Games I got rid of (116)

This game was hyped up by everyone I knew, so I got it in an enormous trade....and was devastated with the biggest letdown for a modern day board game.

Awful experience. After 4 plays I couldn't handle giving it another shot. It's SO terrible and drab. Luckily it had a high trade value on the market and was gone within the next month.

Regrets: Yuck! No. Good riddance.

Games I got rid of (115)

What a horrible game. It felt like working in salt mines instead of just playing a game about them. How someone designed this without thinking of making a torture device to gamers I'll never know. Happily traded it away at the first opportunity I could.

Regrets: Absolutely not!

Satan Responds To Roe v. Wade Overturn

Games I got rid of (114)

Yahtzee style board game that's really fun but I already have 2 others like it in my collection so I gave it to one of my best friends before he moved away.

Regrets: I hated this game doesn't come with enough 6 sided die. But to help my buddy out, I included several other dice within the game so he doesn't have to pass dice every turn to the next player.

Games I got rid of (113)

Quaint game I enjoyed at first but over time I could see the replay ability factor dropping so I let it go due to that.

Regrets: None. If I had gotten this game earlier it would've stayed a little longer in my collection I think, before eventually being let go.

The double standard

I love how a year ago these very same people saying "My body, my choice" were yelling for mandatory vaccinations for all Americans.

They didn't want anyone to have a choice of what they put in their bodies back then. Only when it involves murdering unborn is when they want that power.

Deplorable.

Free Abortion trips

People are lauding the companies who said they'll pay for your abortion right now if you end up having to travel for it.

Yeah, of course they would.

Much cheaper than putting someone else on your Insurance or paying you maternity leave.

What a joke.

Why?

Why do kids just stand in the doorway when you're trying to get in or just in your way in general? I've never understood this.

I didn't do it when I was a kid and I don't remember my siblings doing it either but my girls? They are the WORST about doing this.

We constantly has mosquitos in the house due to them holding up everyone from getting in because they just want to stop in the door frame.

I just don't get it.

Hunt for the Wilder People (Review)

For the first 30 minutes I thought I had a winner on my hands....but as the rest of the movie DRAGGED I could see the problem.

Someone came up for an excellent short and tried to turn it into a feature film by adding 60 minutes of filler scenes to get them by.

Too bad, because I can recommend you watch the first 30 minutes, then fast forward through the rest to see how it ends.

Too bad. It had a lot of potential that was eventually squandered.

Forgive and forget?

Trying to save his career as Governor, Bel Edwards has made it illegal to order abortion inducing drugs within the state.

A clear move to satisfy the right who he's screwed over for the past 2 years in hopes they'll keep him as Governor next year.

It's not going to work. While this was indeed a good thing, it doesn't make up for how he's economically ruined our state over the past 2 years.

This guy has got to go.

On the other side

Lot's of crying for those people who hate unborn children and want the power to murder them.

Though they can still do it in a lot of states in the US who celebrate death, these wicked dangerous and violent people can rant all they want, we've solidified our stance as a nation who respects and cherishes life.

And that's something we should all take pride in.

A time to rejoice!

Killing babies in America just became I lot more difficult.

Proud to be in this country which still respects the lives of the unborn. And congrats to every state (including mine) which has now made slaughtering unborn children illegal.

It's a good day indeed!

Yes, even the great Stefan Feld isn't immune to my purge. I traded this one away because after a few plays it was becoming too tedious and not fun. It holds excellent trade value and I was able to get a great game in exchange for it so both parties walked away from the trade happy.

Regrets: Nope. Feld isn't a guaranteed hit for me every time so I don't need every single game he's created.

Games I got rid of (111)

Really fun game but I found out I have too many games with the same mechanic as this one so I gave it away to a member of my gaming group. He has his own group now, so it's all for the better.

Regrets: None. I just hope he knows I wasn't just pawning a game off on him, I truly hope he's enjoyed it the past few years.

Games I got rid of (110)

Push your luck game for kids. I got it with the intention of playing it with my girls when they grew up. But sadly, I ended up giving it away before that could happen. The reason? It's just too stupid a game, even for kids. There are way better push-your-luck games that kids can play.

