Martians!!!

Ok, so this has nothing to do with your boardgames, but I need to make a Survivor comment.

First off, the last 3 weeks have been AWESOME. Yes, the Heroes have won and evened it up, but all thanks to the Villains getting rid of their strongest players (dumb). Anyway, I have a major complaint. And it tarnishes one of your favorites (so I'm sorry): Russell.

I think that Russell has played great. He's picking the people off that are threats to him, and has beaten Boston Rob. He received a hidden immunity idol FOR NOTHING! But the problem is, this is the closest that we have seen (that we know about) to Survivor being rigged. Think about this - the current season was filming WHILE LAST SEASON WAS AIRING. What that means is that NONE of the heroes/villains got to see Russell play!! Have you already mentioned this? Because it really is starting to impact this season. NO WAY if they had seen last season air would Russell still be there, and NO WAY would the Heroes have given him the idol. Now, granted it was a stupid move on the Heroes part, but it has been patently unfair. He is the only player out there who does not have a "past" and it seems to me to be an unfair advantage. Thoughts?

First off, never comment on Survivor until after Friday. (Friday night is when I see it) But my wife pre-warned me about your post so I didn't read it until now.

Russell has the same advantage Rupert had in All-Stars. Though Rupert had it easier.

Everyone knows Russell did something bad to be counted as a Villain. So Russell started off a marked man. But they also know how Parvati loves he "girl power" so that plays a huge advantage to Russell.

Overall, he's doing a great job and by far is the strongest player ever to play Survivor.

Sorry about that, I had no clue you would watch it that long after it aired.

Strongest player ever...and by far? Naaah, the jury is still out - that is waaay too strong a statement at this point. The other players don't know he "did something bad", he could just be a complete jerk to be a villain. And even if they "know" that, they have no idea what he did or didn't do, so when it comes to his game play, and the hidden immunity idols, everyone is clueless. Which is where his advantage is starting to manifest itself...and it's a HUGE one. Rupert may have had the same advantage, but he's such a straightforward player that it didn't make any difference whatsoever that no one saw him play. This is a completely different scenario.

Also, how did he start off a "marked man"? I submit that if they had seen his season, he would have been one of the first to go. Rob was much more "marked" than he, and look what happened. I'm not saying he hasn't played great - the Tyson move was excellent, as was convincing Jerri to get out Rob. But once those guys were gone, Coach was just a fish in a barrel. All in all, yes, Russell is killing it for a 2nd season, but we'll have to wait and see what happens to pass final judgement. With his built-in advantage, I think he's a little overrated at this point. If he makes final 2 or 3, then we can talk. I do think it's interesting that Survivor is playing up the whole "dumb move" angle with JT, but hardly anyone realizes that all of this was filming while Russell's season was airing.
