Where did that phrase come from? More bang for your buck

 
Back in 1953, President Eisenhower called for an increase in America's military but wanted to decrease its spending in the same process.

The only way to do that was through less servicemen and more atomic bombs.

The phrase was a play on a Pepsi ad at the time that said "More Bounce for the Once!"
