Donkey Kong Card Game (Rules)

May Movie Preview

Ok....I'm ready..

Didn't know about this. Just watched the trailer....yeah, I'm interested. It can't be any worse than the Lord of the Rings trilogy....right?

Ryan Reynolds is in it!!!!

Yep, and if he wasn't we wouldn't be talking about this crappy movie. PASS!

Have you SEEN the previews for this movie?! They look awful! I loved the cartoon but I'm with the public on this one and have no interest in seeing it.

Megan said she's not interested, which means I don't have to watch it, which means I'm happy to watch it on Redbox....with a free coupon....and free time to do something else while it plays in the background.

JOHN. WICK. 3.

Oh yes...I will be seeing this one. To be honest, this is in the running for best movie of the year for me because I loved the first movies so much. Really hope this final one is the best of the all!

Dr Visit

The girls went to see the doctor today. This was their feelings about it for the entire morning! Seriously. WHY does it take 2 1/2 hours to get their first check up? My girls we poked, prodded and then once we'd gotten in the car, asked to come back for MORE tests!!

Ridiculous.
Thankfully they got to be treated by a number of guest, one of those was their cousin Regis who was extremely happy to see them.

Worst Christmas Ever

One year I was sick for the holiday. I felt awful. We showed up at my parents house that morning and opened gifts. Then I went back home to sleep, came back for dinner, then went right back to bed. No one should be sick on Christmas Day. It ALWAYS sucks!

And that's it folks! Hope you had fun this month as I counted down my best and worst holidays of the seasons!

Have a good one!

Twin Story 3

Here are my girls leaving from the hospital on Saturday. They look like cabana girls. But Megan loved it.

I won't lie, it's awesome having them home. Feels great to have a fuller house than when we left.

Twin Story 2

These girls LOVE their Momma. Let me tell you.

No matter how hard they're crying, Momma can always calm them down. And it's instant each time.

I'd be lying if I said the Mrs didn't love it. It's one of her favorite things about the girls....and she has over a million things and counting about what she loves about them.

Twin story

So now that I'm a Dad I have to talk about my baby girls. At the hospital this week I placed them next to each other....
...and within a minute they were like this.

Like putting my heart in a microwave. Melts.

Best Christmas Ever!

Oh man, this is an up and comer for "favorite" holiday for me. The past two years I've REALLY enjoyed the holiday putting it right behind Thanksgiving Day as my 2nd favorite.

But I think I know which one I loved the most. 1986. We were kids and Dad bought us each an entire box of baseball cards. So get this, instead of opening up a couple of presents that year, we got to open an additional 36 packs of cards!

It was amazing. We sat there, trying to build sets out of them (and got pretty close out of 3 boxes for 3 sets!) I remember a few years back we re-created the experience again, using old baseball card boxes from 1987. It was a blast but can't beat being a kid and having your eyes go wide when you're looking at a Dwight Gooden or Dale Murphy in your hand.

What a Christmas!

Mom's doing fine. : )

Worst Thanksgiving Day Ever

There is no such thing as a bad Thanksgiving Day

Last day before becoming a parent

In less than 24 hours I'll be a parent. It's a lot to take in. Of course I have the doubts that a lot of new parents have I'm sure. Will I be a good Dad? How do I handle "X" situation when it comes along?

But the most important thing to keep in mind is to enjoy the moment as it is and as they come.

I'm super excited to meet my girls. I love them even though I haven't met them yet. Maybe I'm a parent already.

Here's to the next level in life, I'm sure it's going to be the best!

Best Thanksgivng Day Ever!

This is a hard one for me since I love this holiday so much and it's hard to choose which one was my favorite but I'm going to go for it here and say it was back in the day when we were all at Mom and Dad's house for the holiday (I think only 2 brothers were married back then) and we sat around the table (8 of us) and played the most incredible game of Nerts I've ever experienced.

Mind you, this was before my revival of boardgames became a passion for me again. I LOVED that day! Lot's of yelling, laughter and love.....just like every Thanksgiving Day. MAN I love this holiday!!

Worst Halloween Ever

Ugh! Pick one!

I remember our church was holding their annual "Reformation Day" on the 31st once when it was raining and cold. Everything was moved inside, which made things cramped, and overall it was a huge mess to the line with not enough food being provided.

I remember leaving, driving to McDonald's and spending the rest of the night alone in my apartment. (I was living by myself back then) As if I needed a reason to hate this holiday more!

Best Halloween Ever!

Now we're getting to the "big" holidays!

