But you're right, success is cyclical and once NO gets bad (or even mediocre) again, these same jersey-wearing people (not the diehards like your wife or Mrs. White but the bandwagon-jumpers) will be supporting someone else, or no one at all.
Secondly, you are majorly confusing ESPN analysts with "fans". How long have you been watching the NFL again? Oh, you don't like the NFL? That's right. ESPN has ALWAYS talked up Manning. Why? Because he's possibly the best quarterback to ever play the game. This is nothing new. He's earned his press. But I don't think they slighted Brees at all. What ESPN were you watching? From everyone I saw, most did pick the Colts to win, but they all said it would be high-scoring, because of the skill of Drew Brees and that offense. Brees was given a lot of credit before the Super Bowl, and will continue to get a lot of credit, and rightly so. No double standard or change there.