Regrets: Buying it so far in advanced in the first place. Never happen again.

Games I got rid of (109)

Great game. Sort of worker placement/area control in that you were trying to have the most influence in each room to take certain actions to influence the king, to get into the garden at his party and obtain certain favors from his guest. (VP's) Really solid game.

Sadly, I needed it for a trade and had to let it go.

Regrets: Yes. I shouldn't have traded this one away. It was too new in my collection and I thought I wouldn't miss it but I do. If I see it for sale at a convention second hand, I'm picking it up.

Stand by Me (Review)

Never saw this before so I thought I'd try it out.

Non-Horror Stephen King with a strong cast about some boys in 1959 who hear about a dead body and go to look at it before the cops find it.

Weird I know, but it's not that bad. Not his best either but a fun movie all the same. Can't believe it's been this long for me to finally see it. Every time I think about it, I forget the moment I start looking for something to watch.

Not King's best movie, more middle of the road. But worth my time all the same.

Little Debbie Ice Cream Reviews

Good. Not my favorite but good.

Excellent. Tied (if not beating) Oatmeal Cream Pie. Excellent taste and just like a Star Crunch.

These were the last two I was interested in trying. I'm glad I got them but am ready to move back to my classic Pistachio Almond the next time we get ice cream at the store.

TI4 Game 8 rundown

 Short and sweet.

We played with new rules that I'd missed over in my initial read.

In the Agenda phase you refresh all your planets and vote, one at a time, on an agenda card then do it again with whatever planet votes you have left over.

Also, Strategy Card 3 ALWAYS let's you pick Strategy Cards 1st every round which makes the card highly desirable.

So with the revised rules in play I made sure to conquer as many worlds as I could to control the votes. NEVER got Speaker so I didn't have to vote first and could move the vote any way I wanted, and killed it!

The moment the rules were explained to me, the strategy was easy to see.

Love this game. But am happy to shelve it for the time being until my Codex expansions come in later this summer.

Long live the king.

Games I got rid of (108)

Boy I remember being really excited about this game when I first played it, but as the plays kept coming I begin to notice the game didn't have much to offer when it came to strategy.

The last two games I think everyone knew the steps you had to take to win. And it all depended on luck of the roll at that point. When rolling dice is the only way to add a random development to your game, you're game is no different than Monopoly.

Regrets: None. Traded it away for a better game in my collection.

Games I got rid of (107)

I traded for this one because I knew my nephews would love it.

They hated it.

So I traded it off again and out of my collection. Flick'em games aren't my thing but if my nephews would've loved it I would've kept it around. (like I do with Santorini)

Regrets: No way. I sucked at this game too. Glad its gone.

Games I got rid of (106)

If I could use one phrase to best describe this game it would be "the little board game that tried" Nice pieces, interesting theme and some basics mechanics but really missed having a soul to go with it. The game feels drab and linear. Another Christmas giveaway to someone in my game group.

Regrets: None

Games I got rid of (105)

Fun family game that's similar to Memory. Too kiddy for my nephews so I gave it to a family with younger kids who I hope are playing it more than I did.

Regrets: Nope. Plenty of games for my kids to play in my collection when the time arrives.

Games I got rid of (104)

CMON. They make good looking games with terrible gameplay attached to them. Like their plan is always make things look cool enough to trick gamers into thinking the game's good too.

SPOILERS: It typically sucks, which was the case for this game too. Nice 3D board and artwork, horrendous gameplay.

Got it for $2 on clearance once and quickly found out why.

Regrets: None.

Little Debbie Ice Cream review

I tried a few more flavors of the ice cream and wanted to give my thoughts.

Taste just like the snack cake, but the brownie bites are a little too much for me.

Wow. This is good! But oddly enough, it doesn't taste that much like the snack cake. I will say this, the vanilla ice cream in this one is UNBELIEVABLE!

So far, it's my favorite!

Games I got rid of (103)

Man, this was a tough one to let go. I love the "math like" aspect of the game where you had to make choices on which numbers to match up on your board each time. The artwork was neat too. But the trade value was WAY too tempting for me to pass up so I decided the game would never be in my Top 100, so I dumped it.

