October Movie Preview

Let's do this!
What?! Why??? Who is this supposed to be for? What kid remembers the Addam's Family?! I'm confused....and uninterested.

There's a LOT of people excited to see the new Joker film, my wife included.....too bad I'm not. Kind of done with DC altogether at this point.

ANOTHER movie?! I had to double check this to make sure it was real because after so many years I don't know why they decided to make another one now. It's not like Angelina's been busy with her career in the past 5 years.

Pass.
And right after I mock a movie for waiting so long to make a sequel, here I am excited about this one. Loved the first movie, begged for another and after a painstakingly long wait here it comes. I just hope it's as good as the first.

Miss anything? Let me know in the comments and I'll see how much I care.

5-0

Well, that was easy. I just hope we look that good going up against Florida in the swamp.

Unlike Bama, our path ain't ever easy.

Vegas Baby Vegas!

Here's the cover for the new Zombies!!! game coming out next year. Sadly, they're dropping the numbers at the end so it doesn't say "16" Very sad to hear but I'm looking forward to it all the same!

Megan and the girls are going to be featured on one of the cards!

Have a great weekend folks!

Bone Tomahawk

This movie slipped under the radar for me when I came out a few years ago. Never even heard of it until Red Letter Media did a review on it and it perked my interest. The film is bloody and gruesome....we're talking like "Saw" movie series so. But it's an excellent film! So glad I got the chance to see it.

If you find yourself on one of those nights where you don't know what you want to watch, I suggest giving this beauty a try.....unless it's with your wife....who doesn't like gore.....then hard pass, HARD PASS!

Cigarette Burns Review

I remember when the "Masters of Horror" show was playing on Showtime back in the day and when this episode came out EVERYONE was begging me to watch it. At the time Norman Reedus was only known for his work on Boondock Saints (which I loved) so I wanted to see the episode but as years went by I kept forgetting and it was out of sight out of mind for many years until I finally remembered it and gave it a shot.

John Carpenter directed it so I was excited to see it. The story is about a movie that makes you go crazy and kill yourself if you watch it. Not a unique idea these days but back then I'm sure it was a new concept.

The movie is boring. Extremely so.  I wish I could give this one a thumbs up but instead I'll just warn you not to waste your time.

Annabelle Comes Home Review

My wife hated the Conjuring. She sat in the theaters with her eyes closed and ears covered throughout the entire film. Yet every time they make an Annabelle movie, she wants to see it. I guess she has something for demonic dolls?!

These movies have been a snore and when the 3rd one came out I heard it was "the best of the series"

Of course it was just a line to get people to see the flick. Though I don't remember the last 2 that well, I can say this one might be the dumbest. Why can't we just have Conjuring 3 and leave things at that?!

La Llorona Review

So I saw this "unofficial" spin off from the Conjuring series and it sucked. It had a few good moments but my emphasis is "a few"

It's weird that both Conjuring movies are so good but all the others they spin off from it are garbage. Is it just me or does anyone else feel this way?

4-0

I hate to keep sounding so negative after every win but our defense looked so undisciplined it was embarrassing to watch. Next week in Miss State (should win) Florida (surprisingly I think we should win) and Arkansas, another win.

Then LSU.....whoa boy.  This is going to be a crazy few weeks.

App games I wish I could find again

I don't play many app games but here's a few I wish I could find again.

I had a version of Diner Dash on my iPad years ago which was awesome! I'd play thru the entire game the whole time. The coolest thing about it? All levels were free! Sadly, when I got rid of my iPad I forever lost the game and will probably never find that version again.

To be more specific I remember some of the levels had you on a pirate ship, up in a tree, a submarine and a haunted mansion. I hate that I can't remember what the subtitle was.

This is not the game shown above but it's was called something like "Bubble Pop" though looking thru the app store that's not it. I had this on my very first cell phone! In the game, you rotated a triangle made up of 3 bubbles and tried to get them to match the colors of others to get them to pop.

I guess now that they have the "newer" versions of the game out there the original is now no where to be found. I remember I kept my old phone and would insert my sim card in it at nights just so I could play the game!
Finally, the last game I remember playing a lot though I don't remember the name was one where you ran you're own amusement park. You'd start by building all the cheap stuff first but instead of buying more coins in their app store to unlock rides quicker, you did things the long way and sat on the game gathering coins the rides would generate from attendees.

Sometimes it'd take you days (or weeks!) to save up for the next ride but it was so satisfying when you got it you didn't mind.

However I lost this game when I bought a knew phone and it didn't transfer over. Much to my disappointment.

Have a good weekend folks!

Letterkenny

Off my brother's recommendation I decided to try this YouTube turned TV series out last month.

Hilarious stuff. It's like an R rated Napoleon Dynamite in Ontario. The characters are over the top but in a good way and overall the show's pretty fun to watch.

There's only 6 episodes in a season and they're each under 30 minutes which makes for an very easy show to binge watch. Recommended if you're in to that sort of thing.

Tolkien Movie Review

What a horrible waste of time. Terribly written and extremely boring. I major disappoint. It appears they took out every interesting aspect of Tolkien's life and made a movie.

Don't waste your time. I'm sorry I did.

Thirstquencher

Back in the day this was my drink of choice when I wanted something to drink after a day of mowing lawns.

I don't know if they make it anymore but lemon lime was the flavor I always got and it was so good and so cold, at the moment, it was the best thing in the world to me!

If I ever came across one, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat just to see if it was as good as I remembered it to be.

Just looking at this pic makes me thirsty.

Batman vs TMNT

I do enjoy watching Batman animated movies, so I decided to go ahead and give this crossover movie a try. Why was I surprised that it was another hit.

I don't know how DC movies in theaters can suck so bad but when it comes to their animated features they're the best. I don't get how that works.

