McRib is back!

Actually, it's been here for a while, but you should go get you one if you haven't already! MythBusters investigated what makes up a McRib. Guess what it is? Pork.

Yep. Surprised you didn't it?!

Also while you're at it, check out the latest Documentary on Atari. I watched it a few weeks ago and it's pretty good! It talks about the issue of making ET and how it led to eventual downfall of the company and the video game industry. (if only for a short time)

Good stuff!

New music

You know you're getting older when your 2 favorite bands come out with new albums and you don't find out about it till months later. (sigh)
Weezer AND New Found Glory!! I can't believe I didn't know about this sooner! It's truly Xmas come early for me!

The Death of Black Friday

Last year Megan used up her ONE coupon, to have me shop with her during Xmas. (I only go out once a year to the mall) And it was during my most hated day of all... Black Friday.

Imagine my surprise when I found the stores empty of customers! Thanks to "Black Thursday" Friday traffic is now tanking. Ironic that the one day retail pushes on you to buy has now been eliminated by their greed to "get" to you first with Thursday deals that trump anything Friday has to offer!

I for one am glad they're eating their own tail over this. I shop Cyber Monday anyway so I don't mind.

(sigh) What a world!

Happy Thanksfgiving Day!

My favorite holiday of the year has come around once again and I'm thankful for so many things.

The first would be my family. Mom and Dad are supportive of every decision we make and are always there for us if we need them. I love them both very much and am incredibly thankful for the both of them. My brothers (and even Charity) are a blessing to me every day. I thank God for the close and loving relationships we've had together over the years.

Secondly, my job. I'm blessed at doing something I enjoy and I know there's many folks out there who can't say the same. I love my boss and the work I do. I'm completely happy at Chase.\

Finally, I'm thankful for every single friend I've made. They give me joy when I speak to them, fond memories and good times to come.

Folks, have a wonderful Thanksgiving and God bless you all!

A beautiful thing

Look what I snagged me on Amazon! After months of waiting I finally got to order a case of their newer shipment.

These babies sell out fat on Amazon so I was lucky to grab a case at regular price when I did!

If THIS isn't something to be thankful for, I don't know what is!

Good bye Saturday Morning Cartoons

Did you know the major networks stopped playing cartoons on Saturday?! When did this happen?! Such a sad day!

Back when I was a kid that was what Saturday mornings were all about! (that in a boat load of sugary cereal) I have so many great memories of waking up with my brothers at 6am just to watch the Rocky and Bullwinkle show, then on to every exciting cartoon after that!

We'd even switch back and forth to the channel playing the best cartoons. I remember when the fall line up came out and you'd be torn between watching "The Karate Kid" or "Chipmunks"

Those were the days....

But now with channels dedicated to children's programming 24/7 I guess this was inevitable. Either way, I'm sad it's gone now.

Selfishness

One of the things I hate most about people is when they're so selfish that they don't care about anyone else but themselves. This month is about giving thanks and all they can think about is what's in it for them.

It's a sad way to live your life and I never understood why they act the way they do.

I grew up in a family that was thankful for everything they got. We were poor growing up and I never realized it until years later I was poking fun at my mom at how she doesn't cook nasty things like liver and pigs feet anymore only to find out, she did that because they didn't have enough money to feed us more.

Dang. I never knew before that day. Mom and Dad never sat around the house complaining about how bad life was or the things they wanted to make their lives easier. They were happy. Happy for everything God had given them and I feel the same way too.

You hear people complain about money, their job, their house or some trifle thing they don't have but if they thought about all of the millions of blessings they did have, they wouldn't complain so much. That's why I always try and remind them of the "haves" over the "have nots"

It's just a better way to live your life!

The truth about DSL

So I've had DSL for a month now and I can safely say there's no difference between it and cable.

They say cable's faster, but I can't tell the difference. It seems just as fast if not better! Cable slows down when everyone around you is using it. So far I've had no bad experience with DSL like that.

Cable goes out more frequently. True I've only had it for a month but when the tornado came through Monroe last month everyone was without Cable for a week. DSL? It was working the moment I got power restored.

The ONLY bad thing I can say about DSL is that it's not for people uploading videos to YouTube. The upload speeds for DSL are EMBARRASSING compared to Cable. What took me 10 minutes take 10 HOURS to upload now.

I don't mind. I turn it on at night before I go to bed and the next morning it's almost done. Sometimes I go over to my parents and just upload them there since it only takes a few minutes each time. But that's not enough to convince me to go back to Comcast. No way.

When U-Verse gets here it'll be faster than cable on all counts and I can't wait to see Comcast go out of business here when it does!

If you hate cable but were afraid of DSL, go ahead and make the switch for a much lower monthly bill. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Fun Facts about November

Just thought I'd give you a few fun facts to share with friends, family and co-workers this week:

- The first College Football game was on Nov 6th 1869 between Rutgers and Princeton.
- Canada celebrates Thanksgiving Day in October.
- Before Thanksgiving Day was declared a National Holiday the only 2 that existed were Independence Day and Washington's Birthday!
- 91% of American eat Turkey on Thanksgiving Day

Ok that last stat was lame, but the rest I found interesting. Hope you did too!