Regrets: A little but not much. I got over it soon. The game is fun, but when it's not even a Top 100 game for me, I find it easier to let go.

TI4 Game 7 break down

Last night we played our 7th game of the year of TI4.

I didn't think I had a chance, since it started off "them vs me" but right out of the gate the game changed rapidly.

Instead wasting moves trying to take me out, they ran for the points. (smart)

I used a "shield" play, where you follow behind the leader without passing them up too soon. Then as you getting closer to 10, jump him for the win!

It's not the first time I've tried that strategy. They didn't see me as a threat until I hopped into the lead. by then, the game was all over. Not only was I able to complete the 2 point Objective for the round, but I also had the power to steal a VP after the vote AND had a secret mission that could be completed just in case.

Cementing yet another victory for the King of the Imperium.

I will say this though...all the players now have gotten much better at it. And if the objectives and secret missions hadn't gone my way....I know I could've lost to at least 3 of them.

My streak WILL come to an end and I'll happily shake the person's hand when that day comes.....hopefully in a few more years. : )

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (Review)

 Just watched this last night.

Wow.

Excellent.

If you've seen a lot of Cage movies, you'll like it.

If you've seen all his movies....you'll love it.

Excellent film. Highly recommend.

Games I got rid of (102)

I stand by my initial review, I think this game would've won me over if it were Mardi Gras themed. I think it would've sold better too but that's besides the point.

The game was kind of "one note" in that you didn't have that much of a selection to make serious decisions with. Flowers, flags and balloons of 3 different colors. That was it.

I gave it away a few Christmas' ago to someone on my gaming group.

Regrets: Nice theme. Bland gameplay.

Sneak peak at Codex 3!!!!

The TI4 print and plays just got back from the factory and the guy putting this altogether showed some pics for it and they look GREAT!!!

Since it's just him mailing them out I don't expect my copy to arrive here in the US until late July/Early August but I am PUMPED for them already!!!!

Can't wait to get this to the table!

Celebrating God's Promise Month

So happy to see a everyone celebrating the symbol of God's promise to mankind not to flood the world again!

Also a reminder of what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah too. : )

And STILL the Champion of sodas!

Man I haven't had an RC in quite a while until today. SO GOOD.

Not as sweet as Pepsi and not as carbonated as Coke (which I can't drink at all these days)

Just reminded me why I love this soda so much. And I recently discovered its owned by Dr Pepper! So it's still a 3rd party candidate in the soda war, which fits my personality perfectly!

Games I got rid of (101)

Good game but just didn't carry the excitement that so many other games have of this caliber. So with it's trade value high, I got rid of it for another game.

Regrets: None really. I know one person in my gaming group loved to play, but since they hardly come around as often as they once did, I don't think they even notice it's gone.

Games I got rid of (100)

Welcome to my 100th post of the series.....that may go on thru the summer too.

Today, I wanted to talk about this party game. That I took to one of beach vacations a few years back and after 3 1/2 plays discovered we had gone through all the cards the game had to offer, thereby taking any challenge away from the game.

I threw it away before we left. It wasn't even deserving of my time to take it back home.

Regrets: Maybe. Megan REALLY loved this game and I think they may have come out with a booster pack for it, which if true, would've been a great thing needed for this game.

Last week with the itties!

Words can't explain how much Paternity Leave has meant to me these past 3 months. And now that my final week is coming to a close before I return to work I think about how thankful I am for this time together with my little itty biddies!

I'm ready to return to work and worry what's all changed and how much I'll have to do to get caught up. But it's ALL worth it to be given the chance to be with this pumpkins.

Daddy's had a lifelong happy memory and will cherish it forever!

Games I got rid of (99)

Hilarious theme and wondering looking Hamsters, this game looked to have it all.

And it has one of the worst design flaws I've ever seen in a game. The pieces that are supposed to give your hamster more weight, thereby strengthening his chances of winning....are as light as a feather and make ZERO difference.