This one is kind of hard for me because we've had some pretty rocking parties at our house back in the day but overall, I don't really care for the holiday that much.

My best one may have happened to me a little after college when I was invited to attend the "secret" K Street party located in a neighborhood in Monroe.

This party is invitation only to those who live on the street and the only exception to the rule is if you decide to bring a date, which is what I was to this friend of mine.

I'd never really attended a Halloween party before so this was kind of my first. And it was amazing! The entire house we went to was decorated like a haunted mansion. Music played in ever corridor (which was harder to do back in the day before wireless was invented) and food was everywhere. (hmmm, starting to see a theme here about "best" holidays and "food")

I never was invited back (not my fault) but I think that was the most fun I ever had on Halloween!

Ugh

Oh man, why does the season have to be so hard? The Braves I figured would be good but the Phillies?! Nope, never bought in the hype but so far it looks to be true.

Going to be a hard season....hope we can stay in it.

Worst Labor Day Ever

Another easy one to remember because it involves me traveling on the road (again)

This time I was by myself. Didn't really do much that day but hang out with a few friends from work. But I missed our Anniversary (which falls around that holiday) and it sucked because I really just wanted to be home.

I even remember hiking up a small mountain and watching the planes pass by overhead, feeling jealous that I wasn't on one of them, headed home.

True, I do miss traveling. But when it's for weeks at a time, I don't.

Best Labor Day Ever!

While on the road I had Megan come with me for our anniversary trip out to Disneyland where we spent the weekend. Super incredible fun since we'd never been before (and probably will never go back) but on top of it all I got to ride my favorite ride from my childhood "Mr Toad's Wild Ride"

SO much fun!

Though I've had very good Labor Day's generally speaking, this one has to take the cake!

Worst 4th of July Ever

Oh geez....I guess it was (once again) when I was traveling on the road ON the 4th and got to see a few fireworks outside of my hotel before I went to bed to start another 4 weeks on the road. Not fun.

I hate the holiday overall so it wasn't that big of a bummer in the first place. Maybe one day I'll find a way to celebrate the holiday in a way that's more fun than standing outside in the dark for hours with mosquitoes eating you alive while you watch a pathetic performance of lame and short lived fireworks.

(sigh)

Best 4th of July Ever!

Easy. In one of my least favorite holidays I can only remember having ONE I actually enjoyed.

It was back in 2002 (maybe) I got invited to a 4th party that was great! Tons of lovely grilled food and drinks. USA decor all over the house and so many people to laugh with while none of us noticed the firecrackers going off outside.

A grand time indeed.

Worst Memorial Day Ever

Again, this one was easy to discern as well.

My birthday weekend (I think this was in 2013) my wife and I went out to Dallas with her cousin and boyfriend, who insisted he book our hotel since my suggestion was one that cost $100 a night and he thought that was too expensive.

When we arrived at out Super 8 (which cost $89 a night) it was in the seediest part of town, had bedbugs and blood on the sheets and the next morning our door knob fell out of the door to our room.

Needless to say I was NOT happy. That and her boyfriend was ANNOYING the entire weekend. Not trusting what my Tom Tom said (yeah I had one back then) and directing us into going the wrong way more than once. I was miserable the entire weekend.

To my remembrance, it was the only bad Memorial Day I ever had. I hope I don't ever have to have one like that again.

Burrito Loco!

Went here last Friday and its a pretty fun place. Arcade games for free, lots of jokes on cups and parking spots outside. Food's pretty good too! I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised! Still a little too new in the area which means it's crowded but hopefully after another month or so it will die down enough to be manageable to eat there.

If you're in the area and haven't given it a try, I suggest that you do!

Best Memorial Day Ever!

Oooh, I love this holiday too!

Back in the day I threw parties on this holiday because no one else was, making me the only party in town!

We had BIG parties and they were all fun too! But the best one I ever had was one time I had over 50 people (yes it was over 50, I counted) for a "Grill Party" with a special rule. NO hotdogs or hamburgers on the grill.

That day we grilled salmon, shark, steaks, sausages, pork and chicken thighs, -shishskibobs and everything else under the sun. It was wonderful.

I remember this time asking permission from the landlady or the apartments if I could have a large party. She gave her permission but after seeing how many people showed up she politely asked me to move it away from the pool area so others could use it. It didn't ruin our party and we had one of the best Memorial Days EVER that day!

Worst Easter Ever

To be honest, there's only one...but it wasn't so bad.

