Top 80 Vintage Board Games 2017: 40-31

40) Sub Search

Lovely game, one that avoids the 2 player curse because it's so dang good!! This will slip a little in the ranks but for the most part hold its own.

39) Vampire Hunter

I have high hopes of this one falling only slightly as well. Great Halloween themed game and the only one you have to play in the dark. May even go up if it gets played enough this year!

38) Escape the Mad Mummy

Super fun fast-paced game that I love playing. It will fall a little I predict because of newer games entering the list but I hope it doesn't fall by too much.

37) Wildstorm Card Game

LOVED this game as a kid! Played it all the time. It's been years now and may never happen again since I know of no one else who collects them let alone still plays it. Sadly this means this'll drop in 2018.

36) Rummikub

Such a great game with a lot of memories but I think this one will fall hard because I'm having a hard time getting it to the table.

35) How to Succeed in Business

Believe it or not, this one may jump a few spots because I just had a friend move back into town who loves this show as much as I do and plays board games too!! I foresee a strong ranking in 2018 for this one!

34) LCR

Another quick simple dice game which may climb in the ranking due to how easy it is to set up and play at any time. Great game!

33) Bazaar

I really hope to break this out with my board game group. Strong game with a lot of strategy. If I can make it happen this game will rise in my ranks and if not....well you know.

32) High Bid

Great auction game that gets outshined by me Ebay game so I don't really bring it out anymore. For that reason I'm afraid it's going to fall a bit in 2018.

31) Mr Creepy's Tomb of Doom

Super fun game. I hope to see climb in 2018 because it's another game Megan loves playing and I do too. Still one of the biggest surprises I've ever had when first playing a game.

That's all for now. See you next week folks!!

Top 80 Vintage Board Games 2017: 50-41

50) Shark Attack

Fast simple game that may drop a few spots on the list this year but that's only because of any new ones joining.

49) War of the Networks

Great TV game but sadly will drop because The Networks is coming out with an expansion this year. That and TV Wars being in my collection combine as bad news for this game in future rankings.

48) Murder She Wrote

Great game. If I can bring it to the table with the right group and may be able to hang on to it's spot for this year's ranks.

47) Conspiracy

Absolutely lovely game! I just don't know anyone else out there who'd appreciate it as much as I do. For that reason, this one is going to fall on the list for 2018.

46) Q-Bert Card Game

One of the few card games in my collection and I love it! So much fun. I think this one will have no problem standing firm on the list.

45) Tornado Rex

This is a game I still get request for from my nephews so I expect it to either hold tight to its ranking or climb a little due to its popularity.

44) Knockout

Megan and I love the game, which is why it was ranked this high. If it continues to get played, it'll stay firm on the list.

43) Dynomite

Great game but doesn't come out of often as it used to. I predict this one to drop slightly on the list but still be in my Top 50 when it's said and done.

42) Rattler

Another favorite of Megan's. This game will explode on the list if it does well on the next "Girls Boardgame Night"

41) Dungeon Dice

Fun quick Dice game that I'm afraid isn't going to come to the table much so it'll slip a bit as well, through no fault of its own.

Top 80 Vintage Board Games 2017: 60-51

Continuing my discussion of my recent board game rankings I give you the next 10 on the list!

60) Labyrinth

Fun game but I don't see it getting to the table that much. My youngest nephew was the one keeping it alive but since he's moved on to other games I believe this one's going to take a fall.

59) Midnight Party

Another great game that I think will slip a little in the rankings for 2018 only because it's hard to get attention on my shelf when guests arrive. This one gets lost in the shuffle.

58) Crocodile Hunter

I love this game. And if it doesn't get forgotten on my shelf it could rise. But that's the problem with these middle of the road games, I lot of times they get overlooked.

57) Dead Stop

I love this 2 player game but it's going to drop on the rankings in 2018 because I'm the only one who wants to play it.

56) Go For It

This is another game that'll take a small tumble but it doesn't mean i won't love it any less! Great :"unintentionally" 80's themed game!

