Last week Megan bought a Happy Meal (I know... chicks, right?) and on the box it had "30 Years" on it. Talking about how long the Happy Meal's been around.

Dude. I'm older than a Happy Meal? How's that make me feel? Weird. Best Happy Meal toy? Hmmm.... I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

How sad

Chalk another celebrity death up. Last week the Taco Bell Chiwahwah passed away at the tender old age of 15.

I think my favorite commercial he was in was the one where he was trying to trap Godzilla. "Here lizard, lizard..." funny stuff.

Finale

Lord Savage
Spider
What a show! Without a doubt, my most favorite one ever to do! It's no secret. I've always been a huge fan of Jekyll and Hyde. I never thought however it would come to a community theatre. I remember my first day on Beauty and the Beast the director asked me. "Now Matt, what plays are you interested in doing?" My first response.."Jekyll and Hyde!"

He looked at me with a frown and said "Any others?"

This play was never a popular choice by any board members (and critics) since it is a (gasp) seriously dark play that has little to no humor in it!! It'll never make it!

Or at least that's what they said. After all but 2 shows being sell outs, I'm sure Hal (the director) was smiling at his board meeting last Monday. He beat the odds, amazed the critics and put me in the most unbelievable play ever!

True, I love Jekyll and Hyde which makes me slightly biased in my opinion here but if you got to do your dream play you'd be saying the same thing right now. Speaking of critics we were given another rave review this past weekend from someone on the LA Board of Fine Arts. Who admitted to never liking the Broadway version of the show but was amazed at how well our performance of it was. (I've posted the actual letter below)

In my short career, I've been proud to be a part in every play I had a role in. Whether it was Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast, Willard in Footloose or Speed in Oscar and Felix they all will bear good memories.

I'd like to thank Hal, the entire cast and everyone who got a chance to come down and see the play. I know a half hour drive to Bastrop from Monroe isn't fun (believe me, I've made the trip enough times) but I do appreciate you all.

Jekyll and Hyde was the perfect way to end it all. I have no regrets and will always remember my experiences in it.

Close the curtain, turn off the lights, and lock the doors on your way out. Matt has left the building.... smiling. : )

Here are some pictures from jekyll and hyde! Matt wants me to post them so I am.

These pictures were taking at Sunday's performance. It was the last show, and tradition is you have to do something different that you haven't done during other performances. Well I thought I would sport the Princess Leia buns, so I did. Matt loved it and had to take the picture. Its not my favorite choice of pic, but he likes it.

This was my favorite show ever! I enjoyed being a part of something this amazing and the cast was fantastic. Matt did a great job of playing the rich guy as well as the creepy pimp guy! All in all I'm so glad he talked me into doing it. I'm sad it's over and I really hope they bring it back.

Sold out

Well, maybe not for Thursday, but tonight and tomorrow night we did! Sunday is a few seats from selling out as well. But doubt worry! If you still want to go Hal (the director) is going to open up some more balcony seating for anyone who still wants in.

This show is going great. Ask anyone who's seen it. We even had a lady tell us yeaterday that it was her 4th time to see it!! Amazing.

And yes, I will talk a little about the "review" that was given by a "Jekyll and Hyde" fanatic from southern LA.

He gave an enormous "thumbs up" for the play and the statement that's getting the most giggles from the cast is the "over-glowing" report he gave about me. And I quote....

"Matt Wilkins is also a perfect Spider! I would be interested to see this guy do the role of Jekyll and Hyde as well! Great voice, evil as hell...and his performance of the Facade reprise sent chills down my spine. The audience went crazy after that one!"

The only other people I know who would write something like that would be my mom and maybe grand mother. I think it's a little over the top, but there was a "star" placed over Victors dress area yesterday with my name on it. So it's at least good for a couple of yucks here.

I'm glad the guy enjoyed the show and I do admit, it has been an awesome role to play. Maybe I'll have Megan on here next week to talk about her experience in the play.

OK folks, that's all for now!

Remember when I had long hair?

Ok, so as most of you remember I grew out my hair about 5 years ago. I've posted pictures in the past but never and video footage. Well, I found some footage of a skit I was filming at the time my hair was starting to get out of control.

