This weekend I took my nephews to the circus. It was my first time to go to one and I have to say I was impressed. Dancing bears, daring feats and non-stop entertainment all night long. Why there one this one magic trick that still has me scratching my head as to how they pulled it off! It was well worth my time I can tell you that.

But I'm ready to start a brand new week. How bout you?!

Time to talk about sad thing... crying.

We all know why we cry but what about "how" we cry?

When we become upset or depressed or over-whelmed with emothion our brain and body overreacts by producing extra chemicals and hormones. To release these unessessary chemicals from our body, we cry.

That's why a lot of people (like my good friend blondie) feels better after what she calls a "good cry". Because the tears are extracting these chemicals. So people feel refreshed or calmer after crying because your washing away all those hormones.

The chemicals and hormones disappear from our body through the form of tears. As our tears flow, they sooth our sadness or distress by withdrawing these chemical agents.

There you go! Next time you see someone crying just tell them that fun fact and they'll punch you right in the face. THE FACE!!!

Practice, practice, practice

I went to our first "dance" practice for the play this weekend. Yikes. With timing the music to all the steps I have to memorize this won't be easy. But I can always practice at home I suppose. Rockin' out to "Be Our Guest" every afternoon sure won't impress the neighbors but I gotta do something right?

Ever wonder why people say "God bless you." everytime you sneeze?

Back during the time of the Romans, Egyptians and Greeks, a sneeze meant that your death was slowly approaching. So the phrase "God help you" was said so as to help avoid your forthcoming doom. Years later Pope Gregory the Great would start insisting prayers of "God bless you" to be said whenever someone sneezed. And what do you know? It caught on.

Sneezes have also been considered lucky at times.

If you sneeze to your right.... lucky.

If you sneeze to your left... unlucky.

And if you sneeze to the front... you've probably ticked someone off royally.

Short Note

First off, I'm like to thank Mr Roth for the free painting of Isreal Bissell! I love it!

Ok let's get on with the good news. Last week I officially joined the cast of the play "Beauty and the Beast"here in Monroe. I'm nothing but a glorified background character who has 3 roles and 6 lines total to sing. I love it!

So while everyone is busy learning lines, I get to sit in the back, chill out, and munch on those fruit baskets they give the cast before shows. YESSSSS!!!

So what has everyone been up to this weekend pray tell?

What a week!

Oh man! So Wednesday I finally did it. Went out to eat all by myself on V-Day! You should have seen the waitress's face. HA!! I even got half off on my meal they felt so bad for me!! Oh and I hammed it up to let me tell you! Never cracking a smile once!!

But now those times are behind us and it's time to talk about the future! A fun announcement that most of you won't even care about is in store for Monday.

Some of you have e-mailed your concerns to me about the lack of self pictures on my blog..... umm.. yeah, I'll remind you I'm trying to "build" a fan-base here not destroy it.

Also people IT'S COLD!! Geez to frag, I run my heater 24/7 it seems everyday now! My electric bill is already reaching new heights and it's worth every penny to me so I don't mind.

To all my friends up north, this is why I could never move up there. I can only imagine how more aweful it can get!

Happy V-Day everyone! No, I don't have anyone either but it doesn't mean we can't celebrate right? So how did we mark mid-Feb as being the day for lovers? Well I'm sure you've all heard the tale about mating seasons between the birds and what not, so I won't go there.

Back during the Roman Empire at the festival of Lupercian (a party for the God of Fertility) young men would go out and choose a mate. But when Claudius became Emporor he outlawed marriges because he was afraid the men wouldn't want to leave their wives to go away to war.

But just like the songs say "you can't keep love away" men still got married thanks to the help of Bishop Valentine. (oooh... now it all comes together) With the "secret" weddings going on, Claudius (upon finding out) had Valentine put in jail and then to death!

While in jail however Valentine fell in love with the jailers daughter and right before his execution wrote her a love letter which ended in the words "From Your Valentine"

In 496 AD Pope Gelasius replaced the roman festival by honoring the day for St Valentine the martyr. But in 1969 those silly catholics removed it from their book of "official" church holidays. (that's where vows of celebacy get you I guess)

However it's still popular today for children give out cards to fellow classmates that leave people like me and Charlie Brown always left wondering why we didn't get one from the little red-headed girl.

