Superman 4 (Review)

Finally in my quest to see all the Superman movies once again, I saw the final movie in the series.

Superman 4 is bad for so many reasons but none of which Christopher Reeves gave in his interviews on it.

Reeves says the movie was bad because they skimped on the budget and location shots but that's not why.

The story is awful, it's preachy and it's confusing.

Awful in that no one knows what they're doing or why they're doing it the entire movie.

Preachy for the "save the planet/anti-nuke" rhetoric which sounds like it was written by hippies from the 60's who didn't like the way things were going in the arms race.

Confusing in scenes like when Clark reveals himself to Lois, takes her on a cheaper ripped off flighy scene that pales in comparison to the first movie, only to....erase her memory with a kiss?!?!

We're not told ho or why it works but at that point you figure the writers didn't care either and just wanted a quick pay check before walking out the door.

It's really a shame because the potential was there. Hackman was back as Luthor, there was an interesting story line with Perry White fighting a corporate takeover of the Daily Planet and even the idea of a "sun god" which could have easily been re-worked to have been a Bizzaro story line.

But it was all wasted on this crap instead.

What a shame.
