Lowest numbers in the US!

Well, well, well, Louisiana now has the lowest cases per captia in the US.....now can someone please tell that to our Governor who hasn't budged on the strict enforcements he has in place?

It's killing small business', the arts, the elderly, the youth and the economy of the state.

Our rules are just as strict as states with 4 times the case count. What a joke!

Zombies!!! 19 Zombies Island

Picking up where the last one left off, you've made it to the island, only to discover it's infested with the undead as well. So your mission is to stay alive, gather resources on the island, gas, food and water and make it to the boat on the other side of the island to get back to the mainland.

Gathering provisions is what would set this apart from the other expansions and sure you could have some island themed zombie if you wanted. I just think story wise, these 2 expansions would play well together.

Zombies!!! 18 Dead at Sea

For this expansion, I had the story start with you on a boat that is adrift and you know have to make your way across the ocean to get to the island, but along the way there are zombies AND zombie sea animals stopping you. Imagine the Zombie Zoo expansion but with Sharks, dolphins, whales and octopus getting between you and the island.

I think it's be totally cool.

Zombies!!! 17 The Mummy's Curse

I submitted the idea to Twilight Creations Inc years ago but didn't hear back sadly. I didn't want money for the idea, just credit on the box. Oh well. I still think it was a great idea!

In this expansion, you break into a museum to hide out from the Zombie herd, only to realize the Mummies in the museum have come to life as well and now you have to assemble the three pieces of Ra's staff to end the curse.

In the deck are "Mummy's Curse" cards, which bode ill of whoever draws them. Sometimes all players suffer. The winner is the one who can assemble the staff and get to the Egyptian showcase area with it first.

I thought it's be a cool idea to get the "original" zombie involved in the mix.

Zombies!!!

The gateway game that got me in to the hobby, this month I wanted to give you all the ideas I had for future expansions!

True, I should have thought about doing this in the month of October but didn't think about it until I uncovered an old notebook of all my ideas I had for the game. So I'd like to share them all with you over the next few weeks.

Expect several posts a day on these as I'll give them one at a time.

Though not played as often as it used to be, it's still a game I'll always love.

There are 16 expansions for the series so far, so I'll be starting on number 17. An idea I actually submitted to Twilight Creations Inc with card ideas, tile names and all!

See you soon....

A Christmas Carol (BBC 2019)

I didn't even know this one existed until a few weeks ago. I was very interested to see how the BBC would cover it....and sadly it was the worst version of the story I've seen yet.

It strays so far from the material it almost feels like a different movie. It's way too dark and makes Scrooge to be a morally depraved human being who doesn't deserve redemption. It's an unsatisfying mess that leaves you wondering what they were thinking in the first place.

The only interesting take-aways for me was how they portrayed Scrooge's mind for business. He's always crunching numbers in his head and weighing things by their worth and profit. An interesting concept which is sadly squandered in this version of the story.

Please avoid at all cost. NOT safe for kids either! Violence and partial nudity. This is one tale that deserves to be forgotten.

A Christmas Carol (1984)

In preparation of my upcoming show, I decided to watch a few versions of the story I've never seen before. The first was George C Scotts.

It follows Dickens pretty well, but does add more scenes for the length of the movie. And though Scott is a wonderful actor I didn't feel his portrayal of Scrooge was the best. Scrooge is utterly persistent that he's in the right for most of the movie. Only at the end after he is scared to death by the 3rd spirit does he finally repent.

I felt it was a little untrue to his character from the novel where he grows more human as the night goes on. Overall, it isn't bad but certainly not the best version I've seen.

Have a good weekend folks!

Top 100 Review (#10-1)

Here we are, the Top 10. What will stay and what will move? Let's get in to it!

#10

This game shot up 10 spots due to it being an election year. Now that it's over it'll move back down the list due to not being played as much. Happens every 4 years for the game so it's expected.

#9

LOVE this auction game on beautiful paintings. It moved up 4 spots to get in to the Top 10 but with the purchase of a newer painting themed game in my collection, I feel this one will fall back out in 2021.

#8

THE BEST electronic game in my collection. It moved up 1 spot but will be a solid contender in the Top 10 again next year.

#7

I don't think anyone is more stunned than me that this game is now in my Top 10. Moving up 27 spots I shrug my shoulders on guessing where it'll land next year. If the Mrs. continues to play with me, it stays in the Top 10.

#6

Hard to see a world where this isn't on my Top 10. Fantastic dice game! Sure it slipped 1 spot on the list but it's still one of my favorite 2 player games that I was ALWAYS get to the table!

#5

Moving up 3 spots is hard to do when you're in the Top 10 but that's exactly what this game did! the expansion is nice but not necessary to make this a great game. Hard to say if it can move up more, but I think it stays on the Top 10 regardless.

#4

I hate soccer but yet this game moves up 3 spots on the list anyways. GREAT flick'em game that is so outside my M.O. on games. I think this one remains in my Top 10 easily next year.

#3

This was a tough call for me to make. Taking the former #1 champion down after so long was something I felt was the right thing to do because the past season was a disappointment due to it being so short. Eventually I'll get used to it but for now and sits back slightly on the list, waiting to retain it's position as #1 again next year. Can it do it? You bet it can!

#2

Words cannot describe how grand a game Restoration created here. If they put out another expansion next year it may be enough to catapult this game to #1.

#1

All hail the reigning champion! But can it stay on the list next year? I honestly have no idea. I'll say no since no game on my vintage list ever has but who knows? It's definitely good enough to retain its position on the list.

