Meet the Mets!

Well folks, the Mets are going to the playoffs so be sure to cheer for them this week as they go up against the Dodgers.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm ready to role out week 2 of last weeks comic strip. I also have a pretty good one after that as well.
And yes, for those who do know a little about baseball. That's Jeremy's favorite player Julio Franco in the picture above. Guy's one of the oldest players in baseball right now and yesterday he drove in 6 RBI's. Amazing. Too bad he doesn't play for the Braves anymore eh bro?

AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!

Ok, I've gotta be honest. It was not a good week for the home team at work. For the first time at my job, my team has come in dead last. (NOT a good thing) I got my earfull at the meeting yesterday and if numbers don't start to pick up in the next number of months... start expecting my resume to be in your town soon.
It's not really that bad yet, it's just dissapointing to be on top of your game every month to becoming the worst in the company. My boss said I was like Louisiana; "first at being last."
Ouch.
But I plan on having another fun filled evening. I've got places to go and people to see.
Oh and by the way I don't know about you, but this is my favorite picture yet! HA! Ok after this no more pics for a while. I promise. Besides, I'm afraid if I post another one Jon will sue me for using images of his fence. Ok folks have a good weekend!

Flashback

Here's a few pictures of what the first "Cardco" comics, kinda looked liked. The first is a re-make of what my cover looked like, except I think it just showed the flag and some ruins. The explosion was put in there for the 2004 calender I made that year.

And the 2nd one's a little faded but it's the first comic Patrick attemped to make way back in '93 Thanks for sending it to me Pat, Jeremy and I got a kick out of it! It was awesome. Though we never found out what happens in the end I've come up with my own ending..... a show-tune ending!

Ok folks, hope everyone had a great weekend. We have a brand new comic strip for you this week that I think you'll enjoy. So until then, have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow!

Talk time again?

So since my last written blog was so popular I've decided to do it again. (at least until I run out of things to talk about)

Some of the questions I've been getting lately is about the comic books so I'll take some time to answer of few of those now.

I started drawing comics in 1993 when my favorite comic book shop "Cardco" went out of business. (Oct 31,1993) There were 3 of us at the time (Jeremy Patrick and I) and we each decided to draw our own comic book "in rememberence" of the store. Jeremy's 3 part series only went 2 issues before he just decided to drop the idea completely and Patrick didn't even make it past his first one since his dog died while he was drawing it and accordingly told us he had "lost the heart" to draw at that time.

Which left me. I did a 13 issue series leading in with "inside" jokes between the 3 of us since (let's be honest) my drawings suck. However thanks to the humor it provided people read them and pretty soon I was doing another and another and another. The circle of readers got bigger and would change over time. And every time I thought to myself "This is it. The last comic book I'll ever make." Another person would request one more.

To date, I've drawn over 400 comics (and counting) it's become a pretty cool hobby to have. But of course they all have "Inside" jokes attached to them so only one crowd would find it funny, while all the others would wonder why it's so funny to laugh at a guy who would move to Canada for woman. (inside joke there folks)

But since starting the blog I've really had fun doing this. Some comics are popular, some are not and you always seem to post your opinion either way and I'm thankful for it. But now it's time to go and finish off the rest of this week, so until then......

Let's Chat!

Ok folks, according to the last poll that came out, you people want more written posts so that's what I'm doing right now.

I guess I can just give an update on life since I really don't have anything else to say. Here goes.

Work is still going awesome. They're opening up a 2nd call center in either Shreveport of Longview TX soon and guess who has a 1 in 4 chance of running it? Yep, me. Though I'm pretty much for sure they're going to choose someone who's been there longer the boss probably just told me that because he wants everyone to feel that they're being considered so I think the odds of me staying here in "Funroe" are good.

I did get a 50" DLP big screen TV with Bose surround sound last week though?! Any of you who have talked to me via phone or e-mail knew about that. (it's all I ever talk about know a days)

Let's see, and my love life...... ok nothing new there so moving on.

The blog saw what I thought was a great strip and I'm glad ya'll thought so too. I have a few more good ones planned but I think this last one will be hard to beat as well. Thanks again for the e-mails and posts. It's good to know someone still reads this other than blonde. (I kid, Hollie, I kid!)

It's coming up soon for some pic post of Archer, Jaiken and Hobbs!! Charity's sending me some new pics she took that I want to post on the blog some time in the next few weeks. So expect to be bored with that!

