What's the deal??

Made an order with Amazon early this month for a book that was supposed to come in on the 22nd.

On the 21st I asked Alexa when it would arrive and she told me the next day....as did my orders tab online.

The next day I get a message that the book has been delayed until Feb 22nd.

But the real kicker is that a buddy of mine ordered the SAME book from Amazon and got his copy today.

Pretty pissed.

Up 23 cents!

I KNEW I should have filled up both tanks yesterday!

You know you're getting old when you actively keep track of gas prices like it's the stock market.

Games I got rid of (15)

I got rid of this game 3 times, as I kept getting extra copies. It's certainly unique but not up my alley. Playing in the dark just doesn't work out that well with an adult gaming group.

Regrets: None. Gave a copy to my nephews who loved it and 2 copies to Norm from the Board Game Museum because the first one i gave him, he sold and years later forgot all about it and wanted a copy so I sent him another.

Games I got rid of (14)

GREAT looking game but the gameplay SUCKED. Play a card, move. That was about it. I traded it for Ice Cube. MUCH better game!

Regrets: Again, it looked pretty but played awful. So no.

Games I got rid of (13)

Guess what? 2 players. (seeing a theme here?) so it had to go.

Regrets: To be fair, this game wasn't that good in the first place, so I never would've played it either way I think.

Games I got rid of (12)

Another 2 player game that wasn't getting to the table so I had to give it away to someone who would.

Regrets: None. Though fun, I just don't have a 2nd player to play with.

Games I got rid of (11)

Great game but every time someone won we later found out they played it wrong so I had to let it go.

Regrets: None. I couldn't stop people from accidently cheating the rules and winning the game. I mean, it happened EVERY TIME no matter how many times I went over the rule. This is a VERY fun game if played properly. But in this case, it couldn't be done with the group I played it.

Daylight staying

I complain every year around winter how the nights get darker and darker. Well this week I've noticed we've been getting about 15-30 more minutes of daylight lately.

I'm loving it. Bring on the long summer days...I can't wait for them.

Also the warmth....I need warm weather.

AP

I love board games but it sucks playing with people who suffer from AP.

I don't know what goes through their brain as they sit there deciding what to do, while I'm thinking 5 moves ahead. And it's not that the games are complicated either! Most of the ones I play have simple decisions to make.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes even I have to stop and think before making a move but GEEZ! Every turn????!!!

Aggravating

Games I got rid of (10)

Another great 3M game but when playing with Megan one night she accidently smashed up her entire hand, thereby marking the card forever on future plays.

And since the game deals in secrets, I knew I had to let it go.

Regrets: None. Though fun to play, there are better bidding games in my collection I'd rather play.

Everybody knows the rules

 Oh my-lanta!

Recently been watching "One Bite Pizza" reviews on YouTube and this show is a GEM.

I've laughed more than once. This is great stuff. Highly recommended if you watch a lot of YouTube like me.

He also has his own frozen pizza. You better believe I'm grabbing one next time I'm at the grocery store!

Losing streak

No winning for ole Joe as the courts deliver another blow to his tyrannical ways and throw out his vaccine mandates for employees both Federal and Commercial.

I guess making shameless grabs for power still isn't allowed in the US? Good to know.

Well what do you know?

New study from the CDC came out where they finally admitted that natural immunization is BETTER at preventing COVID than a vaccine shot.

Science has proven this over and over again for years.

Way to go CDC, you're finally catching up with science....but still have a long way to go.

Games I got rid of (9)

This game looked fun....but it sucked because the pellets were so light it didn't matter how many you ate, the scale in the game couldn't tell the difference, so I gave it away to Norm at the Board Game Museum.

Regrets: The only one would be the designers didn't fix such an easy to spot flaw in their game. Good idea, terrible execution.

The land of the Free

How are things going for the country that has simply ignored the pandemic?

Pretty good.

All stats put them middle of the road on cases but way above the rest on economy, schools and mental health.

Go figure.

I wonder when the rest of the world will pull their head out of the sand and do the same?

Nick Saban gets burned by Jonah Wendt

The only thing missing from this is a shot of Nick Saban's face watching the clip.

