Earlier this week Senator Mike Lee from Utah showed this painting to talk about how ridiculous the Green New Deal is.

It was hilarious....and this painting of President Reagan, riding a raptor while firing a machine gun is unbelievably fantastic!

I wish I had a fireplace to hang this over.

April Movie Preview

Ready for this? Let's do it .

 Megan wants to see this and after this movie she said she may be done with Marvel movies altogether. I can't wait for that day to come! To be honest, I didn't mind the first one, just had a terrible ending. This one should be good but afterwards....I'll be watching these from home I think.

 I LOVED the first two movies. I LOVE the comic series. And everytime I see more about this new movie....it look more horrible than the last trailer! I now have ZERO interest in seeing this either in theaters or for rent. Hard pass on this one.

 I'm not much for remakes but this one doesn't look bad. And the fact that "It" did pretty well I'm willing to give this one a try.

 I can't believe there's a DC movie out there I want to see. Megan is the one who doesn't...but she loves any excuse to eat movie popcorn so she's in. I really hope this is as good as the trailers are.

Yep, this is a thing. I had to look it up to make sure it wasn't fake. I guess they're trying to jump on the popularity of the LEGO movies without the talent or recognizable toy line. I mean, are these toys even made anymore!? We played with them back in the day but I don't think folks know much about these toys. Especially enough to buy a ticket to see this movie!

I watched the trailer, rolled my eyes in disgust and then chuckled at the end at that is probably the only funny seen in the movie. Whether this is being released in theaters or not, I'm passing either way.

X-mas Tree World Record?

I know the picture's a little fuzzy but I took it over my shoulder while on the road.

This is the same X-mas tree that went up Christmas season back in 2017 at our local Centurylink building and has NEVER been taken down since!

It's just sitting there outside the window, laughing about still being around! I have to say....I'm impressed by either the determination or laziness or the staff responsible for this.

If this makes it to two full years, I'm going to have to go in there and get the story.

Five Foods I would try

Believe it or not, these products exist and I would try each one!

 Ground corn and....crickets? These chips seem bizarre but I'd try a bag just to see what it's like!

 This is hilarious....and it's available on Amazon. (don't ask how I found it) The name alone cracks me up, but when looking online for a cereal with the most fiber, this came up and heck...I'd give it a try!

 These are to be taken after a meal to curb your appetite and prevent you from over-eating. I'd be interested to know how well they work next time I go on a diet.

 Pringles flavored ramen noodles? Uh..... YES PLEASE!!!

This is nothing new but cookies that give you bad fortunes. I've always wanted to plant a few at a local Chinese restaurant in town and see folks reactions when they crack them open. The one featured in the picture above it hilarious!

Adult Imagination (3)

Mowing a lawn is hard, hot, nasty work. I hate it....and it's right around the corner to start all over again!

But someday's when mowing the grass I like to pretend I'm on a mission to destroy the enemy....and that enemy is the grass.

Occasionally I have to stop my waging battle against the green and call in an air strike when an ant bed is discovered. Other than that, I always come out victorious in the end.

Other than that, I'm listening to podcast or thinking about other things in my life.

What about you? What goes through your head when you're out working in the yard? Maybe I could use some new ideas! 

Adult Imagination (2)

Some nights when cooking (more often than not) I pretend I'm on the Food Network completing a challenge for the best cooked dish....I even grade myself when eating it too.

Don't get me wrong, I am NO cook! But it's just fun to pretend. When there's nothing on TV it on only 2 channels, MLB TV and Food Network, so you can see where that imagination comes from.

Does anyone else do this or am I the only weirdo here?

Adult Imagination (1)

Who says Adults don't have imaginations? One of the things I do from time to time when traveling on the highway and have a "race" on the way to my destination. 

I start in the 100 position and on the way there, slowly count my way up to the #1 slot. 

Our Dad used to play this game with us when we were kids all the time. If a diesel truck was carrying to trailers, that counted as two. And if we ever passed a flatbed trailer hauling other cars...oh man, that was the mother load!

 

As a kid (even when Dad wasn't playing with us) I would play the game in my head and now as an adult, every so often, I do it.

X-Statix Review

While X-Force limped along at the bottom of Marvel's comic line up, the order was given to get a new creative team in there to try something else to help boost sales. The grabbed Peter Milligan (from Madman comic fame) and Mike Allred to handle a new direction for the series and oh what a direction it was!

Turning everything around in a complete 180 they introduced a new team of super heroes who had assumed the title of X-Force. Each with weird powers such as throwing up acid, super sweat, skin that could fill up with fat on command, being super sensitive and being dead....yep, that's an ability too.

And don't get used to the characters because they'll eventually all die as the series goes on.

This comic is GENIUS! I loved every minute of it. Suddenly the book spun off into it's own title "X-Statix" and entertained me the entire way through! One of the better Marvel comics I've read in this collection. Super happy it was also one of the last so I could end everything on a good note!

If you're interested in a not-so serious super hero team, look no further than this! Well worth my time!

