Final entry for the year?
Well folks, I hope everyone's X-mas went by fine. We're now counting down the hours to the grand new year and boy do we have some surprises for you then! No pics of me today. I'm actually done with those. (abundance of cheers)
We'll be starting something new with the weekly line-up next week. I'm pretty sure you're all going to enjoy it. I'll give the final details on it Friday.
Have a great week boys and girls!

Shop Smart, shop Salon-Mart!
This lil picture of me was taken back in May to kinda give you the idea of how long my hair was. It actually got down past my chin before I finally had to cut it off. I meant to take a picture of it right before I cut it but forgot. So this is really the closest pic I have of me with it that long. As you can plainly see though.... this picture sucks. I look like I should be a poster boy for some Salon or something. Go ahead and laugh, everyone else did.
That's all for this week folks. Have a Merry X-mas and we'll see you next week!

THE GREATEST SANTA BOWL GAME EVER!!!!
What a game ladies and gentlemen!!!
Before the game I posted saying it didn't look that good for our team. We had only 9 players starting and just 2 hours before kickoff. But 2 hours was all I needed.Bringing in some last minute help I was able to recruit my uncle and convince an injured player to try and tough it out for us a much as he could.
But when we arrived onto the field just minutes before the game 2 other players who had heard about the Santa Bowl last year but weren't able to make it, came! Allowing my injured player to sit out and even have one extra man on the team!! I have to admit it wasn't until 20 minutes before the game that I felt like we had a shot.
The kickoff happened and by the end of the first quarter the score was 0-7. (youth leading) The quartback sneak on the goal line was all they needed to put the first points on the board. And as the 2nd quarter ticked down the score remained the same at the half.
Now as some of you already know. Historically, the youth had always lead or have it tied in the first half. It's the 2nd half where they fall apart...... but not this time.
The youth remained strong and their defense was unstoppable. Thankfully we were able to throw a beautiful pass the MVP Chandler Oswalt to get our first and only TD of the game. Making it 7-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Now this is where it gets interesting....
The 4th quarter started off with adults having the ball. Another handsome pass to Chandler once again put us in the youth's red zone, a stone throw away from scoring another TD. And that's where the ball stayed for the entire game.Down after down, interception after interception was made on both sides of the ball but no one could score! In fact, there were way more interceptions than completions thrown the entire game! But it all came down to this.
50 seconds on the clock and the adults are once again trying to score. But another interception is thrown to Seth Pryor, who doesn't realize he's in the endzone. He makes a break for the field trying to score a TD out of it but doesn't make it out of the endzone before his flag is pulled.... the play is rules a safety (look at NCAA rules posted below)
Now the score with mere seconds left is 9-7, adults. But once again the adults throw one more interception with 6 seconds left. The youth try a Hail Mary play but it isn't enough and the Adults win their 5th straight Santa Bowl Championship once again!!!!
One BIG factor that credited our victory was the youth's refusal to kick the ball away from their endzone. For some reason they just kept going for it on 4th down and therefore shooting themselves in the foot!!
But in the words of everyone who was there to see it "WHAT A GAME!!!"

Old Santa Bowl art
Here's a little old Santa Bowl art from the last two previous years. The first one was drawn by Patrick Trisler and the 2004 flyer was done by Jeremy Wilkins.
The history of the Santa Bowl starts off like this. Back in 1984 Dad created a game in where the pastors would take on the seminary students in a game of flag football. The named it the "Santa Bowl"
I remember going to Jackson with Mom as we shopped for a Santa Cup to use as a trophy. The block of wood on which the cup sits on was picked out of our own backyard from the firewood we kept back then.
I then remember how my brother and I sanded that thing for what seemed like hours just to get it smooth! Then Mom added the finishing touches, painting it and super glueing the cup to it.
The game took place in a different city each year. (inside the state of Miss.) The pastors won them all but the very last one in '87 due to an TD catch that was called out of bounds on the final play. Giving the seminary students their first and only win.
In the year 2000 the trophy was uncovered but not used because it was too late in the season to schedule a game. But in 2001 the Santa Bowl returned!!
Nothing special was made for the first year but the 2nd year Santa Bowl rings were handed out to the champions. These cheaply made rings didn't even last on hour on your finger before the hot glue (I used to put them together) fell apart.
So in year 3 we had t-shirts made. (and so began the concept art) In '04 we had little high school platic footballs made and this year we had cups AND t-shirts once again!
T-shirts may be what we'll be having every year from here on out. I wanted t-shirts for last year but thanks to the $200 loss I made on them in '03 the idea was quickly nixed.
Every year the Santa Bowl is played on the 2nd weekend of Dec at 2pm. Anyone and everyone over the age of 17 is welcome to play. And one day (if I get enough support) I'll even make another Bowl game for any younger kids who want to play. Reguardless of your age, the Santa Bowl and a fun event for everyone!

SANTA BOWL PRE-GAME SHOW
Heh heh, looks like this kid's saying "SANTA'S GOTTA GUN!!! RUUUUUNNN!!!!!!"
Ok folks! Today's the big day. Who will win? Well I have to be honest..... it's not looking good for the home team. The Adults have been the Santa Bowl Champions 4 times straight! But this year we've lost SO many players that I don't see us making it again. The Youth have ALL their big boys in on this one. I'm already playing 2 short and really don't see a chance at winning. So I'm just going to go out there, play my best and look for the worse.
Post game show to follow......

Watch the youth as they fail once again to win the Santa Cup! Update on how the game went down will probably be published next weekend.
