Trick or Treat

It's that time of year again when I lock my doors, turn off the lights and hope none of these little beggars ring my door!

Wait...isn't this a holiday too?

Walking Dead thoughts

Last week the Walking Dead premiered. And though I voiced my complaints about the last season, I tried going into this season with an open mind.

They failed to impress.

But it wasn't with the story or the character deaths (I guessed who it was months ago) it was the "cash-out" advertising that went into it.

The commercials looked like they were from the Super Bowl. AMC must have charged in the millions because they knew they had a story line that would pull people in to watch LIVE. The commercials had stars selling products and after all that we sat thru a post-show that was longer than the actual show!?

All to cash the money in on viewers and I hated it.

Oh, I'll still watch the Walking Dead. I still believe they can put together a good story this season, but the massive commercialism sell-outs they've become makes me sick.

But at least it ain't "Fear the Walking Dead" right?

November Movie Review

Getting close to the end of the year, let's see what shlock Hollywood has out for us next month!

 Dr Strange

Congratulations Strange. You have the honor of being the first Marvel movie I won't be seeing in theaters!
Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them

I can't wait to see it.....at Redbox.

 Moana

When the only thing piquing my interest on going to see this is all the outrage Social Justice Warriors have made about it, you know it can't be that good.
Bad Santa 2

I don't know why they thought, making another one years later would be a good idea. PASS!

Did I miss any? Do I care?! Let me know in the comments!

World Series Review (so far)

As the greatest game comes to its final series I have to admit, so far...it's been great.

As the entire world cheers for the Cubs, I find myself cheering for the Indians. After missing out on the ring for the last two times they were there, the Indians have just a fascinating story as the Cubs.

Here is a team NOBODY picked to win at the beginning of the season. Heck, most picked them to finish 3rd in their division. (me included) They just didn't look like a championship team.

We'll they're out there proving everyone wrong this year. And though I still don't see how they can pull it off, I'll be cheering for them next week to close things out.

Guess we'll see this weekend, how things shape up.

Disneyland (41)

Sadly, the ONLY ride under construction at the time was the Haunted Mansion. I ride we both were looking forward to, but missed the re-opening of it by one week.

Disneyland (40)

The longest wait we had for a ride while we were there. It took about an hour to get on it. It was a good ride, but not worth the wait.

War Eagle?

So Auburn gets a bye week but moves up in the polls. Huh?! At first I was confused by this but then I realized, we're playing Arkansas and I guess some folks thought to make it interesting by giving Auburn a ranking before the game.

Anywho, War Eagle! PLEASE don't lose to the Hogs!!

Let it Ride

Another movie I watched was Let it Ride from 1989. Back when Richard Dreyfuss went on a tear of movies. (Kripindorf's Tribe being another)

This one, I hadn't seen since the early 90's so I was interested in seeing how it would play off too and it didn't disappoint. This is a movie that a lot of people forget about when they think of good 80's movies but I think it wasn't that bad at all!

Thinking back on it, I really enjoyed Richard's run of movies back in the day. (What about Bob? being a good one as well!)

What was your favorite Dreyfuss movie?

Saturday Morning Movie review

It's been a while since I've watched Tom Hanks movie "Big" but after finally having a chance to watch it a few weeks ago I have to say that it still stands up as being a pretty great movie!

It captures the 80's perfectly, as well as shows off Mr Hanks excellent acting chops as he pretends to be a kid as an adult and plays it off perfectly. It's a lot harder than it sounds to play a role like that.

So glad this one stood the test of time and hasn't lost it's luster after all these years!

Murder by the Numbers (Rides again!!!)

Well folks! Tonight is the night that Strauss theatre premieres one of my dinner theatre plays "Murder by the Numbers" A show that has tons of improv and audience participation. It's a great show and I'm so happy to be bringing back thanks to the Strauss.

Disneyland (21)

While there, we decided to stick around and grab a meal at a hot dog place...which ended up being not that good, sadly.

More vids coming tomorrow!

Disneyland (20)

They had the actual cars coming out for pictures which I thought was brilliant. Unfortunately however their main ride "Radiator Springs" was broke down the entire weekend and we didn't get to ride it. Major bummer there since that was one of the rides I was most looking forward to!

Disneyland (19)

Cars land was really interesting because it looked like it came straight out of scenes from the movie. It looked pretty cool!

Disneyland (18)

However, that doesn't mean she didn't enjoy it. : )

Disneyland (17)

Even though the Little Meremaid ride is available in Disney World, Megan still wanted to ride it here. It's the same ride in both parks. Though that didn't surprise me.

CD's Suck

I'm sure I've spoken about this before but I guess it was not on this blog. So I'm saying it now as I did back then. CD's suck!

Seriously. I have tapes that have lasted longer than these things. Lately, it's all been digital music for me, but I looked back through my old CD's I haven't played in a while and since a lot of that stuff isn't digital, I decided to play a few in my car.

More than half of them don't work.

I have no idea why. I took care of them. Individual sleeves, out of heavy weather or stacked underneath over objects. Yet still....they don't work.

What ticks me off more is that CD's are still CHEAPER than buying the album digitally. Which makes zero sense to me. There's no shipping or manufacturing costs involved, yet CD's come $2-$3 cheaper every time!

It's a messed up world in the music industry.

