Diet time

Yesterday I started my diet. I'm down to 2 dress pants and 1 pair of short left around that I can wear, so it's time to fit back in to my size 36'

I don't mind the diet really. There's a lot of variety I can have and one dish I could (and probably will) eat every day. So now it's just a 4 week waiting game until it's over or I decide to put some bonus weeks into it like I did last time.

Onward!

Games I got rid of (55)

Fun filler game with a unique theme. I got rid of it because it was pretty imbalanced at times. Meaning the Yeti NEVER posed a threat the majority of the time and when it did, only half the players were impacted.

I did love those skiing meeples though!

Regrets: Nope. One less filler game in my collection isn't a bad thing.

Game I got rid of (54)

Enjoyed this game a lot but needed it for a trade and since I had another Queen Game just like it (or so I thought at the time) I let it go.

Only later did I discover my mistake.

Regrets: Yes. If I find it again for cheap I'll most likely pick it up. Trading it was a clerical error on my part. Good game.

Game I got rid of (53)

I traded this game soon after owning it. It's a point system as you connect a trail of tents across the board. Not a bad game and it even had some really nice pieces but it didn't impress after a few plays and I was happy to turn around and trade it soon after getting it.

Regrets: No. Like I said, though the game wasn't bad, it also wasn't for me.

Bang: Raging Raspberry Hibiscus

After weeks of searching I was finally able to find this flavor by the droves in Wal-Mart which just received a shipment.

It taste slightly different from Blue Razz but not enough to make it that unique.

At this point, I'm doubtful they can make any more hits and should instead just stick to the flavors they already got.

Game I got rid of (52)

I adored this game as a kid. When I found it on Ebay it was a no brainer to buy.

Then I found out how awful it truly was.

This was all back in the early days of my collecting when I was grabbing anything from my childhood. I gave this one away too.

Regrets: None. My mom did find pieces of our original game 2 years ago and gave them to me. I think they're still in the pocket of one of my coats.

Dream Home Shelfie (mini-review)

Just another way to score points by being the first to complete a living room. I wish it was for the bedroom though, since the living room already has a promo with Christmas Trees.

Still...not bad. I'll play with it in every game moving forward.

Monasterium Market Stalls (Mini-review)

You can get this at the BGG store and I suggest you do if you have the base game.

Basically, it gives you a way to get resources faster to help you complete more on your player board. It's not over-powered, just something to help you get one or two more monks onto the board which is fine by me, since it's really hard to get more than 12 in a regular game. I'd say with this, you could get 13 or 14 out.

Worth the $5

Weezer "Spring" album (review)

The first of 4 Weezer "seasons" albums came out last week and I had a chance to listen to it.

It's ok. Nothing too memorable though there's one or two songs on the album worth a second listen to. Once again Weezer does their own thing and Rivers writes the songs he wants to sing no matter how they sound.

I'm grateful to be getting 4 CD's from them this year, I just hope they come out with a few hits stronger than this one.

Game I got rid of (51)

2 reasons this game is no longer in my collection:

1) 2 players

2) No interest from anyone to play it.

This one came and went quick on my list because I could never find anyone to play it with me. That, plus being 2 players meant it wasn't destined to stay in my collection for very long.

Regrets: Only that no one else gave it a shot.

Game I got rid of (50)

Cool looking game but it DRAGGED on for way too long so I had to give it away. Some times it took forever for the ghost to capture everybody and that you had to do it for a full 3 rounds was just too much.

Regrets: None.

Jackass Forever (review)

I couldn't help myself. Back in the 2000's everyone was watching them. Now they're close to 50 doing another movie and I just had to check it out.

No good.

Probably laughed twice and cringed more, this movie proves that "3" should've been the last one in theaters. I doubt they'll do anything else after this and that's fine by me. The movie seems stuck in the 2000's with frat boy antics that used to amuse a younger generation but today's kids would watch this and say "Why?"

Pass.

The Adam Project (review)

Finally got around to watching this Netflix movie with Ryan Reynolds....and there's a reason they didn't want a theater wide release of this film.

It's awful.

The story makes no sense and you really don't understand the purpose of it. The consequences of time travel of talked about but don't seem to matter. It's like watching the rough draft of a movie that wasn't completely thought out.

Sadly, I can't go back in time and stop myself from watching it. But maybe I can save others the time.

Oil Change

Years ago I used to do it on my own before deciding to go ahead and pay the $20 to someone else for the trouble.