I was crushed this game was ruined over that. So I gave it over to my nephews who still thought it was funny to play regardless.

Regrets: Nope!

Games I got rid of (98)

Fun story with this one. So earlier I said I traded away another Queen Game called "Cable Car" by mistake because I thought I still had another game in my possession. That game, was this one.

I'd forgotten I had traded THIS game away earlier, knowing I had Cable Car and that both were very similar yet I only wanted one to stay in my collection.

And now I have neither.

Regrets: None. I want Cable Car more at this point I think.

Game 6 in the bag!

Another game night, another "W" for the King!

This was a social game of misdirection tonight. (it's the only card left I had in my hand of tricks) Pizza, music and off topic conversations lightened the mood and suddenly everyone realized I was one point away from winning, sitting on Rex, with Strategy #8 in my hand.

There was nothing they could do in the end, since I had first pick that round. To their credit, while I selected #8 they were all plotting to take me down.....but realized it was too late when they saw what I had in my hand.

The game wet 3 rounds without anyone getting a point, then I played the next 2 rounds playing catch-up, but in round 6 I established a lead and by the end of round 7 sealed the victory.

I love this game. I'm planning 2 more games before I return to work. I'm doubtful I'll stay on top for too long. I know my time is coming where I'll eventually have to give up my crown.

But tonight wasn't that night!

Uncharted (review)

The 3rd movie we watched recently ended up being the best.

I know it's based off a video game I've never played but it runs like a fast paced Indiana Jones movie. Both Holland and Whalberg are excellent in it and definitely made the movie more enjoyable than it should've been.

The action gets a little over the top at the end and comes close to entering "Michael Bay" territory but overall, it's a fun popcorn film that we all enjoyed.

Memory (review)

Another movie we watched was the latest Liam Niesson  flick. Usually he can't go wrong but the last 2 movies he's done (I can't recall the previous one at the moment) both fell flat.

This one was a little better than the last one I saw. It's about an assassin who's suffering from Alzheimer's disease and loses his medicine during his last kill. Like every one of his films it's a revenge flick and has it's moments but at 69 years old, he's feeling his age and his action scenes have cooled down a lot. It's understandable but the films are way slower paced now and just not as good.

I'm not done watching his movies but one more strike and I think I'll stop. His best years seem behind him.

Fantastic Beast and Why do I even Bother? (review)

The first one was bland, the 2nd one I fell asleep watching and the 3rd? Please tell me there's no more after this.

What a waste of time this entire series has been. Do Harry Potter fans even care about this? It's HORRIBLE.

We only decided to watch it because Megan's sister wanted to see it and even then I had a very bad feeling about it. I turned out to be right.

If someone forces you to watch it, get a doggy bag to vomit in. It's that bad.

Fatboy Ice Cream Sammich!

I've seen these in the grocery stores for years and never tried them. The "premium" ice cream sammich. So Megan and I finally decided to give it a try.

Meh.

I was expecting something much better but couldn't taste the difference between this and any other brand.

Sad.

But at least I can scratch it off my grocery bucket list now!

Games I got rid of (97)

Another fun bidding game that's strategic too. Meaning, the explorers you bid on had special abilities which can help you each round and what those abilities are can change from game to game.

The problem? It didn't have enough eat on the bone to stay in my collection. Kinda simple and very dated. Plus the score track set up was really weird which makes me wonder how much effort the designer put into the board.

Regrets: Either way, it's gone from my collection now, so no.

Games I got rid of (96)

I love this show and I loved the game too. But after a while it got to be a little too simple of a bidding game for me, which I could've looked over if not for the fact that it was near impossible to get to the table since no one else in my gaming group knew the show and didn't enjoy playing it as much as me.

Regrets: Not anymore. I stopped watching the show a few years ago and as I said, there are better bidding games out there I'd rather play.

Games I got rid of (95)

I enjoyed this simple game from Haba but soon discovered a lot of resistiveness issues that rubbed me the wrong way, so I traded it....for a game a later traded again. Wild, but true.

Regrets: The game looked beautiful but I could tell after a couple of plays (even with the mini expansion) this was getting old quick.
