Chucky Season 1 (Review)

I watched the movies. They tie together ok. Megan was more of a fan which is why I watched them. So when the TV series came along and they showed how much continuity there would be between it and the movies, I was intrigue.

After all, Cobra Kai has done a fantastic job with resurrecting an old movie series through TV, maybe Chucky could do the same?

It failed. Poorly.

First off, the kid actors are HORRIBLE. Most of them only have one mode and they stay in it the entire time. The writing is terrible. NONE of the motives from the kids make sense and for something that only went 8 episodes, it feels like it went on FOREVER.

Sure they bring back past cast members. Jennifer Tilly may have had the best line when she gets noticed by a kid and responds "How do you know who I am? Aren't you a little young to be watching "Bound"?"

That and the last line Chucky delivers in the show are the only times I laughed.

The rest of the season is devoid of humor and you care NOTHING for the new cast of kids.

They brought back the girl from Curse of Chucky and continued her story line, which was nice but not really given time to flourish. They brought back Andy and his sister. Andy is a terrible actor as an adult but he's brought back for nostalgia and that's it.

There's a mention to every previous movie in the series and even a background story for who Chucky was prior to the first movie. It even explains how he was being chased by the police in the opening movie.

It should've been enough to keep you interested but it wasn't.

This series was a sad failure of epic proportions. Megan watched the first episode and stopped right after. I wish I had been that smart as well.

Don't watch this. Total waste of time and energy. And with all the potential it had going in for it....that's a shame.
