Old Photo Shoot

Hi folks!

This week we'll be showing you pictures from the first (failed) shooting of our short film. Since the actors, setting and arrangment is almost completely different from the 2nd shooting, it won't really spoil anything for you.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine went well.... in fact there's a comic strip coming out about it next week. I know a certain few of you already know what about too. It's going to be pretty good.

Here's a semi-group photo of your favorite Wilkins boys. Don't we look like the modern day Rat Pack? Anyway, loads of fun happened at this wedding. The had some kind of chocolate fountain at the reception and the whole place looked pretty cool but you can't tell that from these pictures, not enough lighting.

Here I am waving to the millions and millions of fans from above. Actually, when the bride was able to get all her "reception" cameras developed her exact words to me were, "Uh... there were a lot of picture of you." More like she was expecting me to go around taking pictures of all the other people who had been there instead of just posing for the camera the whole time.

On the other hand.... I think they turned out great!

This week we'll be showing you a few pictures from a recent wedding I was in. (my 16th in fact) So it should be fun for everybody. I got some really great pictures to show you!

I'm actually learning how to play it so I can make a character of everyone I don't like and beat them up in the ring. (how genius of me, I know)

My buddy from work is coming over tomorrow to kinda show me the ropes. Right now I'm just struggling to hit someone in this game much less pin them.

Too tired

I had a post I was going to make today but since I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning trying to stop a computer virus.... just nothing feels funny right now.

I'm going to bed at 9 tonight.... blah!

What I'm reading

The 1986 World Series Mets! (can you see the pattern here?) Jeremy got it for me on my brithday last month and that's what even started the whole DVD thing as well. It's an awesome book that tells you about.... well, you don't really care about that do you?

Real quick before I go, I went to pick up a package for my Dad's birthday at the Post Office yesterday. When I got there I handed them my ticket and they went in the back and got my package. (it was just some DVD's)

Anyway, she ends up bringing me this box that looked like it had been dunked in a bath tub for 10 minutes and was later wrapped by the Postal service in plastic! When I tore off the plastic the box practically FELL apart!

I was so mad when I asked them what happened and they said "Well, sir that's how we recieved the package to mail."

Right.

Like some guy sent them a wet cardboard box full of DVD's and said "Can I mail this?" I'm sure that happens everyday. I haven't checked the DVD's yet to see if they're damaged. I'm going to do that today.

Ok, story time's over.... everyone go home.

What I'm watching

Look what I got in the mail this week! YES!! It's from way back in 1986 whne my boys went all the way!! It was actually the first time I really started getting into baseball. Dad had us collecting baseball cards and going to the Met's AA team in Jackson almost every other week. So when I saw them for the first time on TV winning the World Series, it was a given that they would become my favorite team. Now MLB films has decided to put the entire 7 game series on DVD and I'm watching them again for the first time in 20 years! It's exciting!

I remember when I was a kid, placing my baseball cards down on the carpet in front of the TV while I watched it. I had them both teams cards in order of the lineup and would place them in the appropriate manner on my pretend baseball field.... it was fun. (c'mon, tell me you didn't use to do that as well?!)

Anyway this has given me loads of entertainment for the next few weeks so I thought I'd share it with you. (at least Rick will think this is cool)

Now a few updates before I go. The movie will have to be re-shot according to my editor, because the lighting wasn't done well enough. But I should have some pics to post anyway from the original filming within the next few weeks. Until then, it's back to the beloved comic strips.

One other thing, those trying to contact me by phone, you can't. It's offically dead. I can't make or recieve calls now, making it a glorified phone and message system. (I get the messages promtly 2 hours after you leave them folks) So I've orderd another phone as a replacemnt for this is and hopfully it'll be in by next week.

Wow, this is a long post.

The Best of Matt Wilkins Vol. 1 (04')

One last video I tried to make not too long ago was putting together some old clips of me mixed with some new for an awesome video for all to enjoy. (yes Kimber there actually was a Matt Wilkins "special edition" being made)

It was scheduled for a glorious Christmas release in 04', so what happened? Well... I kinda had people drop out of skits on a last minute notice and of course that bummed me out so that it never got finished. Maybe some day I'll pick up where I left off and get it done.... if there's money involved.

Sanrioman (02")

Here's one that should come as a suprise to most of you. Back in the day I actually tried to make a movie about one of my most popular comic book characters, Sanrioman. We were only able to shoot the intro before everyone invovled with the project quit on me. (hard to find good help these days. I was sad when the footage went missing after my camera was stolen later on that year. This was to be my biggest blockbuster ever!

Besides.... see how cute I am in my costume? You can't tell me this movie wasn't destined for greatness!!

WWF (01")

Who can forget the date, June 16th, 2001 the first "championship title" match between myself and Detroit's very own Andy Haggard...... I guess that would be all of you.

