Today I thought I'd show you more pics from my Chase trip to Columbus!
 I was there for 2 1/2 weeks.
Not much to do but walk around.
 And sit.
Like I said, the weather was nice, but I can only imagine the nightmare it must be come winter!
 Candy store.
Here's a Burger I ate at the FlipSide. Supposedly this burger was featured on Food Network, but I don't know where. It was ok.
This one I can't remember where I got but it was gOooOOood! Look at that cheese! Beautiful!
T
The area was nice but I'll show you other places I went to tomorrow. Chow!

Columbus Ohio Trip (1)

Another place Chase sent me to last month was Columbus, Oh. There was a whole lot and see and do while I was there too!

This is from a place called Thurmans. The burger was HUGE and quite possibly the best I've ever had!
Parking lots come with lights over the space indicating it the spot is filled or empty. These are all red indicating filled. Outside they have a sign that tells you how many parking spaces are available in the garage.

Wow!
The shopping center I was next to was nice as well.
Had that old home town feel to it.
And lots of fancy restaurants that make your food look like this!
 Comfy places to sit everywhere.
 Even the inside looked beautiful.
That theater was amazing. I saw Terminator Genysis there. (which was not amazing)
 Huge chandeliers!
Ok, I'll post more pics next week of my trips. Have a good one folks!

My trip to Albany

Last month Chase flew me out to Albany, NY for training. Look what I found in their mall. Wild. I can only imagine how cold it must get in the winter there!
They also had this store in the mall that was kind of it's own supermarket.
Even though the outside was X-mas themed the inside had nothing about the holidays in it.
Never seen a place like that before but it was interesting!

My first time to be in New York and what an experience it was! The people were surprisingly nice. I even walked a mile after dark back to my hotel one night and felt completely safe! Even took a short cut thru a dark alley like Batman's parents and wasn't even shot!

I have to admit, it was one of the best places Chase has sent me this year. The board game store they had was the best one I got to see this year and the weather was beautiful!

More about my other travels coming soon...

Remember Tooth Chest?!

Remember these sweet puppies? I had one when I was a kid and loved keeping my teeth in them.

What about you? Did you have one as well? Do you still have it? I don't.

Didn't have the Tooth Fairy in my life growing up either.

Sucked. I really could've used that $2.50 about now.

September Movie Preview

Let's get a jump start on this for a change shall we?

 Black Mass

I still don't know much about this movie but I'm intrigued. Didn't even recognize it was Johnny Deep the first time I saw the trailer. Needless to say, his make-up is amazing in this film. Meh, maybe I'll save it for rental though.
 Hotel Transylvania 2

Yikes. Megan's going to make me go to this one, but I am NOT looking forward to it.
Transporter Refueled

I loved the originals a lot but this one I'm not too sure about. Maybe for Redbox but not worth a ticket to the box office I think.

What about you? Any movies you're looking forward to next month?

Do tell...

Where did that phrase come from? Square Meal

Giving it away again with the picture above but the Royal Navy used to serve the seamen meals on square wooden plates. They made sure they had all the "essentials" any serviceman would need.

Yep, it's that simple.

Have a good weekend folks!

Where did that phrase come from? Pull the wool over your eyes

Now here's one that doesn't sound as crazy when you think about it.

Back in the early days of America, men wore wigs of wool. If someone was trying to fool the other, they were essentially "pulling the wool wig" over their eyes so the one being duped wouldn't see it coming.

And now you know!

Where did that phrase come from? Paint the Town Red

In 1837 the rebellious and wild Marquis of Waterford rioted the town with his friends in the Leicestershire town of Melton Mowbray, painting toll bars and buildings red.

And so from that moment on,a "ruckus good time" became known as such.

And now you know!

Where did that phrase come from? On Cloud 9

Ever been on it? I have.

But in the 1950's the Weather Bureau actually classified this fluffy cloud a "Type 9 Cloud"

And since it's the ideal cloud in everyone's imagination people associated good times by floating on top on it.

And now you know!

Where did that phrase come from? Jumping on the bandwagon

We see sports fans doing it all the time, but where did we get the saying?

It comes from politics believe it or not.

In the 1890's politicians created "bandwagons" to promote themselves at nomination rallies. Supporters of the candidate would get on the bandwagon if they supported them for election.

