FFF of course

Alright so get this. I just found out last week that the month of March is also known as Women's History Month! So in honor of the ladies I would like to talk about Mildred and Patty Hill.

Both were teachers who combimed there musical talents to come up with a song for kids to sing. It was titled "Good Morning to All"

They published a songbook back in 1893 that included this song. Years later a man by the name of Robert Coleman published the song again without the sisters permission, he even added an extra verse to the song!! (I'm going somewhere with this)

Mr Coleman's verse became so popular that people stopped singing the first verse and just sang the second which began "Happy Birthday to You"

So in 1916 the sisters sued for copyrights on the song... and won. Therefore owning legal right to the song. The family to this day actually is entitled to royalties whenever it's played in a movie TV show or commercial. Isn't that wild?!

Of things to come...

Pretty soon folks, I'll be posting some pre-production photos of the play I'm in. It's the only thing I ever do at nihgts now is study and rehearse for the play.

The weeked went well. I basically caught up on sleep every night. Saturday night in fact I think this party animal went to bed around 9:30. (I'm crazy, I know) But Tony will attest that we were in practice for a full 4 hours that afternoon and none of us wanted to do much after that!

Should be another great comic this week. This time it's about Mom and us when we were kids. I've gotten a number of request over the past few months about making another "For Mom", so you get your wish come Tuesday. You're welcome.

C-ya!

March Madness

It's March right? So let's talk a little about what went on in history during this month.

Well to kick things off in 44 B.C. Julius Ceasar was assassinated. In March of 1794 the US Navy was created. And in 1827 March 26th Beethoven died. Also in 1876 the very first phone call was made. And in 1895 the first ever movie was shown.

Pretty cool FFF's huh?

Speaking of movies, who's going to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this weekend? Ooo! Ooo! ME! ME!

Baseball Practice

As you know, baseball is my favorite sport! And since this season is about to kick off, I thought this weeks comic should be about the good ole day when Jeremy and I used to attend tryouts at the park. Enjoy!

I'm here!

Sorry for the late post folks. I just got a lsow start on the morning and didn't have time to make a post till now.... lunch time.

Hope everyone had a fantastic St Patty's Day. I know I sure did. Even had fun at practice too. For those who haven't heard yet they've actually gone ahead and given me a role in the play. D'Arque, I believe is his name. He's the evil old man who runs the local looney bin, who Gaston gets to throw Maurice away in. Should be fun because hey! I'm old, I'm creepy! I CAN DO IT!!

Ok, I'm going back to work.

St Succat

Well everyone knows what day it is tomorrow. So in honor of St Patrick's Day let me tell you a little bit about the man and the myth.

The myth is this guy came into Ireland ridding the nation of snakes and even going toe to toe with a dragon by a lake. Hmmmm.... I think not.

In short, St Patrick was born around the 4th century in jolly ole England. At the tender age of 16 he was captured by Irish raiders and forced into slavery. Upon his escape 6 years later St Patrick decided to return back to Ireland as a missionary.

He became a hero to the Irish people and every year they pay him homage by giving him a day of celebration. Which we americans turned into what is now known as the "green beer" day. So, if it's corned beef and cabbage for you tonight, raise a glass to St Patrick while you're at it as well.

Side note: This holiday falls as my all-time 3rd favorite of the year.
HAPPY ST PATTY'S DAY EVERYONE!!

Five O'Clock Fridays

Here I am after work kickin' it at O'Charlie's for "Five o'clock Friday's" A little tradition that was started by our IT department and has slowly caught on as an emplyee-wide event. It's pretty fun. I always enjoy it.

Thanks for the e-mails of concern for my sickness but I'm doing much better now (I think) andcan function like a normal human being. My secret? Vitamin C and lots of water. (and they say only milk does a body good!)

Ok, I'm off!

Star Wars Topic

Hi folks!

Well I told you we'd have a bonus post this Saturday and here it is! But today the topic is going to be a little serious.

Star Wars.

For those of you who don't know, I'm a huge fan of the movies, books everything. I usually don't speak of this much for obvious reasons. But I can't stand it! I gotta speak about it today!

So, in reguards to Cal's comment on Hayden, I have to say that I don't think his acting was bad at all. I blame it all on the directing of George Lucas. For as much as I like Star Wars I can't stand the man who created it! Wild huh?

He's stated several times in interviews that he cares nothing for the fans and he shows that to us every day! His director skills are the same as of a 6 year old. He gives his actors NO direction when following a scene. The best example is in Ewan McGregor. Wonderful actor but you'd never be able to tell that if he had just starred in those films.

Don't get me wrong. I love the prequels. But I agree they would have been a lot better without GL's invovlment with them. So there you have it. I'm done. Hope your weekend's better than mine!

As you may or may not know I'm left handed. But did you know that only about 4% of america is left-handed?

That's why you find most things like scissors to can openers that are always made for right handed people. Two popular left handers are Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci as well!

Now, even though the FFF is kinda weak today, forgive me. I'm sick. I stayed up most the night coughing and I'm not feeling that much better now.

But guess what folks? My "Moday Morning Me" post (the MMM so to speak) will also come with a new picture of me! I don't know why that's been the topic of so many e-mails lately but who am I to dissappoint?

So maybe it'll bring a little pity on me and someone will be kind enough to come over and feed me some chicken soup.... while watching Star Wars with me... all 6 Episodes.... back to back... on the IMATT...

Greatest show on the face of the earth?

This weekend I took my nephews to the circus. It was my first time to go to one and I have to say I was impressed. Dancing bears, daring feats and non-stop entertainment all night long. Why there one this one magic trick that still has me scratching my head as to how they pulled it off! It was well worth my time I can tell you that.

But I'm ready to start a brand new week. How bout you?!

FFF time!

Time to talk about sad thing... crying.

We all know why we cry but what about "how" we cry?

When we become upset or depressed or over-whelmed with emothion our brain and body overreacts by producing extra chemicals and hormones. To release these unessessary chemicals from our body, we cry.

That's why a lot of people (like my good friend blondie) feels better after what she calls a "good cry". Because the tears are extracting these chemicals. So people feel refreshed or calmer after crying because your washing away all those hormones.

The chemicals and hormones disappear from our body through the form of tears. As our tears flow, they sooth our sadness or distress by withdrawing these chemical agents.

There you go! Next time you see someone crying just tell them that fun fact and they'll punch you right in the face. THE FACE!!!

C-ya folks!