So how did "V-Day cards" get so special? Maybe it was in that last note Valetine wrote for the jailers daughter or another tale is the children wrote them to him while in jail because he was so well loved by everyone in the community. Who knows? Who cares?! I'm still not getting one from the little red-headed girl!!

Ooh and while I'm on a roll how bout this one. Back in the Middle Ages men would draw names out of a bowl deciding which girl would be thier "valetine" for that year. They would walk around for that entire week with the girls name pinned to their sleeve. Therefore coining the phrase "wearing your heart on your sleeve"

Yow! I've this went on way too long! Don't worry, no FFF this week. I think I've already said enough. HAPPY V-DAY!!

In ancient mythology there are actually two sorts of Cupids. One who spreads love and another who stirs up chaos. I'm guessing the second one's more powerful these days since everyone seems to hate the holiday. But not me! I'm going out for Valentine's Day!... umm.... by myself.

This week I'm starting the comic strip early in honor of everyone's favorite holiday. I'll also be giving you little tid-bits of "did you know's" throughout the next few day to tell you a few things you may not have known about Cupid. But we'll save that for tomorrow. I'm been up for hours trying to figure out how my stupid MP3 player works.... ARGH I HATE THESE THINGS!!!

With great anticipation you've checked my blog for this weeks FFF so that you can turn to one of your fellow employees later on that day and say "Hey, did you know that...."

Well, this one you're not going to believe and even may not want to know in the first place.

Did you know they've actually conducted surveys on.... farting.

In fact, the average, healthy person farts 16 times a day, mostly in their sleep. And that's not just guys! It says that woman fart just as much as we do! (I never knew....)

They even showed that many animals fart as well. Elephants being the most. So, today when you turn to your friend and say "Hey, guess what?" and they reply. You can just say "Um... nevermind. I'll tell you next week." I promise I'll have one better for ya then.

Just a few news and notes for today. One. The Colts won the Super Bowl, but does anyone care? I watched the game and if you ask me it was obvious by the 3rd quarter who was going to win. I never really was big into the NFL and I sometimes wonder why other people are so much. I mean, there was like 6 commercials the whole time that even made me laugh? But enough of that.

Let's move on to what happened in Boston last Wednesday. You know. The guys hired by Cartoon Network to post "light-up" signs all along the town in an effort to get publicity for the new Aqua Teen Hunger Force Movie that's coming out?

Now it happend in 10 cities but only in Boston were people dumb enough to believe it was a a terrorists attack. They threw CTU, FBI and every policeman in the city into this whole ordeal and looked like the biggest idiots on the face of the planet. Now with HUGE egg on their faces, they're trying to convict the people who did this!! How more stupid can you be?

But you know what the best thing about it all is folks? Did anyone happen to see their press conference right outside the station? It was hilarious!! If you didn't please check it out here. It's well worth your time.

Another FFF

Back in old England towns were very small and the local folks would start running out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a "bone-house" and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive. So they thought they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the "graveyard shift") to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be "saved by the bell" or was considered a "dead ringer."

A weekend gone to waste.

Man oh man! I had something good for ya'll today! I went on campus and had some great video footage to show you from it. But when I came back here to upload the video I see that I don't have my USB cord.

It's gone. I have no idea where it went too because I know I used it last month. I'd hate to say somebody stole it but I haven't a clue as to where it could have gone so I guess you get nothing today but a plain ole regular post, until I can get a replacement.

People have been telling methat since I was a history major, I should start passing out little tid-bits of knowledge about stuff I know. AKA- "Did you know" trivia.

So for the next few weeks I think that's exactly what I'll do. This Friday's Fun Fact (or the FFF I guess you could say) is about the man shown above. The Nobel Peace Prize was actually named after this great inventor. But what you may not have known was young Alfred's most famous invention was.... dynomite.

Guess they should have called it the Nobel "Peices" Prize eh? (ok, I'll admit that was corny I just couldn't help it)

Demotovational Monday!

Guess who's #1?

In a 2 hour meeting yesterday guess what I found out?