But when an obvious winner started becoming clear, hundreds of people would flock to that bandwagon to join in their support. In fact, it was Teddy Roosevelt in 1899 who when taking the lead for the presidential nomination for his party exclaim "When I once became sure of the majority, they tumbled over each other to get aboard the bandwagon"

And so the saying began.

And now you know!

Where did that phrase come from? Fly off the handle

I'm giving this one away by the picture above.

Yep! The phrase comes from how dangerous and wild things can get when the axe head breaks off the handle.

Hence, "flying off the handle" got its meaning.

Have a good weekend folks, more coming next week!

Where did that phrase come from? Filthy Rich

We all want to be it, but where did the phrase come from?

Go back to the Great Depression, when money was tight and folks were forced to sell their homes to make ends meet. Along came the rich, the stingy with their cash rich.

See they knew they could get a good deal on houses back then so they offered pennies on the dollar for houses they knew were worth twice the amount. But because of the hard economic times, people had no other choice but to sell their property for a loss.

It was considered so rotten or "filthy" a thing to do that the phrase was then coined.

Where did that phrase come from? 15 Minutes of Fame

Believe it or not, this came from a quote from Andy Warhol back in 1968 when he said "In the future, everyone will be world famous for 15 minutes"

No one really knew what it meant but in the day and age of the internet, his predication has proved to be true.

And now you know!

Where did that phrase come from? Letting the cat out of the bag

We're all familiar with this phrase but where did it come from?

Back in the olden days, people would sell piglets in a bag. But some dishonest merchants would try to deceive its buyers by putting a cat in the bag instead of a pig. However, if the cat was discovered the jig was up and "the cat was out of the bag"

And now you know!

Where did that phrase come from? Spilling the beans

Back during Ancient Greece, they used beans to signify votes. White beans meant "Yes" and black beans "No". The votes had to be unanimous for the motion to go through. However, it the one gathering the votes spilled the jar and a black bean was discovered, voting came to a halt.

The vote collector let the verdict slip before everyone had a chance to vote and all because he "spilled the beans"

Where did that phrase come from? Crocodile Tears

Many years ago there was a myth that whenever a crocodile at a human it shed tears, though it wasn't sorry one bit.

Hence the phrase was coined and lives on to this day.

Have a great weekend folks! I'll be back with more next week!

Where did that phrase come from? More bang for your buck

Back in 1953, President Eisenhower called for an increase in America's military but wanted to decrease its spending in the same process.

The only way to do that was through less servicemen and more atomic bombs.

The phrase was a play on a Pepsi ad at the time that said "More Bounce for the Once!"

And now you know!

Where did that phrase come from? A rock and a hard place

Back during the Great Depression in the early 20's, work was hard to come by and those hiring at the time weren't paying much. So when Minors complained about low pay for tough long hours and dangerous conditions, the owners threatened to fire them and hire others in their place.

After all, workers weren't hard to find in that day and time.

So for the minors it was back to the mines "rock" or unemployment "hard place" and though neither choice was appealing they were stuck in the middle to make a decision.

They were in between a rock and a hard place.

And now you know!

Where did that phrase come from? Arm and a Leg

The phrase came around in 1949 when after the war, soldiers lost so many limbs that "war" cost them an arm and a leg. Meaning, way too much for what its worth.

The phrase caught on when referring to something that the price was too high on!

And now you know!

Dem Dukes!

Short clip of old friends catching up on good times together...and Megan geeking out about it.

Duke Fest 2015

So we went to Duke Fest again last month in Livingston, LA and took a few pics.
Megan had fun posing with replica General Lee's that day, even though it was raining.
She met her "Plan B" John Schnieder who was nice as always to everyone he met.
She even got to meet Coy Duke. Took a picture and got an autograph from him! Wanna know a secret? She hates the Duke cousins. I asked her if this meant she had forgiven him.

She said "No, but he was nice."

And the feud continues.

It was great to see him there though. It's true he gets a lot of hate for playing Coy but to be honest, it wasn't his fault. He was just a fan doing a job and I appreciated him being there.
But the Dukes weren't the only attraction there we went to see. Barbara Eden from "I Dream of Jeanie" was there and was a very sweet woman. I was happy to have the chance to meet her as well.

Though it rained half the time we were there, we both had a great time. We tried to get some Rebel flag memorabilia but the only vendor who was selling them, sold out in under 30 minutes.

Good stuff is hard to find!