55) Tank Battle

Another game that's destined to fall I'm afraid. It didn't gain in spots on the Vintage list when every other game did. (not a good sign) I love the game but it's part of the 2 player curse in my collection.

54) Forbidden Bridge

Great Milton Bradley game that's going to drop again on my list for 2018 because it'll get passed up by newer games I add to the list.

53) Polar Dare

This hit the table with success last year. Could be enough to avoid dropping in 2018, especially if we play it again.

52) Smurf's Ahoy

One more game night with this and I think it'll climb a few spots. Everyone I bring it out to, loves it. It's Topple with Smurfs!

51) Sabacc

This one is going to fall hard because there's really no one else interested in the game but me. I have the only authorized Star Wars copy available too, but that doesn't mean much if you're not a fan.

Top 80 Vintage Board Games 2017: 70-61

70) Pie Face

Due to it's continued popularity, I think this one will remain the same on the list. It's a "must" for our family vacation.

69) Bulldog Dozer

Great game but with my youngest nephew growing up I don't think he likes this as much as he used to. For that reason, this one will drop.

68) Memory

Classic game I love but am finding it harder to bring it to the table due to others lack of interest. Sadly, this one will drop again in 2018.

67) Ewoks Save the Trees

I love this little game! I hope to play it once again this year and keep it steady on the list. Those plastic ewok figurines is what makes the game fun to play!

66) Connect Four

Back in the day this would've been high on my list. I loved this game! But the 2 player curse will lead it to drop again on my list in 2018.

65) Feudal

Awesome chess-like game. I hope to re-introduce this one to my nephews and their friends who compete in a chess tournament at their school every year. If successful this my stay on the list at the same, if not, it'll drop.

64) X-Men Alert! and X-men Under Siege

These two games aren't that bad, I just don't play them that much. If that changes this year you may see them rise, but like almost every game, they also stand the risk of falling if the opposite is true.

63) Monopoly

Believe it or not I almost bought ANOTHER copy of this for Megan's Christmas present but decided at the last minute not to pull the trigger on it. This game will always be on my list, for the memories if nothing else. That being said, I'm hopeful it will rise above the others and stay firm on the list at this spot.

62) Life

Actually played this game in 2017. That's why it jumped Monopoly in the ranking. It could hold that spot if it gets to the table again. But if not, it'll drop down below Monopoly once again.

61) Curse of the Idol

Such a beautiful looking game but it needs more game time or it will fall once again on my list for 2018.

The next ten are coming tomorrow!

Religious Freedom is still alive in Mississippi

Recently the Supreme Court decided not to take the case in a law passed in Mississippi which provides religious freedom to businesses. The media had a field day on it. Calling it "anit" this and "anti" that. But it makes sense.

Look at the above sign posted at a place of business. Looking at this, I would say these folks discriminate on smokers, bare feet and tap dancing, just to name a few.

Now here's a wild idea, if I'm any of the above I could perhaps go to another place who would be happy to take my business. That's what people are missing here....it's called "the point"

The point is not discrimination (which is wrong) but giving businesses the right to stand by their religious beliefs that would be contrary to their principles. This isn't just Christians I'm referring to here.

Imagine going into a Hindu restaurant and ordering a hamburger. (something I'd probably do) and having the staff tell you they don't serve beef. Should I call them bigots for adhering to their beliefs that the cow is sacred or should I be understanding and go somewhere else?

It's true that no other religion has been more attacked than Christianity and having a law which protects those beliefs should be what America is all about.

If a place won't let you enter, due to certain lack of clothing, go somewhere else that will.

Top 80 Vintage Board Games 2017: 80-71

So on my YouTube channel for the past few months I've been counting down my top boardgames. Now that's I'm finished I wanted to share with you my predictions for how well these games will fare into the next year. Also this list is to provide everyone a short visual of how my collection added up in 2017. Here we go!

80) Carrier Strike

Fun game but a 2 player, which means it won't come to the table that often. As I add new games to my collection, this one could be dropping.

