Dragon Con pics (7)

Some guy built an R2-D2 that looks and acts just like he does in the movie. Needless to say, I was impressed.
And Megan was extremely happy to see him there...
Me with Darth Revan. Sadly he took off his cowl for the pic which ruined the picture, he looked more like the character when it was on.
 Me with a Scout Trooper
Me with Darth Krayt from the Star Wars comic "Legacy" I complimented him on his impressive Vong armor.... that was a geeky thing to say wasn't it?
Me with Darth Talon. Holy Crow! She looks just like the girl from the comic book. AMAZING attention to detail!
 Me with a Stormtrooper
Being attacked by a Tusken Raider, which is what Darth Krayt was before his studied the ways of the Force!... um... another nerdy moment there, sorry.
Me with General Grevious, amazing costume where the guy his behind the cape and controlled Grevious as a puppet!
And finally, the wise one himself, Yoda. Little taller but didn't diminish the fun of seeing him there.

Dragon Con pics (6)

Time for some Batman pics! First up, me with Bane.
Batman and Batgirl, looks like he was straight out of the movie!
 Scary Scarecrow
 Scary Me
Scarecrow from the video game Arkham Asylum. Sadly you can't see his mask but it was an EXCELLENT costume. Dead on!

Star Wars Reader's Companion

I want this book. It's essentially a guide for people who want to read Star Wars but don't know where to start. Pablo Hidalgo had the dream job of reading every piece o Star Wars literature there was out there and combining it into this.

It's divided into eras of the Star Wars timeline and is most impressive. I was happy to see he mentioned a lot of the books I already had. The coolest thing about this book is it's the first time anyone's ever tried to straighten out the enormousness timeline disaster that is the Clone Wars. And even though he shy's away from a lot of the comic books that go with it, it's still a fantastic job which is why I'm adding it onto my X-mas list for the year.

Sorry I had to geek out there but I won't let it happen again...at least until next week.

5 things the Mets must do for 2013

It's true I love me some Mets and even though our hopes for next year seem bleak here's 5 steps the Mets must take in order to be ready for 2013 and beyond:
Get better pitching: Let's face it, in today's game it's all about pitching. No team can survive without it. (Just ask the Rangers) The Mets need to sandbag any funds they make this off season and add more meat to the bullpen.

Build our farm teams: Seriously, let's go after whoever scouts for the Royals, Rays or A's and hire them. These teams churn our more prospects in one season then we have in 10 years and the he best we've come up with is Ike Davis.
Trade David Wright: There. I said it. It wasn't fun to say but it has to be done. If he has any value in the off season we should dump him for some prospects and build our team for the future. David's a great ball player and I appreciate what he's done in New York but this guy won't be offended at all if he's traded. Who knows? Perhaps he'll get on a good team and get that World Series ring he justly deserves. The Mets need to let go of the past and embrace the future. Getting rid of David Wright is their first step.

Trade R.A. Dickey: Hold on, let me wipe the tear from my eye because this hurts too. With Santana and Bay's contracts still looming over the Mets no fan in their right mind thinks we have a chance competing next year. Dickey's stock has never been higher which means we can expect excellent prospects for him in return. I loved Dickey from the very beginning  I'm happy for the season he had and wish him the best when he leaves.

Find a use for Jason Bay: I'm thinking of having him work the concession stands or serving punch in the clubhouse after every Met's win. DON'T let him in the dugout (unless we need a batboy for the night) or stick him with the Kingsport Mets so he can play among peers.

Ok I'm done with my baseball rant. Until next season... LET'S GO METS!!

New Blog makeover

I can't sleep tonight so I'm giving my blog a major overhaul. Lost? Here's a few tips.

Throw your courser over to the right. See the new bar window? You can see my new profile, blog archives, photo, blog links and (most importantly) where you can subscribe to the blog and be notified whenever I make a post.

You'll also notice at the bottom of every post now, you may Google +1, Tweet or Like my post on Facebook. No, I'm not getting a Facebook page but at least I'm offering that option now.

