About 8 years ago, the last full service gas station we had switched to self service, marking an end to a tradition that was already gone way before that time.
I remember being in college and every so often coming across a place which had someone pump the gas for you. I thought it was strange even then. The gas was a little more expensive at these places to cover the cost for the attendant.
When I used to travel for work and came home, Chase used to pay for my gas. But the machines always asked for my zip code and since the business card didn't share my zip code, I never could remember it. So instead I'd drive up to the full service gas station and have them run it for me instead.
This isn't something I miss all that much like other things from my past. But I'm glad I at least have a few memories as to what it was like when people had full service at their gas stations.
