Many Saints of Newark (Review)

 I liked the Sopranos when it came out. I was a little hesitant when I heard about this prequel movie but decided to give it a shot anyway. 

It's good! Not great, but if you're a Sopranos fan I think you're really going to enjoy this. It doesn't explain that much about the show but then again, it never had to. It follows a young Tony Soprano and gives us a peak at how he takes a few steps into the the person we see in the show. 

The movie holds your interest the whole way through and was really enjoyable to watch. I recommend it if you loved the series as well. 

Gov Coward strikes again!

 Boza Bel Edwards thinks he can run this state into the ground like they are in California. 

At this point I think everyone is just waiting for the next election to bring in someone who cares about our state enough to make some changes. 

Why we haven't started a petition to vote him out of office now is incomprehensible.

 Whoops! CDC reporting only 1 in every 5 cases of the virus are found within NON-VACCINATED people. Further proving that natural immunity trumps a mandated vaccine. 

I love how the media is desperately trying to bury this story.

Bang Strawberry Blast (review)

 At long last I got to try this flavor. Exclusive (at least for a time) to military bases it's obviously available to the public now.

I was shocked because I wasn't even looking for it when I entered the gas station to get Megan a drink, but the moment I looked at the colors I knew what it was before I even read the title. I snatched the can up in unbelief and broke my rule of "one a day" and "never after 4pm" when I found it. (it was 6pm and I didn't go to sleep until 2am but it was worth it)

So how does it fair against the other two strawberry flavors? Well, it's better than Frose Rose, but not as good as Strawberry Kiss Delish. (which I think is the best) This one has a sweet taste more like strawberry candy than plain strawberry. People may like this better because of it but for me, I enoyed Delish better. 

Old (movie review)

 This movie should've been great. It has an interesting premise where these people are trapped on a beach that ages you a year in under 30 minutes. 

But it falls flat on so many levels. To begin with, the characters aren't as memorable, believable or that relatable, so we really never care about most of their demises. And the ending? Ugh. 

I'm a fan of most M Night's movies but this one....falls completely short of mark. 

8 Bit Christmas

 Didn't think this was going to be that good but it was recommended by a friend of mine and I decided to watch it tonight. 

Surprisingly he was right! It's a pretty solid movie. 

The story is about a kid in 1988 who does whatever it takes to get a Nintendo for the holidays. 

It's got a great ending that you don't see coming. 

The movie has a lot of laugh out loud parts, my favorite is when a Nintendo starts speaking to the kid and he reacts to it like a person in a trance. 

I was there in the 80's.

Really good stuff. Well worth a holiday watch!

Wheel of Time (review)

 6 episodes in and I'm officially out now. 

This show has virtually nothing to do with the books but share the names of people, places and things. It's a horrible representation of the novels and no self-respecting fan of the series should even acknowledge this atrocity. 

Complete and utter garbage.

 Zombies!!!

Yep. To wrap things up it has to be the game that brought me into the hobby in the first place. Roll, move, fool fight, play cards. That's it. But I love it. 

Outside of Strat-o-matic Baseball, I doubt any game has been on my table more than this one. Mainly because that's all we ever played for a couple of year but at the same time, it was all I ever needed. 

This game keeps SO many good memories with my former game groups that it will always be special to me. 

There's a new expansion coming out that I can't wait to try since my girls will be featured on one of the cards. Really looking forward to it.

Alphabet Board Games: Y

 

Yedo

For some people, I'm sure the letter "Y" would be hard to choose a game from. But that's only if those poor gamers don't own Yedo. 

I have the kickstarter edition so I traded off my regular version and just play with this. It's incredible to look at. Though I didn't get it to the table as much as I did the year prior, I still love this game and the extra modules that the new version comes with. 

Having the opportunity to collect workers with special powers is an awesome idea. The only thing I wish they wouldn't have changed was on their "Kill the Shogon" card. Now instead of instantly winning the game, you just earn mega points. 