It started a series of backyard wrestling video's known simply as the Wilkins Wrestling Federation. (or WWF) The matches to follow included fights like:

Caleb P and Jordan vs The Boggs Bros.
2 rematchs of Andy vs Matt for the World belt!
Matt vs Branny for the Hardcore championship
Jordan vs Matt, (hardcore match and championship match)
3-way title match for the Hardcore belt. (Matt vs Caleb P vs Jordan)
Halloween Havoc rumble! (starring Big Ricky C!)
Mini-match Jad vs everyone.
Lightheavyweight championship, Matt vs Da Pudd (and later, Jad vs Da Pudd)
Tag Team chamionship Caleb P and Jordan vs the Mich Babes
World Championship Jordan vs Andy

Some of these (I think most)are on tape somewhere still. We had a lot of fun back in those days and no one really got hurt. (unless you count Jordan in our "Public saftey" announcement)

I know all of this is kinda like an inside joke to you but believe me... those were good times, good times....

Whoever wants to take me on for the World Belt or Hardcore Championship, I still have both belts in the trunk of my car..... bring it on.

The CWSC videos (96"-99")

For anyone who knows me from way back in the day will always remember how it all began. Every year at this camp, I would bring my video camera, shoot stuff and make it into a variety show after the conference was over.

Many a person used to wait anxiously by their mailbox to get the latest copy of my CWSC video and to see if their face made it on.

Good times, good times. I remember the first time I did this cut away scene from one camera to the next and had it edited JUST right.... yes it was the little things back then which made me extremely happy. Ahhhhh..... moving on....

Movie Time!

Hey everyone! Time for the BIG announcement! Cardco Productions (in assoiciation with Cardco Comix) is getting ready to release it's first ever short film! I've been working on getting everything ready for it this past month and we just completed filming it this weekend. Now all we have to do is edit it now.

I'm very excited about it, this looks like the first time I'll actually get a project like this finished. Now some of you already guessed it this weekend and have asked about what other products I've done in the past. So this week we'll be taking a little time away from the strip and showing you pictures (with stories)of all the other ideas I've had for short films. Some good, some sad. Some you'll remember hearing about and some you never even knew exsisted. Should be fun.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I don't know about you, but I could have used a little more sleep.

Since tomorrow's a busy day for me I might as well get my post over and done with for the weekend. (boy do I have a suprise for all of YOU) But I can't quite talk about it yet, gotta make sure everything goes well this weekend and if any luck I'll tell you all about my fun filled new adventures next week.

Here's my favorite image from the Rock Scissors Paper Society. It cracks me up! Yes I know you were expecting a comic strip today but I pushed the date back one day to begin the month long celebration of our new comic strip series. (which will run the whole month of June)

I'm pretty sure you're going to love it. The idea's been cracking me up for weeks. I only meant to make one of these strips but the more I got to talking about it with my brothers the funnier the idea got.

Anyway, hope everybodys Memorial Day went well..... I just woke up and my tummy hurts. (owie)

Wow, what a weekend. I'm so worn out by this past weekends events that I can hardly concentrate this morning! I need sleep! Between long hours of movings boxes all day and spending time with visiting friends at night, I'm so tired I could sleep all day..... but I have to be at work on Memorial Day.

Rock Paper Scissors

This weekend I made it on TV for the first time ever. And what was I on TV for you might ask? A Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament. Yep, I'm telling the truth. Of course yours truly got knocked out the very first round (by my sister-in-law) but I had a good time and was given a snow cone for my troubles so it all evened out in the end.

Since I'm having trouble sleeping tonight I'll go ahead and post this week's pic up. There I am on the littlest motor bike known to man, having a blast. This thing really was cool and could get up to speeds of 25mph. Needless to say, I want one for my birhday. But look at me will ya?! I look good on that hog!

We had a celebration at work last week, as our company climbed to #3 in the nation. I'm also doing motovational speeches every week to the lowest closers. (that's fun) So things at work are really rolling!

It's also given me a great idea for this week's comic strip. I'm sure you're going to like it. It'll be about my take on the whole "pep talk" thing.... again. But this time, I'M the one delivering it.

Here's one last picture of me on the ship actually writing out the storylines to the comic strips you've been reading for the past month. Jake took this picture of me and it kinda bothered me at the time since I didn't want to be disturbed but looking back at it, I'm glad he did..... because someday when the Smithsonian (sp?) ask for a picture of me to put up in their museum, I'll have one to present.

Here I am about to chow down on some escargo. (sp?) And you know what folks? It was mighty tastey too! By the way, that's a slice of bread on the plate just in case you're wondering. I had so many good meals on that ship it was incredible, but this dish topped the charts. I'd always wanted to try it and I highly recommend it to anyone else given the chance to try it as well. Ok, hope the weekend went well for you all I'm glad you've all been enjoying these "cruise" strips. I've had so many of you comment on them and I appreciate it. This week will be the final run of the series so we can move on to other topics. (I've already got a few in mind to draw right now) But we'll talk about them more next week. Later!