Ok, I'm bad at doing these written post, which is why I hardly do them. Despite what you folks think I really do live a bland life...... except for when I go to campus and act like a fool..... ok, maybe it's a little spicey.

Have a great weekend!

Just thought I'd show off my latest addition to the "Star Wars Autograph" collection I have. Thanks again to Kim and Tony for getting it for me. I love you both!

Now, who's going to get me a Harrison Ford autograph that says "To Matt" on it? I promise to sing praises to your name whoever brings it to me first! Hee hee ha ha!

Hope everyone's weekend went well. Week 2 of our comic strip "Now Hiring" will be finishing up this week. I'm sure you're all going to love it.

Ta-ta for now!

According to last weeks poll ya'll wanted a picture and written posts the most so here I am, right in time for the weekend to give you just that! I'm glad everyone's happy with the return of the comic strip on the blog. (next week promises to be just as exciting)

I have a few more pics like these but that'll be for another time. So until then. have a great weekend folks!

Catching up on the weekend

Happy Labor Day everyone! I hope you're having to go to work like I am today, but I doubt you are.

I made a few posts last week without telling anyone so I'll let you catch up with those today and start back the comic strip tomorrow. (that is, if you have time to check my blog today between all your partys and grilling)

La sigh, I guess for me it's off to work!

What I did this weekend

WHAMMY!!!

Folks, it's ALL over the internet already and has viewed several times by people so I'm posting these short clips of my visit to the ULM campus last Friday. Wow. What fun was had. All of these classes are 100% real! I just felt like doing it so gosh-darn-it here it is! So go to the links. Enjoy the footage, tell your friends and have fun!

Also, in exchange for giving you so much today I'm asking for the rest of the week off, to shoot something else this Thursday. Will I post it on the blog? Yeah probably if it turns out as good as these did. Anyway have a great week folks!

2nd Failed Shoot

Here's a pic of my good pal and editor Jarod, setting up the lighting for a scene. One of the reasons I won't be re-filming it is because we really don't have the time. I can't search for another actor and actress and Jarod's got school coming up soon so he won't have time to edit anything when that starts.

Oh well, at least we tried right?

Shoot 2

Here we are right before we go out on camera to complete our 2nd shooting of the movie. Unfortunantly it turns out that this shooting didn't turn out well on camera either, so now I've decided to scrap the whole movie idea.

More on this tommorrow...

How's Saturday sound?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I missed a post yesterday. The reason was I didn't have enough time to post something that morning and has to just leave it be. And as Friday's go for me I didn't really have time to make one later that afternoon.

The post I'll make today will be a little long but it's going to answer a few questions I keep getting e-mailed over and over again. I know it's not from the same person so I don't blame you it's just that I get tired of telling the same story over and over again. So today, we're going to address some of the most popular questions.... about comics.

1)Why the name "Cardco"?

Cardco was actually my favorite comic book and card shop ever, when I was a kid. When it closed down on Oct 31 1993 (sniff, sniff~trembling lip~) my brother Jeremy, my friend Patrick and I all decided to draw a comic book in it's honor, depicting it's "death".

Jeremy's was going to be a 3-part story but he quit after making the first two. (ggrrrr, now I'll never know what happened!) Pat was only going to do just one book but he stopped halfway thru with it when his dog died. He was the best artist (and still is) of us all so his was looking WAY good until he quit.

Well, as you know, my art sucks. It's like the evolution of a "stickman" theory and everybody knew that. So what I had to come up with was a series of jokes that would keep peoples interest up. I remember starting on my first series titled: CARDCO and put 13 issues out before retiring. I remember during the time I was drawing it if I was even going to finish!

But after it was done everybody had a good laugh and enjoyed it..... so I made another.... and it went on from there.

The only reason I ever kept making them was because people kept asking for them. I never made one just for myself. Several times you'd see (in a comic book I made)where I would announce this would be my last, but it never was.

2) How many comic books have you made?

Over 400 now and still counting. My friends in Phoenix just received there's and I'm actually making another more now. I don't know how many I'll end up making but as long as people are still demanding them, I'll still draw it.

3) Can I draw a comic book with you?

Ok, so no one's really asked me that one, I just wanted to say that I do enjoy the occasional "crossover" writing with someone else. So if you'd like I'd gladly like to work with you. I've had a few people over the years draw stuff for me and I've kept them all. I love it! It's just as fun for me as it is for you when I receive comic.

Supposedly one of the artist who helped in the movie "Titan A.E." has challenged me to a comic book duel! And Tony, if you're reading this... bring it punk! Though I doubt you'll be good enough for my comic genius!