Now with it costing $50-60 I'm thinking it's time to buy some tire ramps and go back to doing it myself.

Ridiculous.

Blogger banned

After a brief communication I was able to get my blog re-instated.

The issue was that because I post so much, they thought this was a spam blog.

Idiots.

Game I got rid of (49)

Oh man, if my gaming group ever finds out I traded this one away a year ago, they're not going to be happy!

For me, it was a simple game that was so-so. My gaming group loved it more than I did, so when an offer came up to trade... I took it.

Regrets: No. At least not until my game group finds out...and with the amount of games I have, there's a chance they never will.

And the truth starts to come thru...

The CDC is already lowering the number of COVID deaths by almost 100,000. In truth, I bet it's closer to a million but I'm sure that won't be revealed until years later when no one can be held accountable.

We'll see.

Updated "to-do" list

Ok...I'm taking off "Writing a novel" because that can't be done with only 20 minutes of free time in one sitting, which is what I'm getting at the moment. Making it impossible to write anything.

A little update however, I'm on track with book reading and actually ahead on getting 160 board games played. At the moment, I'm at 94. So at least that goal look attainable.

Mini Vans not allowed

They're convenient, fuel efficient and decently priced.

But Megan wants an SUV, that gets less miles to the gallon and is more expensive.

Because it's all about the "look"

I don't know why some women HATE the mini-van. I'll never understand it I guess. All I know is, it' probably not the car we'll be getting anytime soon for our family of 6.

Game I got rid of (48)

Fun game when I was a kid. I bought it out of pure nostalgia but soon realized it sucked. I guess when you're a kid and this was the only thing you could play at your grandmother's on a rainy day, you make do with what you have.

Regrets: No. I wish I hadn't have bought it in the first place and retained the untarnished memories I had as a child.

Game I got rid of (47)

I have a lot of filler games in my collection, so I wasn't sad to part ways with this one. It's fun, but easy to get if ever I miss playing it. Which a don't now that my nephews have moved on from playing this one.

Regrets: Nope. My nephews were really the only ones who loved playing it with me, but over time they grew out of it which made up my mind that the game's time was up.

Babies and Vacuums

I don't know why but every time my girls fell sound asleep to the vacuum when it was running.

My new set of twins do the same thing. Wild. Haven't looked at why that is, but it's crazy that it works EVERY TIME.

Bye bye DST!

Glad it's gone. So stupid. Won't miss it. Glad it's never coming back and my children will never know what it was like to be pissed off once a year.

Game I got rid of (46)

Beautiful looking game....that was roll and move essentially.

That wouldn't have been too bad though because the production value was off the charts! If only this game had come with enough trees to play the game!! Even with the hard to find expansion, you'd need DOUBLE the amount of trees not to run out by the end of a game and for that I reason I had no choice but to let it go to the trading block.

Regrets: Got some great games in return. No regrets.

Happy St Patty's Day

I can't even recall the last time I wore green on this holiday now. It's had to have been 4 years at least. (going for 5 today!)

Have a good one folks!

Game I got rid of (45)

Vintage game I picked up because I thought the mechanic of sinking pieces on the board was cool.

This game is not cool.

It's roll and move. More exactly, it's roll and move at the slowest pace possible.

Really terrible gameplay. Gave it away and never looked back.

Regrets: Nope!

Game I got rid of (44)

Always hurts to have a Queen Game leave my collection, but that's what happened here the moment I played Shakespeare. I knew it had a better theme so this one had to go. Game it away to someone in my gaming group to enjoy on his own.

Regrets: A few. This was one of the few games Megan ever played with me. I'd love to have it back in my collection but again, I'd know Shakespeare is the better game, so it wouldn't be played as much, so it's all for the better I suppose.

Game I got rid of (43)

Good game, played it a lot back in the day. But I really needed to add it to a trade for another game I wanted at the time. So it left my collection, possibly a little too soon.

Regrets: Some. This is actually a pretty good game and every once in a while I do miss playing it. It dropped out of my Top 100 so I don't think I'll ever buy it again, but I would play this at a convention in a heartbeat if given the opportunity.

Turning Red (review)

One minute into the film I said out loud "I think I'm going to hate this movie"

Two minutes into the film I was right.

Didn't even want to finish it but Megan insisted.

We spent the last hour of the film on our cell phones while the movie played out.

WASTE. OF. TIME.

