Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego
I may not hit many memory chords with this one, but it was one of my most favorite games as a kid!
There wasn't much to it, but knowing you're facts about different countries. If you read that encyclopedia of a book they gave for clues you'd be pretty good. If not it was guess, guess guess and hope you got it right.
For those of you who DID play the game. Remember the thrill of catching her henchman and slowly... slowly.. tracking her down as well? You felt like a super sleuth yourself didn't you?
I did.

Battle Chess
Words cannot begin to describe how awesome this game was. Back in the days of Floppy Disk comes BATTLE CHESS. Where your pieces "came to life" when moved and battled even after you both knew who had taken who.
But did anyone ever beat the computer? I never could and I had it on BEGINNER! But of course I was a lot younger back then so maybe I'm making too much of a big deal out of it..... however I am still curious.

DOOM
Talk about a game that'll send you back! I can remember almost EVERYTHING about this game! The levels, the creatures, the codes and the weapons. This game was incredible!!
And who remember's playing it online? Blocking up your parents phone lines to play each other... from several blocks away!!! Didn't it blow your mind back then that you were playing with the neighborhood kid down the street and was nowhere near his house?!
You typed messages to your friends over the computer, then when someone picked up the phone line your game froze and you were disconnected. You'd call each other and laugh about what all had happened then get back on again.
What an incredible game! I played it just recently online... too totally awesome to describe!!
And do some of you remember the secret Wolfenstein level that was on it? I freaked out with excitement when I first discovered it.
They don't make'em like they used to that's for sure!

Wolfenstein!!
What about THIS game folks?? Bring back any memories for ya?
I remember us constantly playing this game over and over (after beating it for the first time) It NEVER got old! After finding it online for free, I gave it a shot and got lost in the level. Guess you need to make out your own map like the old-school Zelda game. (or were we the only ones who did that?)
The ending I remember was SO scary, with that enormous guy popping out behind the sliding walls with 2 machine guns in his hands!! Great game!

Ye Old Computer games
Remember back when computer games were AWESOME!!! King's Quest and Space Quest were games we'd play for hours with my Dad on our computer back in the day. The game where you had to figure out the correct way to navigate thru the course by knowing exactly what to do and what to say.
Check out the images below.
You had to type what you wanted to do and hope it was the right thing. You also had to constantly save ALL progress you had no matter how small, because if you went a long way and then died, well you had to start over from your last save.
I remember learning that lesson several times playing with Dad.
Let me see if I can come up with a few more fun computer games from way back....

Auburn Day, Part Three: Cam Newton
Will he stay? No
Should he stay? Yes
Cam is incredible, there's no doubt about that, but he's far from perfect either. He would go first round in the draft but not as a QB. It's too bad the media made a huge fiasco out of his investigation or I truly believe you would have seen him stay another year at Auburn.
He has to work on his ball control. I think one more year with Auburn would help him out TREMENDOUSLY long term. But the way college football has treated him this year I guess I wouldn't want to stay either.
If Chizic talked him into staying I'd be shocked. I don't see him staying at Auburn. He'll go, get drafted and leave all this mess behind him.
Both he and Fairley have till the end of the week to declare themselves going pro. I think we'll hear from them no later than tomorrow.
Auburn Day, Part Two: Nick Fairley
Will he stay? No
Should he stay? As much as it kills me to admit, no.
Nick is good, really good and the NFL knows it as well. In fact, rumor has it now that Mr Fancy Pants at Stanford has decided to stay another year, Nick will be the #1 pick in the draft.
And when you number one you make a ton!
There's nothing more for Fairley to do on the college level. He's dominated the game, proved no one could stop him and to stay another year would just be a waste of his time.
Don't get me wrong, I WANT this guy back. But his chances of staying are slim. If Chizic talks him into staying another year.... it must be blackmail.
I can't see a valid reason for him to stay.
Auburn Day, Part One: Chizic
Today I'm officially announcing "Auburn Day"
I have 3 post to churn out through the day so stay tuned for the others forthcoming.
First I'd like to tackle the subject of "Mean" Gene and how I look at him today as the Head Coach of Auburn.
He's awful.
I'm not talking about his losing record before coming to Auburn, or his inability to control his team in last year's bowl game against Northwestern. But this year he went out, got lucky with the help of not only Cam but Nick Fairley as well and won a championship.
Some of our games this season should never have been that close. Once Gus Malzahn leaves us where will Gene be?
A mid-card team at best.
The only thing that'll change my mind is if he can get both Fairley and Newton to stay. Can that happen?
Wait till my next post...

