'd heard about the sequel and the complaints by customers who found the movie "too gruesome" it's actually the reason I decided to watch these movies in the first place. To see what all the hype was about.

What's it about?

Nothing. Just hype.

Same gore as the first maybe a little bit more, but I've seen better and this just does it for the joy of showing gore on the screen. Like the first movie it's excessive and unnecessary a lot of the time.

But like the first one, it does have a good scene where the star is being harassed by Art the clown in a manner that's creepy. So they still got that going for them I guess.

Overall, these movies aren't worth the watch. Just watch the highlights on YouTube and move on.

Terifier (review)

Heard a lot about it and decided to watch it for Halloween weekend a few weeks ago. The story behind this I believe is that this was a crowdfunded movie that achieved "cult" status over the years and got a sequel just this year.

The first movie really only has one good scene. It's the one I'm showing above where he's starring at the stars of the movie.

They do this a few times during the movie. "Art" the clown never speaks but rather stares or smiles at folks. It's a really creepy concept that works.

What doesn't work is the excessive gore. Gore so common in the movie that it really gets old after a while.

Overall, it's a basics slasher film with a few creepy moments.

The 2nd one? I'll talk about that tomorrow.

Bullet Train (Review)

Watched it last month and really enjoyed it. It was well paced, funny and action packed. Really good movie with a twist at the end that appears a little forced but since the movie is so good you don't mind.

It IS worth your time to see. There's a few brief cameos that are enjoyable and appear to be payback for the cameos Pitt has made in recent movies.

Loved it. Worth the watch.

Dukes of Hazzard: Gone Racin'

Never knew about this until last month.

Bought it.

Read it.

Loved it.

It reads like an episode from the show. It has narration, humor and excitement, like all the episodes did. But best of all, it FIXES continuity issues!

In season 5 the actors had a contract dispute with the show and left for the first half of the season. They were replaced by their "cousins" Coy and Vance. The Dukes were said to have "joined the NASCAR" circuit.

But since they were on probation the entire series, this didn't make any sense.

This book explains it all and it does a great job doing it.

Loved it from cover to cover. Fans of the series should get this. It's worth the read!

Top 5 Hardbacks I'd love to have

I love hardback novels. But not all Star Wars books came out with hardback versions.

Today I wanted to count down my Top 5 I'd love to have in my collection!

5) Galaxies: Ruins of Dantoonie

Not a good novel and the cover is one of the worst EVER made, but only because it's one of the few books that aren't in hardcover, it's added to my list.

4) Crosscurrent/Riptide

A duology that was never collected into one hardback. Again, though it isn't the best story, I'd love to have a copy for my collection.

 3) Junior Jedi Knights

I have Young Jedi Knights in hardback, I think adding the children's novels into an omnibus would be great.

2) The X-Wing Books

I've always wanted this excellent series collected in hardback but they never were. It'd be a 4-in-1, 3-in-1 and 2 single hardbacks (costing close to $200 I'm sure) but it'd be worth it to have them all in hardback!

1) Lando Calrissian and the Starcave of Thonboka

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a fan of these novels. The 3rd book in the series never came out in hardback and that's ALWAYS bothered me. Because of that fact, this tops my list easily.

Have a good weekend folks!

Most divisive president?

I hear this a lot about Biden. He's the president who's divided the country worse than ever.

Not true.

This man started a war between the states. Making him not only the worst President ever but the most divided as well.

Kit Kat Pumpkin Pie

 Yes it sounds disgusting.

Yes I bought it.

It taste like pumpkin pie. It's so weird.

I LOVE pumpkin pie. But I'm not sure I'll try it again. I'd rather have the real thing.

But it was good.

Way to go Kit Kat.

Waving at the camera

Remember when people used to wave to the video camera whenever they saw one?

I watched an old video someone posted to YouTube that was from 1992 where strangers kept waving for the camera as they passed by.

It reminded me of something EVERYONE did back in the day but don't do anymore.