To-Do list

While I'm off for a few weeks on paternity leave, here's what I'd like to accomplish:

1) Read more books. Finish the Clone Wars era from Star Wars, all wrestling novels a buddy dropped off for me prior to our new children (total of 8 books) Listen to both seasons of the Audio version of Highlander and read the Invincible Comic.

2) Diet. Drop at least 20 pounds before heading back to work.

3) Write a book. This will be my hardest but my brother's cheering me on and I'd love to do it so I'll give it my best.

4) Play 160 board games. So far, I'm at a good pace with 51 played so far!

5) Watch the following shows: Andy Griffith Show, Mayberry RFD, Farscape. (this is the lowest item on my list since I'm not much for sitting around and watching TV for that long)

Crazy Weather

70 and 80 degrees last week.

Today. Snow.

Amazing how we're still healthy after weather like this.

Game I got rid of (42)

Simple, quick and easy to play. Great filler game you can take with you and play anywhere. It's also at Dollar Tree, so it's cheap to get too.

But I gave it away because I have a million filler games and so this year I sent it to a buddy of mine who moved away for his new gaming group to play.

Regrets: None. Like I said, the game's super cheap to get if I want another copy but with so many filler games already in the collection, I think I'm good.

Game I got rid of (41)

What would I get rid of a Queen Game!?!?

Because I lost a few pieces to it and it was unplayable. I have no idea how that could've happened because it was before the girls came along and no one else opened it between plays. But due to that reason, I had to throw the game away. I got it for cheap anyway, so it didn't hurt too bad.

Regrets: I'd still have it today if it was complete. Fun kids game. But not worth tracking down another copy for.

Zombies!!! Museum of Weird (coming soon!)

Just got the artwork for the girls card in the upcoming game.

Love it.

Looks just like them too  (in a weird creepy way) All the girls can do is stare at it and wonder why they look "scary"

Looking forward to this coming out!

What a Kickstarter

Don't really follow Brandon Sanderson much. Outside of the Wheel of Time books he wrote I haven't read anything else from him.

Recently he surprised fans by letting them know he's written 4 books secretly over the past 2 years.

Not bad.

So he decided to run a Kickstarter so fans could order them,

It's now the biggest Kickstarter ever.

Really encouraging it's coming from "books". Glad to see there's a lot of avid readers out there. But it's crazy it's already raised 25 million and is not even close to finishing. I wonder if he'll even bother signing with a publisher after this. I mean what good would it do? He can make millions on his own?!

Either way, congrats to him!

Bang: Blue and Yellow Lemoncello

Walmart got an exclusive flavor....and it taste like Lemon Morang Pie.

Not my cup of tea. Among my least favorite now. But I had to try it!

I hear there's a few more flavors out but I haven't seen them yet.

Going on a quest to find them today.

Coke: Starlight

Saw this at the grocery store yesterday and picked up a case of minis to try it out.

Megan said it taste like a vanilla scented candle. I agree completely.

I don't know what they were thinking. It starts off sweet then goes tasteless as you swallow.

Weird.

Nice bottle though. If you like the taste of vanilla scented candles....go for it.

Firefly: Carnival (review)

Finally got around to reading the latest novel that came out late last year. New author who I'm unfamiliar with and for some reason didn't put chapters in the book.

That's right. The whole thing read like an endless 229 page chapter. Not fun.

First off, there was never a good place to stop and secondly, it made the book feel like a drag here and there because you never got a true "break". You just went to the next paragraph and continued reading.

I'm not really sure why you would write a book that way, but that's how she thought she'd do it and it sucked.

Besides that, the book wasn't bad. There were moments where it felt like the show and others, that felt like she was just buying time to fill pages because she had nothing more to write. The ending is horrible because it drags on for 30 more pages, where they do nothing but celebrate or talk about what's going on in a characters head.

There was some great stuff on Book, whom most authors tend to avoid writing about in the series. And Simon Tam appeared to be the star of the novel yet he wasn't featured on the cover which I found strange.

After a job goes south, Book and Zoe are captured for ransome and Mal and and the gang have to figure out a way to get the money in time to get them returned before they're shot the next day.

There's a mystery to resolve as well but it's not a head scratcher by far to figure it out. The book takes place in-between the series and let's you know that in the preface.

Overall, it was fine and not the worst by far, so if you're thinking about picking it up I can recommend it for what it is.

Game I got rid of (40)

I bought this and the dice version at the same time. Over the years, I found I was playing the dice version of the game more, so I sent this out on a trade and never looked back!