Ok folks, thanks for not being too upset about yesterdays "lack of post" and I hope this'll tide you over till Monday.

C-ya!

Money to Burn?

So I was looking through my Star Wars Insider the other day (no NERD jokes!) and I noticed this listings for an old Boba Fett toy. What do you think folks? A real bargain eh?

Just to let you know, this toy is rare only for the fact that his little backpack rocket shoots. Kenner made these on their first run with the series back in 1980 but when it was discovered to be a chocking hazard they immediatly stopped making the "rocket shooting" Boba Fett.

Therefore shooting up the price for this rare toy. But $18,000 for a piece of plastic? Yikes. Even I'm not dorky enough to fall for that!

Fridays post

I don't do this that often but I think today I'll be making a regular post. The reason I hate doing this is because it seems so boring, but... I'm out of pictures to show you so here goes..... strike up the music....

I found out this week that I am one of 2 people ever to graduate with a minor in religion(from my college) And now that they've closed down that department it looks like I'll keep that record for good!

The CWSC list was made by a fraud this year folks. So to all my readers who attend the CWSC I just wanted to let you know that list you keep sending me links too is a shameful, non-endorsed fake. The end.

I'd also like to thank the many who posted to laugh about my love life. Roger, if I find out you're the the booker again I'm going to kick you in the...knees.

And to all my friends around the nation who have e-mailed me and haven't receieved a reply, I'm sorry. I've been busy. But to answer the #1 question in everyone's mind... it's an "innie".

C-ya next week!

Who wants to be a SuperHero?

Oh man. If you haven't seen this show yet on Sci-Fi you are missing out. I thought for years that Survivor would be my favorite reality show to be on before I saw this.

Here we have a bunch of fanboys who want to become "super-heros" So they have to go around town acting the part until all but one are eliminated and that one gets his own comic book series from Marvel..... how cool is that.

It's hilarious to watch too, so if you've missed the first episode try to catch it as it airs 4 more night on Sci-Fi before the 2nd one comes out. They eliminate 2 people per episode and there are only 6 episodes to watch. (good stuff)

I keep wondering what I would be like on the show... dressed up as Sanrioman of course.

Movie Update

Just a little update to let all ya'll know how the movie's going. (since that's the top question most of you e-mail to me now) I'm regret to announce that we will not make it in time to preview it at the Trinity Fest this year. We tried, but having to film a re-shoot cost us 2 weeks that we desperately needed.

The film won't be ready until the fall now because Jarod and I want to work on the DVD extras a little bit, since the movie's only 2 minutes long. But I'll be sure to inform everybody of when it's ready and may even post it on the blog. (IF I ever figure out how to do it, that is)

Ok folks, you have a green light for the weekend, now enjoy it and I'll see you next week!

Our comic strip begins...

This weeks strip will be about a little incident I had at one of these resturaunts last weekend when I was visiting friends up in Branson MO.

Though I try to avoid "inside jokes" on the blog, I think most of you will find some of it funny since it actually really happened to me. (anyone up there will tell you)

Other than that, I hope everyone's weekend went well. I got to bed extremely early last night so I'm rested well enough to start a new week! C-ya tomorrow gang!

Scene 2, take 17... and action!

That's how movie made is made boys and girls. Unfortunantly, none of this footage will ever reach the big screen. (or any screen for that matter) It's be the 2nd shoot, that we'll be pulling the footage from.

Ok, that's it for this week. I'd like to welcome all of our new fans who just joined us this week. Thanks for the e-mails guys.

Hope everyone has a fun week. Not to worry, comic strips make their debut once again starting next week. (Hitt Clan, yours is up next)

Have a good one folks!

Akward

I think I'd rather not discuss this shot. Let's just say we got the take exactly how we wanted.... I don't even know who took this picture in the first place to begin with. (Kiiiim!)

Anyway, wanted to say "Hi" to all my freinds at the CWSC this week. Thanks for calling me and making my night, I miss you all and wish I could've made it up there as well.

That's all for now!

Not a clue

Oh wow, look at that awesome actor!! He's going to be famous some day!
How's the week going for you folks so far. For me it's like I have something to do every weekend. For instance, this weekend... work. Next weekend, I'm in yet another wedding (#17 for those of you who are keeping score at home) and the week after that it's a visit to my grandparents!

If you want I can post my "world tour" sometime later this week for your enjoyment, but c'mon, who cares about that stuff anyway right?
