Supernovas
You can't pass through them (unless you Muaat) so I usually reserve them to block other players from Rex. However, if my neighbor is a warrior species I'll keep it to block my planet, forcing him to take the longer route around it if he ever thinks of coming for me.
Gravity Rifts
When you place it on the board any ships entering and leaving the tile roll I die. On a 6-10 the pass through. 1-5 and you lose your entire fleet.
Again, I use this tile the same way I would a Supernova. But I've found that very few people will brave to go straight through it. Though I've seen it attempt it, not all have succeeded, so most just move around it.