Saturday Morning Movie Review

Today I thought I'd share a review of a movie I watched all the time as a kid and just recently saw again last week.

The Ghost and Mr Chicken is a great comedy that lost a little of it's luster as I watched it again. Back as a kid, I loved it for it's "horror" but don't think I ever understood what the movie was about! Seeing it years later I've come to appreciate it's simple humorous moments that I missed as a kid.

Though not that scary, a fun movie to watch around this time!

Another dissappointing season

Well, it happened again.

The Mets couldn't score and sadly all of our pitchers are injured to play and we have a bunch of amateurs taking their stead. It's like the New York Times said this morning "I want to believe the Mets can pull this game off, but then again... they're the Mets"

Now that my baseball season is over I guess I'll turn on a football game this Saturday and pine for next season so the Mets can disappoint me again.

Injuries aside, they did the best they could. Probably better. But (as always) they never can pull it off when it matters most. I guess that's why Mets fan like myself and others keep believing.

And you thought Saints fans were pathetic. :)

Disneyland (11)

Final thoughts with Megan.

Disneyland (10)

As you can see, somebody was a chicken on the ride.

Disneyland (9)

Me on the ride.

The next ride we went on was Mikey's Ferris Wheel. It looked pretty harmless but...well, I'll show you the video of my thoughts on this later today...

Mets Tickets

Wanna ticket to the Mets game tomorrow night? It's going to cost ya.

The average ticket right now is going online for an average $314

Yankees Wild Card tickets last year averaged $174

That's slightly higher than standing room only for the Mets game this year at $162

Looks like New York knows which team is worth supporting.

Let's Go Mets!!

Disneyland (7)

See you tomorrow with more videos!

Disneyland (6)

Our final thoughts on the place. As you can tell by our faces, we had a lot of fun!

Disneyland (5)

As you see, there was plenty of fun to be had at this place. If I were a kid I don't think my Mom could have ever taken me away from this place. I would have lived here as a kid. It was the ultimate fort!!

Disneyland (4)

The Redwood forest area is a cool little place for kids to play in. I would've walked right by it but Megan saw it and wanted to go in. I'm glad she did because it was a lot of fun.

I'll post more videos on this place, later today.

Disneyland (3)

So our first ride we went one was the "new" Soarin' Around the World Adventure. I have to admit t was a pretty good ride but still more of the same you got on the previous version. If you ever go to Disnyland or World though I highly recommend it because it's such a fun experience.

More videos coming later today!

Tomorrow I'll start posting more about our ride experiences!

Welcome to October and the month of Disneyland videos, reviews and pics! Last month for our anniversary we went to Disneyland for the first time ever.

Lot's of video and pics from our trip and I plan to share them all with you over the next few weeks!

May even pop another video up later today, so stay tuned!

TMNT 2 (Micheal Bay version) Review

After a tug-a-war of wills between Megan and I, I finally caved and rented TMNT 2 Out of the Shadows for her to watch.

Even worse, I agreed to watch it too.

....and it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.

Though I;m certainly staying home for the 3rd one when it comes out I have to admit, I like what they're trying to do with the Turtles, even though it ain't perfect.

Capturing the 80's cartoon so well is working for them. They didn't do it much in the 1st one but I started seeing a pattern with this. Who knows? Perhaps the 3rd one will be even better!

But I'm not holding my breath for it. :)

Met's Clinch Wild Card

Post Season Baseball is back.

LET'S GO METS!!

This is what victory looks like

So last week, we beat LSU in what has got to be one of the craziest games of 2016. I was with Megan at the Fair for most of the game, enduring trash talking from Tiger fans thru multiple texts on my phone when the game was about to start.

Then they suddenly went quiet.

When I got home, I had a feeling I knew why and in-between watching the Mets game, would go back and check the score. But it was the final play that was the shocker.

LSU scored a last minute TD but the time had already run out before they could snap the ball. How much crazier can you get to a college football ending?!

It's not something for Auburn to really celebrate though. 1 second more on the clock and Gus would've been the one looking for work.

Auburn played awful. LSU played worse and that's what won us the game, but more shocking news came the next day when the Tiger announced they'd fired Les Miles.

A guy with a winning record, who's brought a National Title and countless other victories to the Valley. He averages 10 wins a season (sometimes more) I'd LOVE those odds! But it boiled down to one thing to the folks in Baton Rouge....he wasn't Saban.

And guess what folks? No one is. Love him or hate him, Saban's the best coach in college football. He's not infallible but he's pretty darn close at times and that's what makes it unfair for other teams to hold coaches to his standard.

I don't think LSU will get any better than Les. I don't see who will be able to bring in as many wins. In fact, I'm going to make a prediction and say LSU will churn through at least 2 more coaches within the next 5 years and still come up with nothing better to show.

Les on the other hand, will be right back in the coaching position the moment some big school has a disappointing season. Heck, if anything, I'd ask Auburn to bring him on for his incredible recruiting talent alone!!

But LSU took one in the nuts last week and didn't like it very much. Yeah, I get it. But how to I feel about Gus? We were supposed to be better this year remember? Not perfect, but better than the last.

I don't see that in this team yet at the same time, I don't see anyone out there better than Gus. And though I respect Les I wouldn't want him as my head coach either. Though if he were (sigh) at least it'd be entertaining to find out how many new ways he can make us lose.

And now I know how every LSU fan feels right now.
