Cult of Chucky Review

Now that it's been over a month since the movie's been out, I can finally give me SPOILER review.

I've watched Child's Play a couple of times back in the day and always enjoyed them. I thought "Bride" and "Seed" of Chucky were below par but with "Curse" I thought the series had gotten back on track.

And then this one came out....

I'm not saying it's bad, it's just...confusing. The plot makes no sense and we really aren't given a reason why Chucky went through with the whole thing in the first place. It ends on a "cliffhanger" which means another installment is in the works. I'll see it but I hope they do a better job at explaining the story.

For the good stuff, the original actor who played "Billy" in the first 3 movies is back and has more screen time than the previous movie's cameo. With all the effort they go through trying to keep the story in continuity with the others it's disappointing they chose not to tighten the story up in this one.

Basically, there are several "Chucky's" because the doll has finally found a way to "copy" himself on to others. We're told he picked it up in a "Voo-doo for Dummies" book (which is funny) but that's really all they ever say about it. Andy is captured but Chucky but not killed...though that was his plan earlier, Chucky also wants to kill the girl from the last movie but spares her too because it was all "part of the plan" though previous scenes contradict that. It feels like someone wrote one half of the script while the other half was written bye someone who skimmed through the first part and made up his on ending before checking if it made any sense.

Either way it's still on Netflix so if you're board and want to check it out go ahead. If you never saw anything after Child's Play 3, you're good to go ahead and not get involved.