I now work for the #1 dealer in the nation. And that means? Even MORE work than before! It's the weirdest thing ever. We get congratulated on that for the first 30 seconds then for the rest of the meeting we get griped out about how many things are wrong. Ha!

But it always ends the same way every time I was get up from our chairs to leave. "But overall folks, good job! Good job!" Like that's supposed to make us all positive at the end? But you know what the really funny part was? When we left out of the meeting the only thing the other managers were upset about is that the meeting had run over an hour and they had to stay late!

Ok well have a good weekend folks. The other thing I have my list of things to do this weekend is.... sleep.

Yes, better times at "the pad" were never had. I don't know about you folks, but I've been staying up WAY to late this whole week! I'm getting only 5 hours of sleep a night and I can't help it! Every night I plan to go to bed early something goes on and I stay up later than expected! I'm really hoping tomorrow will be a better night for an earlier bedtime. Gee... I wonder what I'm going to post for tomorrow?

Here's the part that Roger would remember the most. Yep. I'd sit up in my room for a couple of hours.... open up the window.... chunk my book out. Papers would fly everywhere and even after all the punishment I put on that book it never tore or broke. Just dents and scratches.... amazing how they build those text books to last eh?

First off, I'd like to say sorry about not being able to make a regular post yesterday. I shall make up for it this whole week I assure you. The reason it had to be a lame poll (except for the "Pirate" accent which gave me many man-giggles) I didn't have the time to write anything down because I had to go to jury selection. I waited there all day long. Thank you to all my friends who called me while I was there by the way. (oh wait... that would be no one)

But I read a book the whole time and was released at the end of the day when it turns out all 3 trials we were supposed to be chosen for settled out of court. Now I have no idea how well my team did at work and I have a feeling there's going to be a great big pile on my desk of things to do when I get back. Oh well.

Now moving on.... I'd like to thank Roger Carter for this weeks comic strip idea. We talked about it last week some and because it's so funny (and so true) I've decided to post it on the blog. The comic above actually happened. I'll tell you how.

See it was my first year and I really didn't like my teacher. He was asian (like you Mikee) and even though he may have been good at math his english was terrible. And I couldn't take it one day when I asked him to clarify something for me and he couldn't. I walked out of that class I recall, thinking mom and dad were going to kill me if they'd found out I dropped it. So I kept it on the schedule and studied for it myself at home. (as you'll see in tomorrow's strip)

Winter Coat!

Here I am wearing the latest style in fashion... ok. It's just me being a goofball about the new coat I got for X-mas this year. I like it. It's nice, and it keeps me warm.

The picture you see above is a promotional poster for an upcoming film that is being shopped around to film festivals as we speak. The title hasn't been decided on yet but here's the cool part.....

It's a movie that's loosely based off events that happened years ago to a girl who becomes friends with a christian family of 5 boys and 1 girl then reflects on the way she's been living her life all along. Guess who that family is?

Hot dog! I knew it would be only a matter of time before Hollywood got a hold of us! The producer of the movie came by my house this week and showed me a rough cut of the movie that involves a family loosely based off of mine. There's even someone loosely based off of me as well!

So here I am sitting down, excited to see what I look like thru "Hollywood's eyes" and my friend takes a moment to tell me "Now remember, I did say "loosely" ok?" Hearing that got me wondering a little but we rolled that beautiful bean clip anyway and I saw what she meant.

First off, my character isn't in the movie that much and when he is, he's used as the comic relief. (who knew right?) He's a goofy moron who the rest of the family tolorates only because he's related. And I loved it!

To see a someone loosely based off of me in a movie (besides Jar-Jar Binks from Episode 1 of course) was really quite a sight to see!

I think we all dream of what it would be like to see us portrayed in a film. I'm just lucky enough to have been given a little taste of that and it was awesome to see! It made my week! I want to be in the sequel!!

Merry Christmas

Ok so I had a video I filmed last night and was going to show everyone online this morning. Unfortunately the room was too dark to see what we did so I'll just tell you.

Every year for X-mas my family's tree is decorated with multi-colored lights and all sorts of awful ornaments with soley carry family values. In other words, an ugly tree.