79) Fat Chance

Another fun little game that sadly can't live up to it's potential due to poor design. Again, this is another one that could drop in 2018.

78) Pizza Party

My little brother Caleb;s favorite vintage game. I love it too but again expect it to drop as new games enter the list.

77) Shake Bingo

An oldie but a goodie! This game most likely won't see any game play this year so it could tumble like the rest.

76) Battleship

My lowest rated game of the "classics" for no reason other than it being 2 player, which means it rarely makes it to the table. Another one that will most likely drop.

75) Othello

Believe it or not, this one has hit the table more than I thought it would. It may remain steady on the list if the trend continues.

74) Crash Canyon

On a mission to find a ton of cheap micro machines to play this game with. But if I'm unable to find them at a decent price, this game will fall.

73) Mille Bornes

I really love this game. If I can play it just a couple of times it should stay the same on this list. If I have a great time playing it with a group, it may even rise!

72) Chopper Strike

Totally Awesome game. Too bad it's 2 player, that's what hurts it the most. However, I always seem to get a game in every year. If that trend continues then it won't fall much on the list.

71) Dragon Strike

It's Megan's family that keeps this one alive. They love the game. Who knows? If it continues to remain as popular, it may climb on my list in 2018.

Ok folks, that's all for now. For more in depth reviews of the games check out my YouTube channel playlist!

The Dinner Date

Just got reminded about this short movie I made years ago and wanted to repost it today back on the blog for old time's sake. Oh Julie.... I miss you my friend!

New Year's Resolution 2018

Now that we've turned the page to a new year I thought I'd share some personal goals I have for myself!

 1) Re-finance the house

It's time to get a jump on paying off the house. I've been pushing it off due to being too busy to devote time to it but I really want to start getting some serious down payments on it to expedite the mortgage. I don't plan on paying it off any time soon, but I do want to take a bite out of it and I think a re-fi is a perfect way to start!

 2) Clean out more junk

One of the best feelings I had for the year was getting rid of a bunch of my clothes. Megan and I did the same to the billion of coffee cups we had in our cabinets and now I'm looking at rummaging through more of our junk and throwing/giving it away as well! The more I get rid of the happier I'll be!
3) Weightlifting

Time to get back into weightlifting. At the moment I only do cardio but I plan on stepping it back up into the weight department again soon. Plus, if dinner theater ever finds a new home, I may be reprising my role as Captain Awesome for the next show and the Captain had a little more muscle than I do now, so there's no time like the present to get this started.

Ok folks, that's mine. What's your goals for 2018?

Kiss, kiss, Bang, bang (Review)

Before he was Iron Man, Robert Downy Jr played in this movie. I recently got to see it again after remembering how much I loved it the first time and hoped it'd be as good as I remembered.....it was better.

In the movie, Downy plays a thief, who becomes an actor, who becomes a detective all in one week. It's narrated by his character, who tells of his wild rise with witty jokes punched in along the way. This movie never stops or gets boring. The story is rich and the characters have great depth. I'm amazed this goes unnoticed by fans, but then again, I just saw it again last week and had forgot about it until I saw it on my Prime membership.

If you have Prime, check it out. It's worth your time!

Broken Contract

So I'm looking at my contract and it says I'm due a copy of the book I helped work on for Sequart, although it's been out for over a month now and I haven't gotten it yet which leads me to believe I never will. I've reached out to them in the past but didn't get a response so I guess I have to buy a copy myself to add to my collection.

Kind of sucks but with a small publisher I guess they couldn't afford it. Oh well.

BFG Review

I know the movie bombed in theaters but because it was on Netflix and was directed by Spielberg, I had to give it a try.

In short, it's not an exciting movie. A super thin plot with beautiful scenes would you expect from the director. I really thought I'd like this a lot more since I liked another movie of his that bombed "A.I." But this one was way below expectations.

I wasn't bad but I definitely wouldn't watch it again. Is it worth your time? Probably not.