Escrow Refund Bummer

After selling the home I was looking forward to my escrow refund, which is most cases I've seen is around a couple of hundred bucks.

But for some reason, mine ended up being $66. I don't know how that's possible. I've never seen one that low before.

I mean, the state minimum would be at least $200, so something's not right. I'd rather have received a Jelly of the Month club certificate instead.

Sucks.

Games I got rid of (8)

REALLY nice looking game with metal planes but due to it being 2 players I had to part ways with it as well.

Regrets: A little. I wish I played 2 player more often because this never would've left. But it simply isn't the case so it had to go.

Games I got rid of (7)

Fun 3M game that was similar to Chess but with different moving pieces. Even though it claimed to be up to 4 players, it was really a 2 player with 4 players being on teams. I had to let it go since 2 player games RARELY come to the table.

Regrets: It was a beautiful game and if Megan would've played it with me I've still have it today. But since I still don't play 2-player, I don't miss it.

Games I got rid of (6)

The ONLY party game I ever enjoyed playing. But when one of my best friends moved away last year, I included this one in his board game package.

Regrets: Though I enjoyed the game I knew I was never going to play it unless I didn't have a choice, so no.

I blame Rob

Saw a video today of people defending Rob Manfred over the latest MLB strike. Saying it's not really his fault.

I disagree completely with that statement.

He's the Commissioner who has established THE WORST relationship to MLB players in the shortest amount of time. It's so bad now that the season is now in doubt.

I hope it goes forward...for baseball but every week that slips by it appears things only get worse between the 2 sides.

History tells us the players will eventually cave (as they always have) and baseball will suffer. The only demand I'm against for the players is having a DH in the National League. I hate that because it's the only thing separating the  two leagues and making them feel so special.

But what if they put in replacement players? Well, one they'd be blackballed by other MLB players and shunned from the sport altogether when the pros come back. But if it were me and I was below average with a chance to play in the game (though not as elite) I'd jump on it in a heartbeat and I think others would too.

Sure you may lose some managers with that decision but if Bartolo Colon shows up in a Mets uniform next year because of it, Mets fans won't be completely dissatisfied.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens next I guess.

Though this guy is COMPLETELY at fault at this point.

What a waste

I like the idea of wireless ear buds. Unfortunately, you have to pay in the hundreds to get a decent pair. My first pair cost $70 and hardly ever worked. My next pair was $90 and didn't fair much longer.

The problem? After a few uses, one would power off, even though they were charged at the same time, OR they ALWAYS had issues connecting to my phone.

So even though they would be nice to have, I'm sticking to my $1 headphones which last MONTHS longer than the both of these combined ever did.

What's the point?

We have a gas fireplace (generic picture featured above) It sucks. It doesn't give off ANY heat and is basically something to look at.....that cost money.

Megan's had it on all day. She likes the look at it. I can only imagine us roasting dollar bills over the gas fire.

Games I got rid of (5)

Fun game but since my group hates co-ops, I gave it away to a friend of mine whose family enjoyed it for many years and I'm glad.

Regrets: None. They are better co-ops out there I'd rather play.

Biden defeated

As the Supreme Court strikes down Biden's highly unconstitutional stance on the unvaccinated one can only think.... how could anyone think it would actually hold up in court?!?

I'm waiting for my employer to send out a notice, walking back all the draconian rules they've put into effect through all this insanity.

Still waiting....any minute now....get your lawsuits ready if they don't folks!

The Ebay search is on!

Been looking for a Hardy Boyz jersey for over a month now. No luck.

Saw one in October but passed because we were purchasing a new home at the time.

How can one jersey be so hard to find? I hope that doesn't mean that next time it posts it won't cost a small fortune.

Knowing my luck it will.

Hotel Transyvania Transformania

 Got to watch it tonight.

Not really that good but then again, this is Megan's movie, not mine.

I'm sure they'll continue doing these though as long as the money comes in. Megan's thrilled about the idea.

Pass.

Virus-phobia

Megan's family seems to suffer from it these days.

For her baby shower they asked everyone to mask up while inside. (mind you it was family only)

But we crowded around the dinner table eating pizza together with hardly any elbow room for over an hour maskless.