What the Duck?!
So now it's time to hear all the boo-hoo's and sour grapes from around the nation.
The Ducks aren't happy. I guess I can't blame them. For a team who boasted the #1 offense in the nation, they sucked last night.
I find it funny that the world still hates Auburn, not just for Cam Newton (who still hasn't been found to do anything wrong) but for the SEC in general.
This morning I read Duck fans FURIOUS they'd lost:
"100 times you play that game, Oregon wins, hands down."
"The best team didn't win that day."
"TCU should be #1"
Yes, I actually found that quote. What morons. It's one thing to say your team didn't play it's best that game, but to blame it on bad field conditions, a bad day or bad officiating (when one ESPN actually SAID after his Ducks lost!) it all comes down to this... You lost.
Let's laugh, I mean look at a few things Oregon did.
1) The Trick plays.
I love how everyone holds Chip Kelly in such high esteem. Voted coach of the year this guy showed us exactly how you should wait 30+ days of preparation. ESPN could not stop commenting on how they loved his "fake punt" and "2-point conversion" plays but what about all the other "trick" plays that constantly blew up in Oregon's face and had us all laughing rather than gasping in awe of Chip's presence.
That pony show may work if your Boise State but come on man! You're in the PAC-10! Have some... oh, um... PAC-10, right. Nevermind.
2) Oregon's costumes
Look at these jokers in their neon green costumes. They called them uniforms but they looked more like Tron trying to make another sequel than anything else. The Ducks thought (and I'm not making this up) that it would serve as a good distractor to Auburn. Looks more like it backfired on the Ducks.
But for Halloween I would SO wear those things! What's scarier than a football team who quarterback thinks his offense will run all over them? Plus, it gives off a good reflection to ongoing cars, so there.
3) You were a PAC-10 team
A few articles I read actually started making sense. There should be no question that the SEC IS college football. I don't know why folks refuse to accept the truth. You don't have to like us, just accept it and move on.
The ACC dominates college basketball, it's true. I accept that. I don't hate the ACC teams because of it.
The SEC has ONE good basketball team in Kentucky. That's it. Yeah you have Vandy, Bama and Florida hum around the picture but for the most part it's Kentucky every year.
At least we have ONE good team right? And hey, the ACC has ONE good football team, it's.... uh... it's.... hmmm... oh what's their names.... umm.... ok I'll come back to this later.
All I want to say is: Oregon, go home. TCU, we'll see you in the BCS Championship in a few years and for all you haters out there, WAR EAGLE!

Iphone4
I'm sure Megan's told all of her Facebook friends by now but she got the Iphone4 yesterday.
It made me think about how far we've come along. A phone isn't a phone anymore. It's a camera, computer, GPS system, alarm clock, watch, calculator, and video game console all in one!
And with her Chase account she can take pictures of checks and deposit them into her account WITHOUT EVEN VISITING A BANK!!
Incredible. What does mine do? Make calls and receive text messages.
What would I like mine to do? Make calls and receive text messages.
I'm a pretty simple man when it comes to phones.
Remember when the cellular phones came out? In the movies it was always the rich guy with it.
Or what about the car phone?! Remember those? I thought you were rich if your parents had one in their car. Big ole bag you had to carry around with you all the time.
How bout the cordless phone? I still remember my mom calling someone from OUTSIDE our house and making a big deal about it over the phone. I also remember calling my neighbor and walking down the street to see how far I could go before all he heard was just static!
Ahhh.... those were the days....