Bye Bye Apple

I sold my crappy iPad 2 to Amazon and I'm finally Apple free!

I bought in to the hype all those years ago and even "justified" my actions years later by saying it was great for surfing the web and checking email. Which was literally the only thing I COULD do on it.

My Surface does all that and more. Even this RT I have now does a million times better than my iPad ever did.

I'm glad I at least tried it, because now I know. I'm torn whether to go after the Kindle or just stay with what serves me best.

I didn't need 2 tablets anyway.

Goodbye Apple products! I won't miss you one bit!

The search cotinues!

Looks like I keep finding old EU material all over the place! A few weeks ago I discovered 2 old RPG magazines that contained old Star Wars adventure ideas from West End Games!
Also got to read the "unpublished" material that was cut from the Essential Guide to Warfare. AMAZING STUFF!

Still nice to know there's still content out there I haven't seen yet. Hopefully they'll be more of it in the future if our EU Rebellion is successful!

What I want for Xmas.... a Defensive Coordinater.

So a few years back when Auburn took a downward spiral and everyone was mocking me, I didn't care.

Because in the end I got what I wanted. Gene out, Gus in.

This year I feel the same way. Auburn's loss yesterday didn't upset me one bit. You know why? Because I want Ellis Johnson OUT and (as of today) Will Muschamp IN!!!

Will's not the best head coach (case in point Florida's past few seasons) but he's one of the BEST Defensive Coordinates in the game! He helped my boys look SUPER good in the Tommy Tubberville days and I always thought he looked good in orange and blue!

Gus, let's do this. Ellis is a nice guy but our defense has fallen APART at the end of the season and there is NO EXCUSE for the seasonal decline. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make our final win of the season be getting this guy back because if so..... it'll feel like I walked away with another championship!

So true

Continuing my "thankful" posts this month, I read this book the other day and wanted to share some of the finer points.

The phrase itself is so true. People only "get" to us when we let them.

Never worry about what so-and-so said about you. (or you heard "was said" about you) Who cares? What's it matter to them what they think? You know the truth and you know who you are and that's what matters!

I'd also add, Don't let situations get the best of you!

The other day I was looking for my lunch bag for work and couldn't find it. I was getting frustrated at first (because someone had moved it) but started to laugh at the situation itself. Why am I so upset about a lunch bag? I'll just find something else to bring my lunch in. And I did!

People let the smallest things annoy them. Some go as far as pitching an adult "fit" when things don't go their way. My advice is to let those things go. Have no worries. It'll all work out for the best in the end!

Laugh, love and praise God for the many blessings He's sent you. Do this and your "Sunny Days" will never end.

Have a good weekend folks!

Sweet Treats long gone

Thought I'd reminisces some more about snacks no longer around.
 Turtle Pies

My goodness. I thought these were the best things ever to cross my lips back in the day! They probably tasted like garbage but I could've eaten a whole box of them as a kid! I NEVER got tired of these things and thought they'd be around forever as the greatest snack/treat in history!

Obviously not.
 Giggles

My mom bought us these all the time. I wasn't a fan. They tasted plain and who wants to look at a cookie that seems to be mocking you? I won't miss them.

O'Boises

The super salty potato chip that had air pockets in it and a monster crunch. I thought they were ok but you couldn't eat too many of these puppies due to the massive amount of slat on them. Seriously, I bet SeaWorld throws these into their tanks to keep the saltwater fish happy. Geez!
Bonkers

Fruity flavored chews that my brother Jeremy loved as a kid. I thought they were quite tasty myself and imagined the strawberry ones were what Smurfberries tasted like. Yeah, that's weird, I know. But it's true!

The Death of the Video Store

Video stores used to be the everywhere back in the day, but now with Redbox, Netflix and a million other ways to stream movies they've all but died out.

To my knowledge we have no stores in Monroe anymore and it's sad. When looking for a movie to rent it's whatever's on Redbox or Netflix limited menus. What to see something older or in a particular genre? Sorry. You'll have no luck finding it anywhere if your local video store closed down too.

However, you could argue that the Video Rental Stores shot themselves in the foot for not adhering to the change in the market. Lower priced rentals and specials like Blockbuster Unlimited, came too late into the market as the populace had already moved on without them.

A few weeks after I accepted my job at Chase, I was offered a management position with Blockbuster. I turned them down for 2 reasons. The fact that I already had a job and secondly that I didn't think Blockbuster would be around much longer. The competition had already left them in the dust.

Still, I miss Video Stores and wish we at least had a mom and pop one open today. I'd rent me a cheesy Sci-Fi movie right now!

December Movie Review

Let's get the jump on reviewing the upcoming movies for the month of December shall we?

Annie

If I see this trailer one more time on theaters I'm going to choke someone.