I'm guessing that's because we all take video and its nothing special these days. But back then?

Dang. Wild times!

Weezer Autumn (review)

 Geez to frag!

Forgot to post about this one when it came out, so I thought today I'd give my thoughts.

This one may be the best of the series yet. All the songs sound like the "Green" album, meaning they all carry a nice beat and is an enjoyable one to listen to.

Best song on the album is "Tastes Like Pain" which incorporates classical music. Really good.

Now all that's left is for the final one, due out next month. Looking forward to seeing how it ends.

Weezer still remains an amazing hard working band that I continue to enjoy to this day. They've stood the test of time and are still good after so many years!

World Series Thoughts

I can't say the worst team won because for the first time EVER in a World Series, I couldn't find it within myself to cheer for either team.

My brother went for the Phillies only because we would've had 10 different teams win in ten different years.

Yeah, ok. I see that. But I hate the Phillies too.

(Sigh) One more match up like this and I may skip watching the World Series altogether.

I hate Houston.

THE REAL ANTHONY FAUCI - THE MOVIE 🎬

Gotham Girls (review)

Another Web-series from the WB that ran 3 seasons from 2000-2002.

It stars Batigrl and the 3 villains you see. It was made for little girls and there aren't much to these shorts. The don't utilize the interactive abilities of Adobe Flash as Lobo did but Season 3 was one big story arc told through mini-cartoons.

These web series had the same writers who wrote for Batman so they are legit DCAU but may not be worth watching.

Of the 2 series (both of which are found on YouTube) I think I like Lobo better. But I'm glad I got to see them both.

Sunday, November 06, 2022

Look who I met earlier this week.

Yep. It was a local city dinner and I went to represent Chase.

Only one who took a picture with him before he left to his next appointment.

I took it for work. They wanted something to brag about in the newsletter.

I'm glad this guy can still smile after putting hundreds of small businesses OUT of business the past few years.

Awful Governor. But at least I could fake a smile when needed.

Nothing to see here!

It's been 3 or 4 years since I've seen a deal I thought was worth it.

I'm doubting I'll find anything today either.

But I'll keep my eyes open none the less!

Have a good weekend folks!

About time

Artipia Games is FINALLY giving the fans what they want by making the latest expansion a stand alone purchase for fans instead of making them buy the "big box" version of it all over again.

A good move because I was interested in this game but was NEVER going to pay over $120 for a copy!

It's due out late December....which means it'll be available late March.

Have a good weekend folks!

Lobo Web Series (Review)

 WOW!

Another piece of the DCAU I never knew existed has to deal with one of my favorite characters.

Lobo.

Featured in the Superman series shortly thereafter he was given a web series on the WB site.

And get this.....it's rated R.

Cussing, adult humor and VERY violent. The 14 mini-episodes consist of 3 story arcs that are all fun (in a LOBO kind of way)

As you'd expect with Adobe Flash cartoon from back in the day, the animation isn't that good but there's plenty of moments you can interact with the cartoon which makes it special.

I wish I would've know about this back in the day. I know I would've loved it. Seeing it now, it's very dated, but not enough that I can't enjoy it. In fact...it's better than Static Shock or Zeta but that's not saying much.

The whole season takes 31 minutes to watch and is on YouTube if you're interested in the Main Man.

Batman: Chase Me

I'm a big fan of the DCEU, so imagine my surprise when I was doing some research on it, only to find out they had a short come out way back during Season 3 of the original show!

It's about 6 minutes and is a silent film about Batman chasing Catwoman around Gotham over something she stole.

Though not much to write about, it was fun and because it was short I can recommend it to any fan of the series.

You can watch the entire short on YouTube.

All Saint's Day!

I wish more people celebrated the holiday. It goes well with Halloween and I have more fun on this day than the other.

But that's ONLY me I'm sure.

Whether you celebrate it or not, have a good All Saints Day folks!