Then, as they retreated to the living room again, they all pulled back on their masks like nothing ever happened.

Good sheep. Go to sleep now.

Seriously, the fact that NO ONE saw the total hypocrisy in this was outstanding.

2 Trash Cans

Having two cans at the new house is great.

We've been able to fill up both every week without issue. Today I just filled up the first one and we only have 2 more days until they come to pick it up so instead of packing some last minute bags onto the top of the can and hoping the wind doesn't blow it over, I can easily reax and know I have plenty of room.

You know you've made it to the big time when you roll with 2 trash cans son.

Games I got rid of (4)

This was the first game to teach me a lesson in researching a game BEFORE buying it.

What an awful game. Slow, boring and essentially roll and move with fancy rules that slowed down the game. SO glad I traded it for a better one down the road.

Regrets: NONE

Games I got rid of (3)

Oh man. Back in the day, this game was played all the time! At work parties and at the beach. But as my nephews got older I gave it to them before it lost its luster and would've been stuck in my collection forever.

Regrets: None. Silly party game that won't be missed.

Games I got rid of (2)

Great game. But after my grandmother passed away everyone in my family stopped playing it so I had to give it away.

Regrets: Yes and no. Yes in that it was a fun game I enjoyed, but "no" because I'd never find anyone to play with me. (like Boggle)

Games I got rid of (1)

Today kicks off a long series of posts that was suggested to me by a reader. What games have I gotten rid of in the past and why?

Well, here we go!

This was a fun one and the video was on YouTube so it doesn't require having a VCR.

But when I was away at work, Megan played the game with her nephew and they lost some of the pieces so it was unplayable. Therefore....GONE!

Regrets: None. This was a good one I used to play with my nephews when they were young, but these days I doubt it'd get to the table that much.

Wendy's Frosty Cereal

Saw it at Sam's and ha to try it.

Sucks. Doesn't even taste like chocolate. Bland.

Very disappointing.

You get a free small Frosty with the purchase, so at least you get $1 worth back from the money you lost getting it in the first place.

Ghostbusters Cereal Review

Back in the 80's this was the coolest cereal to be eating with your friends. When the new movie came out they brought out a different version of it but it didn't stop me from tracking down a copy.

I didn't get one until November and then I had to move so I didn't get around to trying it until just a few weeks ago.

Meh.

It's Kix cereal with marshmallows. Disappointing.....and even worse....I didn't feel cool at all.

Too bad.

Christmas is coming again!!!

Just found out a new version of one of my favorite games is getting a reprint!!

The artwork on the cover looks great and I hear the gameplay will be improved too.

At the moment, nothing is known that much about the re-release but I can't wait either way!!!!

Clueless

This was my former Mortgage Insurer.

For 2 weeks they haven't responded to email inquiries of when my refund check for my old house that sold will come in.

So I went by their workplace.....crawling with roaches they had the lights off in the office and the door locked around Friday at 1pm.

Maybe they get off by noon?

No hours were posted on the door.

Then, I called the company. The lady told me she didn't have a record of my check being cut yet and would have to wait an additional week for any information on when the check would arrive.

When I came home yesterday....the check was in the mailbox.

These people are idiots.

Tetherball

To let you know, I was king of this game back in grade school. NO ONE could beat me. But I think that's because I had a height advantage.

We also had a rule that you played until you lost. Which I never did. I remember being really proud of that record and excited to show off my tetherball skills at the next place we moved to.

Problem was....no one played it here.

So much for bragging rights!

How would I do these days? I'm not sure....but I'm willing to give it a shot if ever the opportunity presented itself!

Four Square

Just thought of this game today while reading my brother's new book "Hush Hush"

Dang! Used to play this all the time in highschool. LOVED IT.

I still see kids at the church after worship playing it in the parking lot. I never heard of this game until we moved to Monroe and even then didn't realize it was that popular around the nation.

At my school it was tetherball......oh man....one that note, I'll be right back!

December's Here

On the other hand, NFG's Christmas Album (I found out about AFTER the season) is excellent!

