Another day

Well folks, we made it thru another comic strip. I hope you enjoyed it, new format and all. I'll be going back to a few more comic con pictures next week so they'll be plenty to talk about then. Glad everyone's enjoying the blog still. I thought by now everyone would be bored with it but it seems to me we get more and more people visiting every week. (how nice)

As some of you may or may not know. I do have several people from work who read this blog on a daily basis. Well last week the assistant manager came up to me and asked to be in on e of my comic strips.
"You know, like me yelling at somebody" he says. Well Ronnie, the answer's no. I just can't draw people who are that ugly. (KIDDING: please don't fire for that!)

As you can see we've changed a few things with our comics. They now come fully retyped now so you won't have trouble reading them anymore. They'll be more changes in the future but for now just one at a time . Enjoy!

Here's a pic of me with some kids who dressed up as characters from the classic Japanese movie "Battle Royal"

The story about a class of school kids who get dumped on an island and have to fight eachother to the death to survive! (yeah you can't get it in America)

But it's still a cool movie. And the guy that took the pic for me didn't stand far enough away to get their whole costumes. They really looked great! Oh well what do you care right? I'm bringing out the new comic strip tomorrow anyway.

For those of you who don't know comics very well I'll tell you who this is. David Mack. One of the hottest rising stars in comics today. He's a totally laid back guy and after I gave him a few pointers on how to draw we celebrated together with a picture..... oh ok, that's not exactly how it went down. But he is a cool guy and I was so happy I got to meet him.

Now as for the notion of the return of comic strips, you're right. It's time for another. So next week I'll bring out another strip for you at the end of the month, then return back to some more pictures of the con. That way everyone's happy. K? K.

This was the day the AP followed me around with his camera and took a few shots for the press. Unfortunantly my glorious looks never graced the cover of any newspapers nation wide. (shucks!) I have NO idea what this guy was dressed up as by the way.

This post will be a little earlier than others because I'm not sure I'll be up in time to post it. (I need sleep!)

But! He's the morning of Day 2 at the Comic Con and as you can see, I'm right at home! These were some of the best Star Wars costumes I've ever seen! I also took a poll the whole time I was there, to see how many people had actually gone to see Episode 3 opening night and guess what the results were? %100 of the people I asked showed up to the midnight showing of Star Wars. Was this my kind of party or what??!!

A Real American Hero

Here I am playing around again at the comic con. They had this cool little stand up the whole week for people to take pictures at and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity. Pop quiz folks, if you were an action figure, what would you come with?

Here we have the Joker. Of course there was a Joker there. There's ALWAYS a Joker there. That and Catwoman are the two costumes I expected to see the most. And even though there were several Joker's around I only saw 2 Catwomans the entire time there!
The other pic is just too cool! It's from the old TV show with Adam West. Speaking of, did you know that they were selling the original BatShield as was seen in the show? Remember that episode?! Yeah, I didn't either.

Here's a few Marvel Comics characters who came that day. You think the Storm picture is scary be glad I didn't take one of the cross-dressing X-men??!! They were guys dressed up as Jean Gray and Storm and believe me folks.... it didn't look pretty!
The other one was of electro and if you can't see it he had these 2 wires hooked up on his finger that would show electricity running through them. Cute trick.
Another similar costume that I failed to take a picture of was the ones of Mr Fantastic and Invisible Woman.
Mr Fantastic had these long arms and must have had some spring attached to them because he could make them stretch out even further for pictures. It was cool. But the reason I never took a picture was because Invisible Woman looked 50 and they were both wearing body sculpted suits that showed their bums... never a good thing. I thought it best to stay away, I'm still happy with that decision even today.

The pics you see today are of the line we had to wait in like every single day!! In fact, that's what we would do most of the time there, wait in line.
You were always waiting in line for something. Autographs, forums, freebies, food, bathroom, they had a line for everything. I think I even saw some people lining up for fun in the hallway one day!
This pic only shows halls A and B. The line actually go all the way down to H so what you're looking at here is only 1/8 of the line. It also wrapped it's way AROUND the building every day from people looking to get in for just one day. Incredible.
The other pic is the one of everybody's favorite Transformer Octomus Prime. Or should I just say, I friggin 18 wheeler!!
They never unvealed it!! It just stood there the whole time! I think it's goal at the Con was just to take up space?!?
Anyway, for some strange reason they had guards around it 24\7. It's like they didn't want anyone to.... what? Hotwire Prime?!
Come to think of it, just how DID they get that thing inside??!! Hmmmm....

Working for the weekend

Well, this is my second to the last day to work this week. It's weeks like this that just keep the days rolling. Guess what? I finally found out how to play poker last night. (no money involved, just chips)
And even though I got wiped clean in almost three hands I really had a good time and learned some valuable lessons.... Tim's sister NEVER bluffs!!

First I'll comment on the Kligon. There were several people who dressed up as them at the Con. The even had their on "clan meeting" on Saturday! (I'm not joking on this one)

But the frog guy? I mean, come on.... really. You came to the ComicCon dressed like that pal??! Why?! You're not a super hero? Not sci-fi? Just some long lost reject from the Discovery Channel.

But he was a pretty cool guy I guess. If you gave him a cracker he'd leave you alone.

This is just a sampler of some of the goofballs who showed up in costume. Don't worry, I have plenty more to come. You'll be amazed. But they were indeed everywhere at the Con.
And to answer a few of your questions, yes you will get to see some of my autographs and yes I will appear in most of the pictures. But these first few are the ones without my shining face.
By the way... anyone who was around last night for my kareoke act I just want you to know that I've never even SEEN the "Lion King" before and that was my first time to even sing that song! (so no more making fun of me... it was Jordan's stupid idea to sing it anyway.... not mine..... really)

Lamo Logo

So, it's the first time ever I got to visit the San Diego Comic Con. Poeple... it was enormous!! Someone's sending me a picture of the line so I'll have one up to show you just how huge it was. I wish I had one of the inside too but so far I can't find any. On day one we got off the plane with like a hundred other people all traveling in for the Con.
We arrived at our "5 star" hotel which turned out to be the YMCA! Yeah, and you know what that means? The room was twice the size of my CLOSET and the showers were down the hall to the left. (4 to a floor)
It was like living in a dorm but without the rowdy sweet-mates. But on the good side of it all, we only had to walk 7 blocks down toward the Con. So it wasn't that bad.
Oh and we got a workout too let me tell you. I estimate that we walked a total of 10 to 15 miles a day at that thing. My feet would be so sore at the end of it all I could hardly stand. It was the first time I understood the phrase "shop till you drop".