After reviewing it, I've decided to post it... or most of it. It's a little long but I've broken it down into parts so you won't get too bored.

Oh and don't worry, there's more comic coming around the corner, I just thought now would be a good time for a break.

C-ya tomorrow for the first post!

Bravo!

A sell out crowd got to see an amazing performance tonight! We had the whole crowd gasping at every scene. There were so many excited people coming out of the theatre tonight it was incredible!! Here's a few photos to gander at...
Hyde.... awesome of course.
Jekyll with Lucy
Hyde's first kill.
Hyde kills me : (
Megan's so cute!.... I mean.... Oh look! Everyone's so scared!!!

We sold out Saturdays performance and ticket sales are indicating the Sunday will be a sell out too. I've never been in a play were every show has sold out before. Can this be the one to do it? It certainly seems so.

We have people coming from all over the area to see it too. A few people from south Louisiana even drove up to attend the show when they heard it was being performed. It amazing me what kind of a draw a show like this has. And for that matter... I've never even used the word "Tenacity" before in a sentence.

Good stuff folks! Good stuff!!

But of course.... it's Jekyll and Hyde. WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO SEE THIS!!

I'm so impressed by this cast as well. I've never seen such tenacity in a cast!

Or better yet....

Remeber when Jordan didn't look like a girl?

Preview night update

Preview night went awesome. I've never seen a more focused cast! This is the best play I've EVER been a part of! The set, the music, even the special effects are just amazing. I'm so glad I got to be a part of this!

Now as for tickets.... Saturday night? No dice. Sold out. Friday and Sunday still have a few seats open but not many. If you're planning on coming this weekend, please call before you make the drive. They may sell out tomorrow.

Hal (the director) tells me there's plenty still open for next weekend if you still want a chance to see it. But I would suggest buying them in advance..... I smell "sell out" for next weekend as well.... Adios!

Ahhh....

Remember the good ole days when Caleb's hair didn't look like a dead rodent? : )

Jekyll and Hyde Tix Update

Ok, so I here we're coming close to selling out the first weekend, but have no fear! If you aren't able to get tickets this weekend we'll also be peforming it again next weekend as well!!

I'm sure there are plenty left for Thursday, but if you still plan on coming this weekend to see it, call ahead to the Rose Theatre in Bastrop to reserve you seats now!

K. I'm off...

Coming soon...

Here's a few pictures of us from last night rehearsing the play Jekyll and Hyde which opens this weekend. Tickets are $15 and $7 for students.

Preview night the prices will be slightly lower, $10 admission and $5 for students. A lost of work has been put into the set, costumes and music. I'm so excited about this play!! Sure we have a few weak links in the show, but overall I think this is the best one I've been a part of yet!

One more practice tonight and then it's SHOWTIME!!

My 1st Prom

Oh, by the way... did I happen to mention I attended my first prom this year? Yep, that's right! At the youthful age of 32 I was asked out to prom.... or volunteered may be a better word.

You see, Megan's cousin Brandy needed a date for the prom since hers dropped out last minute. So I was able to turn back on my high school moves to be the coolest of the cools on the big night.

No really, I actually wasn't that bad! My biggest fear was that I would be a dud for the party and totally ruin Brandy's night. Buty as it turned out, I had a lot of fun and knew most of the songs that were played. (which were mostly all 80's and 90's music... wierd) But I also had a great time as well.

Here's the lone picture from that night. I just got them last weekend and wanted to share it with everyone else. (yes my hair was done up to look like a member of some punk band)

Incredible!

I never thought I'd say this, but it looks like our 2009 Breakfast Champion has turned out to be the underdog (or should I say underbird) Sonny the Co-Co bird!

The dominate Tony the Tiger was no match for this little lucky bird who once again pulled off an upset in the lowest voting outcome yet!

Congrats to everyone who voted. Here is your winner and here he shall be.... until next years tournament!!

Honestly, as cereals go, this one isn't too bad. I never requested it from my mom but then again, I never would mind when she bought it.

Ok folks, see you next week!

Unbelievable!

Looks like Sonny was able to pull off another upset against the Count of Co-Co! And once again it was the lowest voter turnout as well. How does he do it?!

Well folks, we will see you next week for the championship fight! Have a great 4th!
