Squares

You're allowed to get up to 3 of these during the game and for each building of that color that matches the tile you'll get an extra VP when scoring. 

This is a Meh. 

We didn't mind it and most of us used the expansion but I feel it didn't bring in that many points. On the other hand, having specific tiles we could choose to add to our alhambra at any time, was nice so even though I don't think you have to play with this every time, I wouldn't mind it coming into a game here and there. 

Gates

Grab one of these cards when they come out of the deck and place a gate within your area which opens up walls. 

This is a MUST

We loved it. Another one that everyone kept asking if we could include in every game going forward. It really opens up several options on where you place tiles which is why everyone loved it. 

Diamonds

These cards are shuffled in the deck and can be used as a "wild card" when purchasing tiles. 

This is a MUST

There's not that many cards in the deck so its rare and exciting to see one pop up in a game. Another great way to make it easier to purchase tiles. 

Characters

Each player starts with 2 of these, which offer cheats in game play. Once used its passed on to the player to your left. 

This is a MUST

Since the same characters will not come out each game, this adds for a lot of variety when playing the game. Deciding when and the best way to use these on your turn is crucial for BIG plays in the game. Absolutely loved it!