 Exodus: Gods and Kings

Again, like Noah, this film looks amazing. But I'm sure just like Noah, I won't go to the movies to see it. Maybe on rental or better yet, I'll rent "The Ten Commandments" and leave it at that.

The Hobbit: The Battle for your Holiday Cash (part 3)

I hear it's loosely based off the novel! When it comes out on DVD I'll borrow them from a friend and suffer thru them then. But that's still a long ways off!

 Night at the Museum: 3

I saw the first one, I think I saw the 2nd one and I'm sure I'll see the 3rd one when it comes on HBO. People will go see this since Robin Williams is in it, but it'll take more than coward to drag me to the box office to see.

Into the Woods

I know this is based off the Broadway Show, I know everyone's excited for it too, but I just can't tke another twisted take on Fairy Tales. It feels too overdone now in Hollywood and this time, I'm just not biting.

I know this is a "bah-humbug" spirit during movie season but I can't help it. Just nothing looks good to me this month.

Making Edge of Tomorrow the best film I've seen in theaters to date! But we'll make that official for the year, once December 31st roles around.

What about you, folks? Any of you plan to drag your no-good, livy-livered, rotten keaster out to any of these flicks?

Lemme know...

Goodbye rides

Last year Megan and I got to do the Backlot Tour at Disney World. I'm glad we did in time because a few months ago it was announced they had closed the ride permanently. Which make sense seeing as how it wasn't very popular anymore and probably cost a ton to operate with all the water and pyro special effects.

I am glad I went on it, because seeing the space ship from Flight of the Navigator made it all worth it!

The other ride which was permanently closed, crushed my soul when I heard the news. Maelstrom. The Viking ride at Norway in Epcot. It was my favorite ride there and they closed it to put a "Frozen" ride in it's place.

I understand why. They need a "Frozen" ride quick to capitalize on  it's popularity and this was the easiest solution. But I'm not happy with it!

K, I'm done griping for now. C-ya!

How to die alone

Read a story the other day about how this old lady (not the one in the pic) is all alone in an Old Folks home, without any family coming to see her.

Oh the family's alive, they just never visit and you feel so sorry for the old lady. She tells the reporter she misses them and wishes they would come see her. She breaks down in tears when she tells him, she doesn't want to die alone without any family or friends.

Of course the reporter's heart breaks for this lady and he goes to track down her family members to ask why they won't visit this poor woman.

After interviewing the families, he found out why. "She never cared about us." one member said. "She never came to any of our weddings or graduations, even when we offered to give her a ride. She only wanted to sit and watch TV in her home."

Another family member said "She wasn't around for birthdays, never wanted to go out and sat there watching TV when you came to visit. It's like we bothered her being around."

The reporter found out that most of her friends didn't speak to her either because she held grudges for petty things.

"She once got mad at me because I had more lights on my house for Christmas than she did." one neighbor replied. "I offered to help put more on for her house as well but she told ne to forget about it and slammed the door. She never spoke to me again."

The article ended with the reporter seeing a different point of view. This wasn't a lady who'd been mistreated and was the victim as she had portrayed. She was in fact the reason for her loneliness!

Being selfish and insecure around others had pushed those people away to where all she had left was herself. Instead of asking forgiveness from others, she's bitter to them, like they owe her something.

It made me think how we hold grudges from time to time and push others away. Does anyone look at things long term anymore? Do they not realize the choices we make today can affect the future?!

I hope we have a better grasp of life than our own shortsightedness when it comes to these things.

I know after reading this article I sure will going forward.

November is the month of being thankful and counting your blessings and I plan to do that every day of the month leading up to Thanksgiving.

I hope you'll be doing the same.

Have a good weekend folks!

Classic Juno

Remember the old Juno? Where you didn't need internet to check your email? This service was free and VERY popular once upon a time in Dial-up land.
I remember the simple interface that was so easy to navigate. I still have my account and use it frequently to this day.

Ah, the good ole days!

Remembering KB

KB Toys was an old toy store that EVERY mall had back in the day. As a kid, I always loved when our mom finally let us in the store to look around.

Walking up and down those isles made all the countless hours at JC Penny and Sears seem worth it.

In 2008 they shuttered all there stores and were bought out by Toys R Us, who only uses their brand name on a few toys and nothing more.

A sad shadow of what this mega giant of mall stores used to be.

Social Casualties

Promo photo for a new Web Series I'm in.

I'm playing a cop who's in the gray on a lot of moral issues.

Will Greg learn the error of his ways or will his faults catch up with him?

Find out on Social Casualties!

I'll let you know when and where when I find out.

Here's the picture again

It didn't post the first time I see.

You ever have one of those days...

Words can't express how I feel when I look at this picture.

A "what the?!" Moment is the first thing that crosses my brain followed by a slightly sick feeling as if I don't like where this is going, then laughter lots and lots of laughter. Laughter at how ludicrous this looks

Then comes the shame as to why I laughed at it in the first place, replaced quickly by
laughter once morel

So I thought I'd share.

Have a good day folks! (This guy did)