Good movie. Worth your time if you're a fan of either of these franchises.

FLGS in Monroe!

Hey hey hey! Tomorrow is the grand opening of Monroe's own gaming store!
Though mainly for Magic and Warhammer, they do have a small selection of noteworthy board games. I hope it grows over time.

Either way, I'm glad we finally have one in our town!

Auburn vs Kent State

(Sigh) Sure, we did good....against a AA school. I really hope we play well against Texas A&M next week. That's going to be our first real test to see if we have a football team or not.

I'm really worried though. #8 just means  it'll make bigger news in the media when we get upset.

War Eagle either way.

Old Forgotten Websites (5)

Before YouTube there was Ebaumsworld. Where we all went to laugh or gape in awe at videos from around the world, where amazing or hilarious things were being recorded and shown on the sight. I loved it. I checked it everyday. I don't quite remember when YouTube took over my life and I stopped visiting the site but back in the day, this was the place to be on the interwebs!

Have a good weekend folks!

Old Forgotten Websites (4)

Today let's look back on all those excellent file sharing sites!

It all started with the short lived Napster. Which took off like wildfire only to burn out in under 2 years. But it quickly got usurped by several other sites we all used to use.

I remember the first one to pick up after Napster went down was Kazaa. I also remember that they went down shortly after. I even have a burned cd in my collection titled "The Last CD of Kazaa" signifying the last few songs I was able to get from the site before it was shut down.

Limewire. Probably may favorite of all the ones I used to use back in the day. I downloaded quite the collection of odd music from here. Bands no one's ever heard of, cartoon and tv theme songs as well as children's songs from records I had as a kid.

Sadly, this type of music STILL isn't available to get anywhere else and that's a shame! I kind of miss these sites.

Old Forgotten Websites (3)

Today it's time to talk about a few fun websites you may have gone to back in the day and forgotten all about:

Homestarrunner. Who didn't love this site in the early 2000's? Flash cartoons at their absolute BEST! Too bad they've abandoned it. But you can see all their videos on YouTube now and they even came out with a Trogdor board game which I love!

So many hours spent on this sight laughing my butt off at Strongbad reading emails!
Another great site. Girls (and guys) would get on here and you would rate their "hotness" I knew several girls who posted a pic on the site only to be crushed by a low rating. I may have been one of the internet's earliest "trolls" for what I did.

I'd go on the site just to rank everyone a "1" then move on to another site. Yep, I did it to be a jackass. Plain and simple. With social media, this is another site that has faded from memory over the years.

See you tomorrow with more!

Old forgotten websites (2)

Continuing my look back on old website, I thought I'd mention a few I used to check all the time back in the day:
Who had a Xanga blog? I think I did way back in the day but am not sure. I went with Blogger and have obviously stayed with them ever since. But I remember Xanga being a BIG deal back before social media was born.

The other site for me was this one. I used to go on it every week and see if anyone posted some good Star Wars fiction. While the answer was generally "No" most of the time, every once in a while I was able to enjoy a pretty good short story from it which is why I kept going back.

Any of these sites send you back down nostalgia lane?

I think I'm going to be sick

Auburn didn't look any better against Tulane this weekend and yet we moved up to #8 in the polls. I'm thinking they're doing this for TV ratings when we face off against Texas A&M in a few weeks.

But make no mistake about it.... we looked bad out there.

On the flip side my Alum almost pulled off a huge upset this week over Florida State! I can't believe how well they played! This might be one of the best seasons for ULM yet!

I'll be cheering them on. They showed a lot of promise last week.

Old forgotten websites (1)

This week I thought I'd go back through time when the internet was a lot simpler and there wasn't as much out there as there is today.

Here's a few website that might bring you back!

Thought I'd kick things off by talking about some old search site people used to use before Google took over in popularity.
To be honest, I used Yahoo a lot back in the day but do recall using webcrawler and Ask Jeeves every once in a while too. I don't remember there being much of a difference between the sites since they usually brought up the same thing in searches. How Google was able to beat them all out I can't say for sure but you'd think something like Web Crawler would've caught on over time.

Top Games Restoration Games should reprint

If you don't know, Restoration Games is  company that takes old games and reprints them with upgraded rules. They were the ones responsible for the amazing Fireball Island reprint as well as a few others that haven't been as popular.

So here's a few games I think they should bring back!

Great racing/battle game. There's been rumor they are looking in to this one but I'm sure the title would have to change.
No chance in this one getting a reprint from the company, but a guy can wish can't he?
May be a little surprise but this game is pretty good. Now they could repackage the theme by making you a mall owner and trying to attract people to come to your mall. I think it's be an interesting take on the subject.
This may be another one they're looking into. It would be controlled through an app these days rather than an electronic sound board. Shame, but I'd still like to see it happen!

Idiotic

Why do people raise the incline of the treadmill only to hold on to it for dear life as they walk?! I've never understood this but I see it ALL THE TIME in the gym. It's stupid to see and I'm clueless to why people think it's a good idea.

ok, that's all I have for today.

The Boys Review

Last month I saw The Boys on Amazon Prime. A dark comedy based in a world where all the super heroes are controlled by a corporation who markets them to make money.

Very good characters, premise and story...so far. It sets itself up for a season 2 but I'll be watching it because it was pretty good! If you haven't checked this one out yet you might want to give it a try!

War Eagle?

Hard to celebrate a win when your team looked awful for most of the game. Our Quarterback has the possibility of being the worst in the SEC and our defense looked down right stupid at times.

Maybe Oregon is the best team in the PAC-10, at least that's what I hope. It looks like it's going to be a long season for us unless we repair our broken offense and defense in time for Texas A&M in 3 weeks.

Happy Labor Day!

Hope you have a great one folks! I plan on getting some board games played today!
