Best Buy vs Amazon

If you haven't already heard last week Best Buy (the worst buy for electronics) has decided to go toe for toe against Amazon, guaranteeing to MATCH all prices with the online retailer.

Amazing. I never thought they'd do it, much less be around after this year. It looked to me that Best Buy would follow Blockbuster into obscurity but it seems the failing retailer has a few punches left in them.

Does this change my loyalty from Amazon...meh, probably not. But it does encourage me to look around at the competition more and I think that's Best Buy's setting out to do. They want to get back into the game in a bad way and finally they're putting their money where their mouth is on this one.

I predict Wal-Mart will follow suit and start doing the same thing. Now that Obama has raised taxes on everyone the retailers are really fighting over who gets your buck. Hold on tight folks, I think you're about to see a retailer battle of epic proportions.

Lord of Chaos

Just finished the book 6 of the Wheel of Time series and I'm happy to say the series keeps getting better with each book!

This novel brings the main character Rand, back into the big picture but also doesn't have much happen in it. Basically it's feels like it's setting up all the characters for an upcoming story arc. I have no idea what "Lord of Chaos" means since they don't really explain it other than it being an old saying.

Jordan throws in a last minute "climax" to give you something to happen at the end but really it wasn't needed since it really didn't develop any of his characters.

However, I'm looking forward to book 7!

Disney 2011 Part 3

Here's a pic with Megan, Tinker Bell and some Fairy...who's a dude...and he's a fairy....riiiiiiight.
After the first photo was snapped it was funny to hear Megan ask the dude fairy if he could step out of the picture so she could just have one with Tink. LOL
And of course Megan being Megan had to take a picture of Tinker Bell's shoes because she thought they were "Super Cute"
Here's a pic of Charity and I in a telephone both at Epcot England. Megan didn't want to take a pic in there with me because that's the only face I would make in there....she's so weird!
Here I am posing on a rock....yeah, I'm cool.
Me impersonating the Little Meremaid.
Lion King
Adventure seeker!

Megan won't admit it but I'm sure she keeps a copy of this picture at work so she can kiss it repeatedly in the frame.

Ok, I'm done for now. More post next week!

Disney 2011 Part 2

Here's a few more pics of us with characters.
I remember they were all standing around this bridge in the middle of Epcot "Japan" I think. It was weird and made no sense but we didn't mind. It gave us the opportunity for these great pics!
Here we are with Bolt.
And Charity with Bolt...again I apologize for the Charity pic. But she wouldn't leave us alone the whole trip.
Whenever we go Megan HAS to try on different kinds of Disney ears... that's here true "happy face" she has on too.
I also like to try on head gear just as long as it doesn't make me look stupid.
Like Boba Fett. This looks so good on me!!
I don't know why, it just seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm sure we were the first ever to do such a silly thing.

K, that's all for today. C-ya!

Disney 2011

So here's just a few early pics from our trip I'd like to show you...
Us with Flick from "Bug's Life"

Some kitten from the Aristocats.
Bubber with Beauty and the Beast (which she freaked out over seeing the Beast)
And all of us together with Belle and the Beast. Sorry to include Charity in this picture but there was no way to crop it without cutting the Beast out too.

Fun Fact: Megan told me last week that her NEW favorite princess is...SLEEPING BEAUTY!! It's always been one of her favorites but I'm dumbfounded that she beat out Belle after all these years!
When we went, Epcot was having their Flowers and Garden Expo.
All of these were set up everywhere around the park.
It was pretty impressive.
Me with my counterpart, Cogsworth.

Ok, that's all I'll post for now. More tomorrow!

The "Lost" pictures

So a few weeks back I was checking old post on my blog back when we went to visit Charity at Disney World. We re-watched the videos and enjoyed the memories, that's when I noticed something... I NEVER posted the pictures from that trip?!

What the frag?! I could have sworn I did! I even made mention of posting them later but never got around to it because after I was finished posting the videos so much other stuff happened that I must have forgotten all about it!

So for the next few weeks I'd love to show you some WAY over due photos from our trip. Some we published on my useless Google+ page I had, but most of them should be fairly new.

Have a good Monday everyone!

Clone Wars Season 5 review

Now that another painful season is behind of Clone Wars is behind us, let's reflect upon it for a moment.