This year my sister-in-law with the help of my sister, decided to have a different tree to celebrate around. This tree looks like something that came straight out of a lobby from a bank. It's boring.

So last night at 2 a.m. Dad, Jordan my grandmother and I decided to decorate it like it used to be. The end result? Success.

Christmas isn't ruined, the plan went thru without a hitch and my sister cried when she woke up and saw it the next morning. (hee hee)

With X-mas coming up soon I just wanted to thank everyone for the X-mas cards and e-cards I've recieved over the past week and a half. It's been fun checking the mail and seeing things other than junk mail and bills.
Makes me hate e-mail a little but because of the good ole days when you used to recieve letters from freinds. That used to add a little of the excitement back into getting mail everyday. But now I guess e-mail is just the same right? Who checks their e-mail everyday, hoping to get something other than "Improve your credit!" spam?

Christmas is ruined!

Well, I just got back from my trip and I lost my wallet.

Everything's gone, I've looked all over for it but I've now come to the conclusion that it's lost. I have no debit card to buy x-mas presents with and I can't write checks because I have no form of ID.

My computer isn't working. This is the third time I've had to restart everything just to get online.

So, as we enter the X-mas week things aren't looking so good. At least my car doesn't have any problems right? There's one good thing to think about.

X-mas shopping anyone?

So I really need to get some X-mas shopping done this weekend but somehow I doubt that's going to happen. I used to be horrible at it. Waiting till X-mas Eve until I "rush-shopped" all the stores searching for last minute gifts!

I think the hardest thing is just making the time to do it! I'm pretty sure of what to get most people this year but it's just taking the time to get it done is my problem. I always have something "more important" to do.

Like draw... and read Star Wars books.... and watch reruns of Star Trek. As you can see with my busy schedule I'm swamped!

The last 2 years weren't so bad though. I actually got a lot of it done in the first few weeks of December. Now to tie that record it gives me just one week to do it all and I just don't see that happening. I'm WAY too tired when I get off work that I really don't feel like going anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I love buying gifts for people but it's just the shopping around part of it that doesn't thrill me.

Plus (and I've got to know this) does anyone else go out and buy a little something for themselves while they X-mas shop? You know, kinda like a little reward for ones self for being so good over the holidays? Just wondering, cause I did it every year but the last one and that's because I basically had everything I needed at the time.

UNSTOPPABLE ADULTS WIN AGAIN!!

What a game! With the youth going down for their sixth straight time in a row it just goes to show you
that Santa wasn't the only one coming to down. IT WAS OUR GAME!!
Ok, that first part was cheesey but true.
In an amazing 20-0 finish the six time Santa Bowl champions (the adults) made Santa Bowl history by
becoming the first team to shut-out it's opponent. The game start off with a quick saftey that lead to a
touchdown on the first possession for the adults. By the half the score was a cool 8-0
But in the second half a flawless defense shut down the youth's strength, speed and will making it easy
for the adults to score 2 more touchdowns and finishing the game 20-0.
As you can see above it was quite a moment for me. Thanks go out to Emily for taking the shots and
everyone who played or showed up to cheer for the game. It was really a fun!

Notes on the side

This is the "tux pose" you see at all the rental stores around town. My question is, why are they always holding the inside of their jackets? I don't get it. Really.

Well this week's gone well for me. I got to be one of Santa's Elfs today at work over the phone. One of my employee's sister is a school teacher and decided to call her brother up this afternoon and tell the kids they were talking to Santa Clause over the phone. Well, he had a call coming in on his business line so he tells the kids "Hold on a minute kids! Santa's gotta go check on the reindeer for just a moment. Speak with one of my elves!"

Then he hands the phone to me. I have no clue what's going on until he gives me the 10 second explaination. Soon after I find myself speaking in a ridiculous voice asking all the kids what they wanted for x-mas. The kids went wild with request.... all at the same time.... yelling.

Ok, so the Santa Bowl is Saturday 2:30 at Forsythe park. Be there if you're 25 or older becuase then you can be on my team. Yeah. It's looking like it's going to be a big one this year since both sides look pretty even. I'm really excited to see what will happen and I'm pretty sure that's all I'll be talking about on Monday. We shall see.
