Silence (Review)

I'd heard Scorsese did a film similar to "The Mission" which is a great movie so I wanted to see this one too.

It stars Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield playing missionaries who go on a mission to find a lost brother from their church. The story is interesting all the way through until the end. (SPOILERS) Everyone end up giving up on their faith and renouncing God. The movie kinda throws it in your face too since the whole time the missionaries are in awe of people willing to die for their faith but when they're given the choice they're cowards and renounce the faith instantly.

Really bad character arcs. Movie it garbage. Move along.....move along....

Wowwwwwww....could not disagree more. I mean, we normally do disagree about serious movies, but this one is a surprise. I didn't get that from the movie at all. This is probably the most accurate movie ever made about what it's like to be a Christian. Depressing? Yes. But the character I identified the most with was their little companion who kept betraying them. This is what God has to deal with every day with us - we keep making the same mistakes over and over and over again, and He forgives us just as much. Also, dude, it was based on a true story. So, for you to complain about the character arcs is a little disingenuous. The acting is incredible, the direction and set-pieces amazing. So much to love about a film that ends up being gut-wrenching but accurate in every way possible.