We'll just have to wait and see!

Top 100 Review (#20-11)

#20

Dropping 8 spots on my list because my oldest nephew has lost his love of the game it won't get played as much without his evolvement. I don't see it moving back up the list anytime soon but it will continue to slowly drop in 2021.

#19

Dropping down 6 spots I wonder if it'll ever see my Top 10 again. They are both great games but have lost their luster with my group lately. Straight up "war" game so I get though I wish I could play them more in the coming year.

#18

Falling 14 spots our of the top 10 was wild for me. It just shows what a great collection of vintage games I have. So much fun to play, I believe this stays in the Top 20 from here on out.

#17

This game only dropped 2 spots in its sophomore year on my list. Completely perfect for the theme, I think it stays the same around the list next year.

 #16

This game moved up 7 spots to secure a spot in the Top 20. I think it may be here to stay. Great electronic game that improves with the player count.

#15

Moving up a massive 24 spots on the list, I have a feeling this game is gunning to make it in the Top 10 next year. Every time I play, the game continues to get better! Classic Ravensburger!

#14

A former #1 that fell 3 more spots in 2020 but remains a solid electronic game in my collection. I really thing a 4 player game of this could improve its standing but whether it gets back into my Top 10 I'm doubtful.

#13

Dropping 3 spots only due to awesome games on this list. I hear its getting a reprint and I'm interested in what it will be. I know there's room for improvement, I just hope they don't try to over think what those improvements will be.

 #12

Rising 24 spots on the list this game is destined to be in the Top 10 next year. My wife loves it and it only get better the more player you have. Lovely game.

#11

Former #1 that moved up 6 spots and ALMOST made it back in to the Top 10 but I'm not sure it can break in to that list due to the tough competition that surrounds it. But it stays in the Top 20 for next year.

Top 100 Review (#30-21)

#30

My version's called "Gold" and even though this push your luck game dropped 9 spots this year, its still a solid game that I will never win! Ravensburger has made a big impression on me this year. Such a great company for games!

#29

Another game that dropped 11 spots on my list but only because it was a two player game. Next time I plan to put more rides up for bid so that all locations would be owned by everyone before the end of the game. That may improve its ranking for next year.

#28

There's no doubt in my mind that this is a fun game. BUT player elimination is the down side which is why it slipped 9 spots on the list this year. I still think it remains a Top 30 game by 2021.

#27

In an election year this game shines. Rising 16 spots on the list I don't think it'll get any higher than this. Unless he wins the election, this game will sink back down the list in the coming years.

#26

The newest game on my list to hit the highest too! I love this playdough game and so do my nephews. If we keep playing in into the next year, this game WILL move up the list, mark my words.

#25

The only game from my collection that I have the original copy of. It shot up the list 16 spots this year and I think it'll hold it's ground next year.

#24

Marvelous game! Just can't get the maximum player count to maximize its potential! It dropped 10 spots this year and will drop or rise depending on what type of game I can get to the table in 2021.

#23

Moving up 6 spots I believe this game is destined to be in my Top 20 when 2021 comes around. Accept no substitutes for this masterpiece!

#22

Rising 6 spots this game just missed the Top 20 and I'm afraid will never see a higher ranking on the list going forward. Since the show never happened here in town (thanks COVID) the interest in this game will fade hard from my friends and gaming group. Too bad, it's a great bluffing game!

#21

It shifted 3 spots up the list but I don't know if it has enough to get any further. The "take that" element where multiple players can team up on another player is just too brutal. But the game on its own is wonderful and I love bringing it out every time!

Top 100 Review (#40-31)

#40

Simple racing game around the board with the fun mechanic of being able to hop on top of another player and move with them. This game moved up 8 spots because of the fun factor and the fact that the Mrs loves it. I think it's not done climbing my list just yet.

#39

A new game on my list that shocked my friends when they saw how low it ranked but that only gives it room to grow next year, which I have no doubt it will.

#38

Another new game added to my list which is incredible fun. However, it is a two player game which means it may fall slightly on the list next year.

#37

Another new game from Waddington. Love the look, the pieces and the gameplay to it. But I have a feeling it may drop slightly on the list next year since the "newness" factor will have cooled by then. Doesn't mean it isn't a great game though!

#36

These two games keep rising on my list though only by 1 spot this year. I think it's found it's spot on the my list now and won't be moving up anymore. I still like Under Siege better but will play both all the same.

#35

A new game on my list I'm so thankful to have in my collection. Though the ice tray is a little fractured, the game still is playable but I may buy one of the reskins of the game and play that instead from now on.

#34

This game only climbed 1 spot on my list but looking at the games ranked around it, that's quite an accomplishment. I love motorized games and this is one of my favorites to play. I don't think it'll ever crack my Top 30 due its simplicity but I also don't believe it'll fall below 40 on the list either.

#33

GREAT Batman game but drops 6 spots on the list because it does go a little long in the tooth. But the minis and art to this game are amazing none-the-less!

#32

Though the reprint of the game IS nice, I even got to play my older version too for the first time and years and absolutely enjoyed it! This game soared 47 spots up the list and I think it'll push up to even higher spots in the coming years thanks to the reprint.

#31

Even though it was an election year this game still dropped 15 spots due to poor, poor, pieces. I wish it looked better because the gameplay IS fun. But now that the election year will pass, this game's going to tumble down the list in later years.

All Saints Day

For me this holiday was more celebrated as a kid. So there's more memories tied to it.

I'm ready for a fun afternoon with my church tonight!