I had to travel over the holiday and couldn't make it home. I was bummed because I didn't want to spend such a special holiday all alone. But thankfully a fellow co-worker invited me over to his house where I ate with his family.

It was a beautiful gesture and I really appreciated it, but I did miss my family that year, making it the "worst" Easter I ever had.

Best Easter Ever!

One Easter weekend Mom sent us on a special Easter egg hunt that started off in our house, led us each on a separate path outside the house, only to led us back inside to where we found....a lightsaber. The original one made by Kenner back in the 80's. It was one of the best Easter's I ever had, hands down. And it was Mom who made it special.

Worst St Patty's Day Ever

Geez! I have a million I could choose from here. But I remember the one day I didn't even remember it was the holiday. I didn't wear green that day, everyone had to point it out to me.

I went home, did nothing, then went to bed forgetting about the holiday altogether. It's said how far this holiday has fallen for me. I hardly acknowledge it at all these days.

Best St Patty's Day Ever!

This used to be one of my favorite holidays of the season! I can easily select which one was my favorite! 2006 I celebrated at the old restaurant Bennigans. I remember I went there straight after work and hung out at a table the entire night, welcoming different friends to sit down every few hours while we laughed and snacked on appetizers.

It was a wonderful night. Man I miss that place!

Worst Valentine's Ever

SOOOOO many to choose from her but my worst has to be the time my first girlfriend broke up with me the day after a very weird V-day.

You see it was then I realized that some woman find a "date" for the holidays so they won't be alone. The exact thing happened to me. We were together weeks before X-mas (to make sure she got a gift) through New Years (someone to be with at parties) and leading up to Valentine's (which entitled her to one final gift) until the axe came down the day after. (though I suspected something wrong that evening of the holiday)

It was then I started my book a rules on "dating". I still refer to Dec-Feb as "non-hunting" season for finding a mate, when I speak to younger folks. Guess it skewed my view of the holidays as a single lad.

Now I see the holiday for what it truly is...a cash grab for business and corporations to make money off of.

Have a good weekend folks!

Best Valentine's Day!

One of my least favorite holiday's but the closet one I ever had that was so-so was back in college when we held a Single's party that had nothing to do with the holiday. In fact, not many of us were really dating back then so we just hung out. It didn't last long. I believe we only held 2 annual parties before couples started forming.

....dang, I wonder if it was because of our parties? Now that's a humbling thought.

But the parties none-the-less were fun.

Worst New Years Ever

This is a much shorter story and happened a few years back when Megan and I were married. Her birthday's on Dec 30th and that's usually when we celebrate. I remember the day before we'd stayed up late for her birthday and woke up early the next day to run some errands.

We ended up being so tired, we turned down all invitations to parties and stayed at home, desperately trying to keep our eyes open long enough to see midnight. Gave a kiss and went straight to bed. We didn't even watch the ball drop on TV.

Kinda lame but I'm sure it'll be the same way 30 years from now so at least I know what's in store for me in the future.

Best New Year's Day ever

This month I'd like to talk about the best and worst holiday's I've ever had. Today I'd like to talk about the best New Year's party I ever through. Ok, so technically it happened Dec 31st but that's when we celebrate this holiday so I don't care about specifics.

So my best New Year's came years ago (2003 or 2002, I can't remember exactly which) when I threw the biggest New Year's party ever! There were so many people, I couldn't keep them all in the apartment so they spilled out into the parking lot. Thankfully it wasn't that cold.

There were so many people I didn't know about a quarter of those in attendance. Being concerned the landlord would kick me out the next morning (when everyone left) she came up to my door....to thank me for letting her sons attend.

I couldn't believe it. I also spent the rest of the DAY cleaning up. I mean ALL DAY.

Around 6pm I went to bed, swearing not to throw another party like that again. Too much of a mess and too many strangers rummaging around the house. Luckily nothing was taken but I still didn't want to take the risk in the future.

Though I complain, it was a good party. We had Dance, Dance Revolution going and plenty of friends to chat with. (this was before the smart phone was invented so we used to talk a lot more back then)

WHAAAAAAA?!?!?!

So Megan and I've have been sitting on this news for a while and this weekend we decided to let our family know....the doctor found ANOTHER baby in her womb a few months ago....we're having triplets!

Makes sense because Megan was a triplet but why did they not find this earlier?! They said it's because it was hidden in a pocket under the other two and until it starting growing it was confused as one of the other two.

Needless to say we were both elated and shocked at the news. This means we have to make one for one more in the nursery, which is ok with us.

And the craziest thing about all this is it happened on april fool's day.....weird isn't it. : )