We suffered heavily at the beginning of the series with the snooze-a-thon story arc "Onderonian Conspiracy" then moved up a bit when it got to the "Younglings" story. That arrow of entertainment continued to climb with Col. Gascon and the D Squad story arc (my favorite of the season) and reached it's height with Darth Maul's "Shadow Conspiracy" story.

The bottom fell out with the "Ashoka on the Run" series finale however.

Terrible. Boring. And makes NO sense with already established Clone Wars TV story lines. Let's take a look:

1) When Anikin last saw Ventress he swore he'd take her in to custody and arrest her for working with Dooku and the Seperatist. Well, he found her, questioned her and...nothing. I know they have different directors for each season but GEEZ! C'mon! I know she's not with the Separatist anymore but I'm pretty sure getting double-crossed by the bad guys does give you a free pass on your past crimes.

2) Barriss Offee is a renegade Jedi who betrayed Ashoka because she see's the Republic and the Jedi Order being corrupted! Oh wait... she also dies during Order 66. I hate it when the writers want to give you a "twist" but can't come up with a good story line for it that makes sense.

First off, Barriss is NEVER portrayed in this way at all in the series. Are we to believe she just flipped one day and that was it? Guess between now and Episode 3 she had a change of heart when she died during Order 66....awkward.

Now she joins the same category as Even Piell does in the Clone Wars stories. Even was featured in Episode 2, supposedly dies in 3 but way earlier before his death was announced in the Clone Wars, Lucasfilm had a book out telling how he survived the Clone Wars?!

Don't worry though EU. The newest book to come out "Last of the Jedi" will explain it I bet and I even think I know how they're going to do it too. It's a simple fix that would make sense. But since I haven't read the book yet I can't reveal it just yet.

3) Ashoka, after all she's been through, quits the Jedi Order?!?!?! Sure they Counsil was mistaken but looking back thru the series this wouldn't have been the first time they were wrong. So why's she so angry with them?

Well, Ashoka's story HAS to end. We know she's not in Episode 3 so we all knew when the Clone Wars series started she would have to be written out of the story. Thing was, myself (along with all you dark-minded beings) was hoping that would mean she'd die.

Unfortunately, the writers took a less grim path and went the less-violent way here by having her walk away. Is she done with the Clone Wars TV show? I doubt it. But now the writers don't have to respond to questions from myself and others about when they're going to kill off Ashoka in the series.

Overall, I liked the season with the exception of the first and last story arc. I really hated not seeing more stories on the Clones themselves. Those stories always seem to be the most interesting to me.

Oh well, there's always....SEASON 6!?!?

Fires from Heaven

This book focuses more on the women of the story. I'm still digging how Jordan balances out all of his characters in the story so you feel a personal connection to each. I was told that after a while he has 40 characters you're familiar with toward the end. Right now I think I'm on about 20, it's a little hard at times to remember some of the minor recurring characters but they have a glossary in the back of each book to keep you on track.

Onward to the next book!

Episode VII update

So everyone keeps talking about "Starting Fresh" when it comes to the new Star Wars movies, but what exactly does that mean?

To start fresh, you'd need a new cast, new characters and new story lines to last you through at least 3 more movies (possibly 6) But aren't they going to include the old cast from Star Wars? I've even read some wonderful rumors that they'll be incorporating the characters from the Expanded Universe, which would be great but I'm pretty sure won't happen.

Again, my suggestion these should take place 150 after Return of the Jedi make sense. Thing is, Hollywood rarely makes sense.

Still looking forward to what they're going to do with it. Filming has to start this year so they can begin working on the special effects I would think. Casting will be announce by the summer I'm sure and more news will begin to pour out as we move through 2014.

Only time will tell if I'm still with around for the premiere when it's all said and done.

Oh and did anyone hear about the Simon Pegg rumors about him being in future installments of the series? I know he's a huge fan but geez to frag, if we put everyone who's a fan of Star Wars in these movies we'd have William Shatner to Pope Benedict XVI asking to be in it!

The Shadow Rising

This was one big beast of a book! But I finally finished it and have to say it gets better with each volume! I love how Jordan strays away from the main character (Rand) in the last 2 books and focus' more on the other 2 boys in the story. Mat (Book 3) and Perin (Book 4)

He really starts to developing them evenly through the series so that you're interested in all 3 instead of just Rand. It's working too. I love it!

Can't wait to tackle the next one!
