I've been thinking about it all weekend long. With the Super Bowl right around the corner, what were the best football films of all time? Only these two stand out. Both were based on true stories and perhaps that's the reason I love them so much.
I'm sure there are a few more "note worthy" ones ya'll could think of (please don't say "Remember the Titans") but I believe this is the cream of the crop!

How could you leave off "Little Giants" starring Rick Moranis? Come on over here, sit back on the couch, grab a bowl of popcorn, and I'll pop the tape into the VHS player. It doesn't get any better than that.
"Peanut butter and jelly sandwich? You'll never get anywhere treating your helmet like a lunchbox."
You should really just stick with baseball movies b/c you clearly don't know anything about football.
1) Brian's Song
2) Facing the Giants
3) Varsity Blues
4) The Program
5) Any Given Sunday
6) Heaven Can't Wait
7) Jerry Maguire
8) The Replacements
9) The Longest Yard (Original)
10)Waterboy
11)We Are Marshall
I could go on and on. Some of those aren't "classics" but they are all memorable football movies. And Remember the Titans is a great film. Alot better than Mark "Say hello to your mother for me" Walhberg's INVINCIBLE.
Should have been called UNWATCHABLE.
EDIT: Heaven Can Wait.
I'm stoopid.
What about "Radio" and "Friday Night Lights"? I do have to agree with Mark on "Little Giants". Mark, if Matt doesnt want to watch it with you, then I will!

I also always liked Necessary Roughness. Though it's been a loooong time since I've seen it. Oh and not too long ago I saw Leatherheads, and though it had alot of boring moments, it had some really great moments, including the very beginning of pro-football and the changes that were made and why they came about. That part was cool!
Whew, ok. (for the second time I've tried to post this) here we go:
Never saw Little Giants, Brian's Song, Facing the Giants, Heaven Can Wait, The Replacements, Radio The longest Yard (original) or Leatherheads.
I do agree Necessary Roughness and We Are Marshall should have been on the list. I had thought about them but forgot when I started making this post.
The Program is good but it's been a while since I've seen it and I didn't know whether it was still worthy or not.
Varisity Blues. Seriously? Besides whip cream and the guy from Dawson's Creek what else does anyone remember from that movie?!
Any Given Sunday. Um. No. Oliver Stone. Uh. Yeah. No.
Waterboy- delightful but not Adam's best.
And Jerry Maguire I consider to be a more of a sports agent story than a football story. I conceed that it is debatable (Jeremy has the same view as you do) but I just don't see it as being a true "football movie"
I'd go on further but Megan says this is too long a post already. Cheers.
I don't know much about football, but I LOVED Leatherheads. Seriously. Pretty funny. Miss you guys!
Jerry Maguire fits. It also fits into Great Romantic Movies, Great Movies with Cute Kids, and also Great Movies Featuring Somebody Who Is Batcrap Crazy.
I'll vote for Leatherheads too. Clooney is great and Soft Face Boy isn't too bad himself.
I never saw it, but there's The Junction Boys about the Bear and Cruise is in another movie called All the Right Moves. You should really do more research on these things.