Though it's so hard, winning the game would've been more fair. And though no one's ever pulled it off in any of the games I've been a part of. I'm interested in trying one of these days.

 X-Men: Under Siege

The only vintage board game to make my list. Though this will be for the last time. Next year I'll have X-men United added to my collection, of which, I think will be awesome enough to take the title from this classic game. 

Though this game boasts some amazing figures to play with, I've grown over the years to appreciate it more which is why it continues to climb up my vintage list year after year. 

I really wish I could paint these but I suck at that sort of thing. But looking at them, these figures was meant to be in color. I'm sad my inexperience is not letting them reach their full potential. 

Alphabet Board Games: W

 Wingspan

I was just praising this company yesterday and once again here I am congratulating them on another hit game. 

This has a great theme, wonderful artwork, is educational and each expansion adds flavor to an already strong game. 

I have deluxified this game to the max, with stuff from the BGG Store to Top Shelf Gamer. It's true I was cool on the game when it came out but that was mainly due to some shifty business with the publisher going on at the time. 

But that's in the past now and this game IS part of my future. 

Alphabet Board Games: V

 Viticulture

Yet another fantastic game that never gets old for me. Worker placement perhaps at its best. There are so many ways to win it's ridiculous. I recently won the game without fulfilling a single wine order. (but it was close I'll admit)

Stonemier Games never got better in my opinion than they did with this game. It looks and feels beautiful. I'll also never play with the Tuscany expansion as well as the other cards expansions too because they add so much to game. 

I even have the expansions dealing with Olive Oil, Apples, cattle and cheese which I'll integrate into the game from time to time. This game is solid. 

House update!

 One bidder who lost just put in a back up bid in case my first buyer fell through....for 9k more than the first offer!!

INSANE.

Alphabet Board Games: U

 Urbania

I think this is the ONLY "U" game in my collection but I'm not embarrassed because it's an excellent game. 

It's Ticket to Ride but with WAY more options to win as you're re-developing the city into something lovely once again. 

The turns move quick and the scores can really ramp up towards the end but it's one of Mayfair's best games they ever put out. I got the mini-expansions to them last year and have played with them. Mainly just a couple of wild cards for buildings but they come in handy so I'm keeping them in there from here on out.

SOLD!

 House went up for sale today at 10pm. By 1pm I hate 6 scheduled visits to see the house and 4 for tomorrow. 

By 5pm today the offers started coming in. A total of 7 by 8:30pm. One of them from someone who didn't even look at the house before making an offer. 

All of the offers except for one were ABOVE my asking price. 

And this is Monroe, La. 

Wow. I knew the market was crazy but I didn't think it was THIS crazy. 

Now to cross my fingers and hope for a fast closing. 

Home Sweet Home Alone

 They were smart to include a snippet scene with Buzz from the original movie in into the trailer. 

It got me to watch this heinous piece of garbage in the first place, hoping for more surprise cast members from the first movie....there were none. 

It's a terrible sequel as you'd expect. Don't waste your holiday on it as I did. 

 

Alphabet Board Games: T

 Twilight Imperium

I feel bad for all the other "T" games in my collection. They never stood a chance. Each time I get the chance to play this, it's all I ever want to play. 

With the newest expansion, I don't think I'll ever play 3rd edition again and I hate that but I know deep down it's probably true. I'll have a super hard time letting go of the game though. Still can't see me giving it away yet. 

But this game is all you'll ever need in a board game. So many epic moments have come from this and whenever I announce a game day of it, 6 is the minimum that show. (one time 9 people came and I had to sit out until someone left)

It takes two folding tables to bring out and (for the most part) 4 hours. But it's worth it. 

Every. Single. Time. 

The big hype

 The new mutation is scaring everyone. Fauci is desperately trying to hold on to his power by telling you it's the most deadliest one yet.

But ALL reports of actual cases are saying the same thing. This version is the weakest one yet. It should fall into the category of a regular flu at this point. 

But that won't stop the fear mongering from continuing on.