X-Force Review

In my final un-read comic book box was X-Force. I didn't read much of it back in the day because I wasn't a fan of Cable and if you weren't a fan of Cable before this comic isn't going to make you like him either.

Liefield's art is good but the story is HORRIBLE! I was more and more bored with it as issues went on. No wonder this didn't sell well for Marvel back in the "X" heyday.

The Good

Like I said, the art went from great to good to ok, to crap. It's like each new artist tried to underwhelm you more than the previous one did. It was done right garbage until slightly before "the end" of the original run.

Their were some story lines I remember reading as a kid. "Executioner's  Song" and "The Phalanx Legacy" but these X-Force stories appear to be the lamest issues in the crossover events.

It was fun to see familiar characters my little brothers played with as action figures from back in the day! Looking at them from the pages I remember each character looking exactly like they did from the comic. That little bit of nostalgia was fun.

They made an issue (early in the run) that you read completely horizontal, that I thought was a very unique and creative way of doing things. The story sucked but the idea I don't think I've ever seen done before.

I also liked how early issues had a red arrow to guide you to what panel you should read next when they all lay jumbled on the page. Constantly I read panels out of order these days because I have no idea which panel the artist wants me to read next, this method was well appreciated, yet sadly didn't make the stories any less crap.

The Bad

There's too much to talk about here. The stories (as I've mentioned) are horrible and, at time, make no sense. The characters are boring, you care NOTHING about a single one the entire series. NOT A ONE!

The artwork got worse over time (again something I've mentioned before) and the series even acknowledges that everyone on the team is less talented that the other "X" teams in Xavior's X-men. It's mentioned several times how they are constantly left out of crossover stories such as "House of M" and "Onslaught" only to take a back seat in dealing with an issue that will bore the reader to tears.

In one episode I character is said to have "received a promotion" to another "X" team and is no longer "playing in the minors" With that sort of talk, it's no wonder the series was junk. No one seemed to care about.

That was until issue 116.

Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death

I can't believe this, but I highly recommend seeing this movie. Absolutely incredible! Released in 1989 this hidden jewel of entertainment will have you laughing non-stop! I saw this many years ago and wasn't sure how it would hold up but after seeing it pop up on my Amazon Prime, I had to check it out again and I'm so happy I did.

From start to finish, it's a hilarious film! I might even need to add this to my DVD collection. It deserves a spot on my shelves.

Warning: Brief nudity in the beginning so if you're watching with kids, beware. 

X-23 Comic Review

The last series I read in the "Wolverine" box I had was of his clone X-23. It was the 6 issue mini-series which was an easy quick read that didn't take long to finish.

It was ok. An interesting idea for a character how has "claws" coming out of her feet as well. But overall, nothing special or deserving enough to warrant her own comic. This one is passable to read but that's about it.

Overall, the Wolverine box to me was "Meh"

Dark Wolverine Review

The next series I read was Dark Wolverine which focuses on Logan's son Daken. I'll be honest, he's a frustrating hero to enjoy. He's really a bad guy, who can turn on the charm when he wants but in the end is evil to the core. But I'm confused as to whether we're supposed to cheer for him to turn good or not. It seems no matter how hard certain stories try to convince you of his "turning over a new leaf", he falls back in to his back stabbing ways. Making the whole series seem pointless.

Skippable.

Oirigns Review

The next series I read was Origins, which later turned into Wolverine Origins. I remember reading the original mini-series run when it first came out. I wasn't that impressed either time reading this. It's actually quite boring.

But the ongoing series that took place afterwards was a little better than the previous Wolverine series I'd just read. Plus the artwork was pretty good as well, which always helps.

I think a lot of people loved this series when it came out but I think that's because they were interested in knowing Wolverine's earliest memories from being a child. Either way, it's another series I thought was mediocre. 

Wolverine Comic Review

So while moving the comic boxes out of our guest room and in to my room, I discovered I passed over two extra boxes of comics I didn't read!

One of them was full of various Wolverine comics which I'd like to talk about today. The first one was the mid-2000's Wolverine series. It was so-so, with the "Old Man Wolverine" storyline being the best of the bunch. 

But since Wolverine was never my favorite X-man (Gambit all the way baby!) I wasn't as in to this series as I'm sure most people would be. 

Is it worth your time? In my opinion....no.

Classical Suggestion

Oh man, I don't know what it is but lately I've been on a classical music kick! I guess it goes all the way back to when my Dad would always play it around the house. (especially on Sundays)

But whether or not it's nostalgia, I still enjoy sitting down and listening to it while I'm lounging around the house....like right now for instance!

If you have Amazon Music, may I suggest "Masters of Classical Music" 106 fantastic pieces to pass the time to. Very relaxing!

Bad Times at the El Royale (Review)

Last month I got to see this movie. I remember the adds for it being so-so, but when boredom for something to watch during breakfast happened, I decided to give it a try.

And I'm glad I did! This movie is the poor man's Tarantino film. Beautifully shot, acting is pretty good and the story is pretty interesting though lacking in parts. Overall, I believe the film is worth your time. I was easily pulled in by the story to finish it when I arrived back home later that evening.

Good flick!