At the top, there's several new ways to view my blog. Classic, Flipcard, Magazine, Etc. I suggest you browse around for your favorite.

But check out the coolest of the cools in the upper right hand side. A SEARCH button! Wanna read one of my old comic strips like Snakes or Balloons? Just type in the name and every one of them will pop up! Cool right?

I'll also be making weekend post in Oct so keep an eye out for them.

That's all for now, I'm going to stick around for sunrise and cry now.

C-ya!

Dragon Con pics (5)

Time to get Star Wars nerdy on ya, here's the writers panel I attended which honestly was the best forum I went to that weekend. SO insightful! In order from left to right they are Kevin J Anderson, Michael Stackpole, Timothy Zahn and Aaron Allston.
A pic with me and my favorite author Kevin J Anderson
Me with R.A. Salvatore, the man who killed off Chebacca in the books!
Then there's one of me with everyone's favorite Star Wars author Timothy Zahn.

It was a true delight to meet them all and I'm happy I got a chance to meet them.... as well as get a few books autographed too!

Have a good weekend folks!

Dragon Con pics (4)

A pic of me and the gentle giant himself, Haggred. He was taller than me!
LOOK!! LOOK!! It's the ninja-pirate mushroom from Weebl and the Bob!! GET IT?! No? Oh.... I'm such a nerd.
Me with Todd Breitenstein, President of Twilight Creations. The maker of my favorite board game "Zombies!!!" Truth be told I was super excited to meet him, they were actually the reason I went to Dragon Con in the first place.

Both he and his wife were extremely nice and not only did I grab some sweet stuff from his table but also a couple of promo cards that were only available at Dragon Con!! (and yes I did geek out about it afterwards, ask Megan)
Me with Bilbo, Dumbledore and Gandalf....wait, what Dumbledore doing in this picture?!
Me with Joker McDonald. Loved the idea for that costume.
Me and the Rocketeer, another great costume. Doesn't he look just like him?
Me with the Master Chief from Halo. This reminds me, I need to get Halo 4 when it comes out!

Dragon Con pics (3)

The Muppets take over Dragon Con! Funniest ones were the "yuup" aliens. They were in character the whole time.

Dragon Con pics (2)

The Walking Dead is Megan's favorite TV show, so when we went to the panel it's safe to say it was one of the highlights of her day. They spoke very little about season 3 and made more jokes about the show than anything. Overall I thought it was fun and the guy who played "Jimmy" in the show (James McCune) was extremely hilarious. Chandler Riggs was sick that week and not signing autographs, which crushed Megan's heart.

Dragon Con pics (1)

For the next few weeks I'll be posting tons of Draon Con pics! (I know it's been a while but I've been busy)
First off, check out the Planet of the Apes! Not bad! Cool thing about them is that their mouths moved too just like in the movies!
Jewel Staite signing the Firefly DVD's. She (like the rest of the cast we've met this year) was really nice.
Rainbow Bright and Friends....not sure about the dudes dressing up though... little too "bright" for me!
This was a creative group of folks who decided to make an homage to William Shatner by mimicking super heros in his name. In the case of "Shatgirl" however I believe the joke backfired.
Just a couple of dweebs at Dragon Con hamming it up for all the folks shooting cameras.
Fat Wonder Woman Megan was too embarrassed to take a picture of so she snuck one from behind. This lady KNITTED her costume. (even the crown!) I think next time I go I plan on taking pics with all the fat super heros out there. (There was one for every super hero out there and it was "glorious")

More tomorrow...

New Years Resolutions (update)

Well it's been almost 10 months since I made my New Years Resolutions. Now it's time to look back and see what I've gotten accomplished from them, so far this year:

1) Throw one thing away a day.

CHECK! I've spent the last few weeks rummaging through all the junk I have and can safely say I've thrown away enough things for TWO times a day!!

I'm really proud of myself too because with all that junk gone I have WAY more space in the house than before. It feels good to have everything in order and looking neat!