Regrets: Though this is in a lot of people's "Top 100" list, I feel they never played the dice game before. WAY more fun and a lot of hard decisions to make each roll. The base game is overrated.

Blacklight (movie review)

 Just finished this movie.

Horrible.

Besides Mr Neeson, the acting is terrible. The script? Horrendous. Sound effects, score, lighting, camera shots, EVERYTHING!!! Awful.

I've never NOT liked a Liam Neeson movie before...guess there's a first time for everything.

Game I got rid of (39)

This game is awesome. Sadly my gaming group NEVER got the rules right and each game ended in confusion.

This is a spy game where you're trying to find your partner in a 4 player game without revealing yourself to you enemies.

This is done very carefully through card reveals to one another. Once you found your partner it's a race to complete your joint mission first before the other team finds out!

The pieces are awesome too! The only problem was in the card reveal. One must be true and the other false. You can have 2 truths too but never ALL false answers.

Every. Time. Someone played all fake answers. When that happens, it causes confusion on all sides. No one knows who their partner is and the whole game ends miserably for one team.

I had no choice but to sadly give it away.

Regrets: YES! But what was I to do? It literally happened EVERY GAME. Even though I reminded players of the rule EACH TIME they traded information with one another. Nothing ever seemed to work.

Mouse on a Motorcycle

Another movie I remember watching on ABC's after school special was this one based off another children's book.

I remember loving it as a kid but I'm sure it didn't age well. My brother doesn't remember it though. It's funny how we tend to remember different things from our childhood.

How to Eat Fired Worms

My brother reminded me of an old movie we watched on TV years ago that was based off a book, where the new kid in school tries to be cool and lies about eating worms all the time.

The lie gets him into a bet where he has to eat 12 worms by the end of the week to prove he was telling the truth.

Yeah, not much of a story line is it? But I remember loving it as a kid. Would I watch it today? HECK NO!

But it was a blast from the past when my brother reminded me of it.

Anyone else out there know what I'm talking about? Did you ever see this?

Daddy Day out!

Me and my pumpkins had a day out today so Mommy could rest with the little ones.

I love these types of days and look forward to having several more over the next couple of months while I'm off.

Love my girls!

The good ole days

Remember when you were young and all you did all day was sit around and listen to music?

We used to listen to my mom and dad's records all the time as kids. We did nothing else, but sing along or pretend to play.

Wild no one does that anymore. At least, I don't think it's as common as it used to be. I thought about this the other day when listening to some old James Taylor songs in the car.

Countless memories of my brothers and I sitting around listening to each track.

Crazy stuff!

The 160 Game Challenge

My paternity leave starts next week and goes on for the next 16 weeks.

In that time, my goal is to have 160 games played. True, a lot of them will probably be vintage games since those are the fastest to play through.

Will I make it? I don't know but I'm going to give it my best shot!

What happened to this show?

Remember when Walking Dead was "can't miss" TV? Now it's clear they've completely run out of ideas and are just coasting till the end.

We're watching "part 2" of the 3 part Series finale?! (how that works is beyond me) It's so bad, Megan and I now find ourselves cruising the internet while it plays on TV.

But since this is the last season, we're in it till the end I guess.

What the show has become now is a shame when you look back on those first 5 seasons.

Game I got rid of (38)

Played this a lot when I first got it. While some of the adventures come with "real" clues, others didn't. Some were silly puns that were unimaginable, while others never made sense at all.

Since so little care went into the clues, I eventually gave this away to a friend who enjoys it way more than I did, so I'm glad.

Regrets: Meh. I love Sherlock Holmes but I wish the mysteries were better thought out.

Game I got rid of (37)

Fun little game about cats. Great production too but I ended up giving it away to a friend of mine who had the game but lost it in a house fire.

Though I played it a lot, he's a cat lover so I was happy to give him another copy.

Regrets: Not really. Though I did play it a lot, I never missed it after it left my collection so I guess that means it didn't need to be there in the first place.

Postal Service still sucks

I recently was set to receive  package early this week. It was mailed to the old address but was supposed to be forwarded.

It was instead sent back to the sender.

The MOMENT I saw it online I went into the local location here and asked them what was going on. They told me as long as I had a forwarding address it would arrive at my new location.

A few days later, the retailer sent me a refund when they received the package back.

When I called USPS they didn't know how it happened. And then I discovered they haven't forwarded ANY of my mail since mid-December.

I have the Postal Service. If there were any other option to use to send packages to me from this retailer I'd beg them to.

The USPS is such a joke!
