Where did that phrase come from? Paint the Town Red

In 1837 the rebellious and wild Marquis of Waterford rioted the town with his friends in the Leicestershire town of Melton Mowbray, painting toll bars and buildings red.

And so from that moment on,a "ruckus good time" became known as such.