2) Make more YouTube post.

CHECK! So far at least. I have to admit, were it not for last month I wouldn't have been keeping that promise up, but my goal was to make one post per month and though it took a while to get caught up, I'm now at 10 posts! All I have to do is come up with a few more and I'll be good on that one!

3) Don't hold out hope for my Mets.

DOUBLE CHECK! I knew it was going to be a lousy season and I was right. My only relief is to see we beat all the analyst projections and didn't finish last in our division. (we finished 2nd to last)

4) Write more.

Eeeeeeee.... this is where I stumble. I'm just now finishing the first three acts of my dinner theatre and hope to have it done by the end of the year if not this month. IF I finish it by then I'll have kept my resolution but it's going to be close.

Ok folks, what about you? How are you doing with your resolutions or did you give up after week 2 of this year?

AU-ful

I haven't been posting anything about Auburn this year and you all know why.

We're terrible this year! Gene rode high off Tuberville's recruits for 2 years and since last year the deck of cards has been tumbling down.

What can I say that I haven't already said? He's an awful coach. I've been saying that from the very beginning. His recruits STINK and so do we now thanks to him!

We should have lost against ULM, we should lose the rest of our schedule. And you know what? I'd be happy with it, only because it would get rid of Chizic!!

Honestly, the man's a clown and it's about time the War Eagle nation stopped drinking the orange and blue koolaid and WAKE UP!

So for now, I'll let the football season pass me bye as I spend my time watching some exciting baseball playoffs!!!

Next stop...Fans Days

Our "Con-Quest" brings us back to Dallas for Fan Days, Oct 19th-21st.

Megan's excited for a chance to meet Freddy himself (Robert England) while I'm pumped to meet the Emperor (Ian McDiarmid)

We've been considering a few other stops as well this year but will have to wait and see how things turn up on my schedule before committing. As many of you know work has increased dramatically for my department.

Meanwhile Megan's in "Cats" at the Strauss theater which has been taking up a lot of her time as well.

We have Dragon Con pics coming next week!

Have a good weekend folks!

Abandoned Park

On our way back from Atlanta I made a stop in my old town of Forrest, MS and stopped by the old abandoned park we used to play at as kids. I have no idea what this ride is called and have never seen anything else like it before, but here's me acting like a child while Megan wonders what she even saw in me.

Scenes from Dragon Con (4)

Look at how amazing the host hotel for Dragon Con was!

K, that's all for today. More on it's way tomorrow. See you then!

Scenes from Dragon Con (3)

Passing by Twilight Creations booth, maker of my favorite board game "Zombies!!!" I couldn't help myself to snap a shot at their amazing table!

I have pics and a story about this to come next week. A "geek out" story Megan will be happy to tell you about. : )

Scenes of Dragon Con (2)

So snooping around I found an entire floor of people doing nothing but playing board games!! It was so incredible I walked around the entire time with my mouth open, Megan on the other couldn't believe folks would spend their time playing board games all day....I wanted to play board games SO BAD!!

Needless to say my "nerd meter" rose, much to Megan's dismay.

Scenes of Dragon Con (1)

Today I want to show you a few of the scenes around Dragon Con. This was one of the t-shirt retailers that were there. Pretty incredible the amount of shirts you could choose from.

More to come later today...

Superhero Day

A few months ago, Charity, Morgan, CeJay and I all dressed up as superheros for Megan's class. We told stories, played games and spent some time answering all their questions (the #1 being "Where's Hulk?") It was a lot of fun and I found some more pics from that day to show you.

I've been doing a lot of cleaning up around the house, throwing away some of my worthless trash and making  so welcome extra space to make the closets less cluttered. I was browsing around the labby today when I came across these pics.

Everyone had a good time and I'm told we'll be doing it again soon, so I'll be sure to keep you better informed the next time I dress up as an idiot in front of a class of little kids.

Ok, more Dragon Con videos are around the corner, just wanted to take a break and say hello!