Only one skippable song on the album. The rest are solid. It doesn't carry 2 remakes on it, being "Nothing for Christmas" and "It'll Never Snow in Florida" which is weird because it was part of their very first album and has nothing to do with Christmas but I guess they wanted to pad the album with it.

The new versions aren't as good as the original if you ask me, but the original "Nothing for Christmas" is one of my girls FAVORITE songs of the season. they sing it all the time and it IS a solid song I think everyone will love.

I know it's past the season, but I give you permission to break the unwritten rule of playing X-mas songs before the holiday and giving it a try.

Forever and Ever and Beyond

Another album I completely missed last year was from my 2nd favorite band NFG!

Listened to it and while it's a pretty standard set of songs, it's not in my Top 5. I think this will be like the last album for me. I'll play it every once in a while but it won't be a "go to" album when suggesting it to someone who doesn't know them.

Just like Zebrahead however, I' glad they're still pushing out albums on a frequent basis.

Zebrahead III

I didn't even know they'd come out with a new album last year!

Just listened to it today and sadly, there's not a clear "hit" on it like there are on so many of their other albums.

There is a funny song about how kids these days don't appreciate music as much as they used to (with the next lyric joking about sounding like his father when he says that) which is pretty funny but other than that, the album falls a little flat.

Either way, it's good to see these guys are still kicking out albums!

Snickers Cinnamon Bun???

As you know I must try every flavored Snickers bar I can find. So when I saw this one... I wasn't impressed.

But knew I had to give it a shot.

Ready? It taste just like a regular Snickers bar to me. Weird right? I honestly couldn't taste the difference.

What a weird flavor to give Snickers in the first place right?

Have a good weekend folks!

Choosing the 3rd party

 I'm a 3rd party guy.

In fact, Trump has been the ONLY Republican president I've ever voted for.

I don't believe it's throwing away your vote. I believe it's putting your vote to who you think deserves it the most. And that isn't one of the big 2 parties (usually)

So next time around (if Trump doesn't run) I'll happily be looking at all the 3rd party candidates and seeing who deserves my vote the most.

And is Americans ever grow a backbone, they should do the same.

Kids not allowed

I love that we have so many stupid people deciding not to have children. I think that's great.

Really.

More opportunities for my kids to take over the world and for Christians to dominate the next generation to come.

So please unbelievers. STOP having children. It's the best thing that could happy to Christianity.

Year Round Tree?

Have you heard of people doing this? Keeping a tree up all year round and docrating it for the different seasons of the year.

I'm sort of a fan of this idea but don't want to try until the girls get older and want to. But doesn't the tree lose its luster if it's up all year?

I had a friend who had his up until Halloween and took it down, only because he wanted the tradition of putting it up the next month for Christmas.

I was like "If you had it up all year, then what was the point stopping at the very end for 25 days short of the full year?"

Maybe my girls will be into decorating when they're older.

Mardi Gras Tree

Believe it or not, a lot of folks around here carry their Christmas trees over to the next holiday on the calendar, Mardi Gras.

I see more people doing this every year. In fact, right now at Wal-Mart they're selling Mardi Gras Tree decorations as well as toppers!

Insane. In my opinion, ugly too.

Boo-yah!

Had a bad feeling about gas prices yesterday and filled up the tank.

Today prices rose 15 cents!

BOO-YAH!!!!

Don't you love it when you get lucky like that?

I've been on the other side of the coin on prices too though and it sucks when you see it go up and you missed your chance to get a deal.

Packing it up for the holidays!

It's my least favorite time of the season. Packing everything up.

It took forever and (as usual) I had to do it all by myself.

We collected tons of new crap and will eventually need another bin for it all next year.

I tried throwing some stuff away but did get to chuck as much away as I wanted. We have SO MANY LIGHTS from past seasons but we never use them. I dream of a time when we can cut down on decorations even further but knowing Megan....it'll never happen.

Wacky Weather

Tuesday it was 35

Yesterday it was 70.

Today it was 40.

No wonder so many people get sick this time of year around here.

Wrong again Joe!

Over the holidays Biden said the hospitals would be flooded with unvaccinated people and there would be massive deaths.

Hospitals barely made 50% and 1 in every 5 of those committed for COVID were VACCINATED.

And the media just whistles and walks away...
