Imperial Troop Transport (short story)

Just when I thought I had it all....

The best thing about doing the podcast is that now folks are bringing me things I never knew existed. Take for instance this 1979 short story that came with the Imperial Troop Transport toy. Unbelievable!

And after further review I realized that not only does it fit into continuity with the other stories (with minor issues that can be easily explained) I discovered it was actually MENTIONED in another short story on starwars.com years later!!

Incredible! Is it no surprise I love these better than the movies?!

Anyway folks, today I thought I'd paste the copies here for you to see yourself.

Have a great day!

Upcoming Board Games

As a lot of you know, I love me some board games and there's a few board games coming out soon that I'm looking forward to.

 Firefly: Kalidasa

I love this game and even though I don't know much about this expansion other than the name, I can't wait for it to come out!
Zombies!!! 14: Space Bites

My favorite game in the world and I get excited every year when the new expansion comes out! This upcoming one is no exception and I look forward to fighting Zombies on a space station!!

K folks, just wanted to geek out for a minute. I'm done now!

More toys from the past!

I found a few more toy from my childhood I wanted to share today:

You hit the keys and their mouths open as if they're singing the notes themselves! I remember playing this one at our old church nursery I think.
And though we never had this, my neighbor did and I thought it was the coolest kit ever! We used to put water in the medicine bottle and pretend it was health potion from Zelda.
We had these too. Played with them for hours on no end. Don't know why but they were extremely fun to play with!
The Fisher Price Movie Viewer.

Completely forgot about it until doing a random search online for toys the other day and re-discovered it! My cousins had this and I thought it was so awesome! All you did was slide the cartridge into the back of the viewer and crank the handle to turn the pictures. Afterwards you rewound the whole thing and picked up the next one.

Fun toy, but the one that blew my nostalgia up past 100 was this...

Pop-up Pinball machine!!!!! I've been looking for this toy online for years and could never remember the name of it until I stumbled across it last month. I LOVED this toy growing up. I can't tell you how many times I played it either, it was SO fun!

Ok, that's my little stroll down memory lane. Thanks for walking it with me!

The "Me" Update

Been a while since I've done one of these so I thought now would be a great time as any to tell you what I've been up to.
After my dinner theatre ended in May I've had more free time to catch up on rewatching some older movies, getting a little reading in and having fun.
My next show got delayed and didn't come around in June, it's now been pushed back to a January date and I'm completely happy about that. At the moment, I don't plan on writing anymore but focusing on my writing skills and doing something else.

I'm attending a Writer's Symposium this week that should help hone my skills even better but we'll see.

Ok folks, that's all for now. See ya tomorrow!

August Movies

That time again to look at the upcoming movies for next month and already it looks like slim pickings!
 Fantastic Four

The reboot. I wasn't interested in this movie from the very beginning and still aren't impressed now that I'm seeing the trailers. Pass!
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Green Destiny

I liked the first one. I don't know much about this one but I may try it out if I have the time. Other than these two movies there's nothing really worth mentioning this month.

Chase Day

Back in May we had our first annual Chase Day for employees. I forgot to post this short clip of Megan heading down this:

The biggest blow up slide I've ever seen. I went down it and nearly took the skin off the back of my heels!

Megan didn't suffer any damage thanks to heeding my prior warnings to her.

It also took place at the Zoo. I place Megan always loves to visit. Here she is inside one of the exhibits. If you look close enough, you'll see her "I'm perfectly happy" face.

See you later folks!

Toy inserts

I've talked about this before and thought I'd mention it again since I found some more stuff I remembered back from my childhood. I wanted to see if any of you remembered it too!

First one is the "classic" Breakfast toy insert of the Baking Soda Submarine! You're mom showed you how it worked once, then it went to being just your average bath toy afterwards.

Didn't stop us from loving it any less however!
And finally there's these "Super" Warner Brothers characters from McDonalds (I think) who's costumes snapped on to their figures.

To be honest we only had the Batman/Daffy Duck one but it was still cool to play with for some reason. If you can't tell, we were very easy kids to please back in the day.

See ya later folks!

Burger King Kids Club

Holy crow! Do you remember these guys back in the 90's?!

Totally forgot about them until a friend of mine brought them up in conversation a few weeks ago. Kid Vid was the only one I could remember but he knew about 3 other names before we decided to look them up.

I remember thinking how Kid Vid was the coolest of them all.

We even got his racer toy in a BK Kids meal once and played with it for years!! (he's sitting inside a remote control)

I loved how it taught kids that watching TV and playing video games all the time was good for you!

Hmmm... I wonder why they got discontinued?

Ewoks Annual

And the finds keep coming in! Folks, I've lost count of the number of times I've claimed to have a complete collection of Star Wars Expanded Universe material and these days I don't even talk about it anymore because it's doubtful I ever will.

But every once in a while I come across gems that I never knew existed before and this is one of them here. Only made for the UK, this Ewoks Annual came with 3 short stories that were not in comic book form but rather written as short stories with illustrations.

I found out about it from my good friend Rich Handley and was able to obtain a copy of the stories shortly thereafter. While not the most riveting tales you'll ever read, I'm so glad to have them part of my collection. It's been a while since I've made a find like this. Undiscovered EU is rare these days. But it was a happy discovery and I look forward to the next uncovered tale to be found in the future!

Humans!!! 4

Wow. This game came in so low under the radar that I didn't even know it was being made until now! Should be out in the next few weeks so I'll definitely pick up a copy to add to my other games.

And the Friday the 13th theme is hilarious!

Weird Chips (Lays)

Even Lays has different chip flavors they produce around the world. Here's a few:
I guess Seaweed flavor is really that popular in the East. I'd still try it just out of curiosity.
Megan bought Cheesy Garlic Bread flavor but got tired of eating them quick. I imagine the same would be said for Srirachi and Chicken and Waffles. (though the last one I'm interested in at least giving a try)
Don't know what flavor this is...but I'd still try it!
Caesar Salad and Grilled Cheese and Ketchup and The Nacho platter one on the end would be flavors Megan would definitely try.  The Maple Syrup flavor would stay on the shelf.
Wasabi Ginger and Cappuccino. I would try the first one due to the "Ginger" which I think would taste awful. And the 2nd one because I don't like cappuccinos in the first place.
Mint Chips. So after eating these what would your breathe smell like? I'll never know.
Ok, let's do this. Mango Salsa, no. Bacon Mac and Cheese, maybe. But that's because of the Bacon.
Lime flavor. Yuck! Never in a million years.
What do you know? They have a Crab flavor too. I'd still try it.
Lobster flavor. Different, but I'd try it!
Cucumber. Big seller overseas supposedly but it wouldn't be for me!
Milk Chocolate. Blech! Again, I wouldn't eat something that sweet!
Avocado and Lime. I might try this because I can't imagine what it would taste like.

Ok folks, that's all for now. C-ya later!

Weird Chips (Walkers & misc)

So there's this company in the UK which makes some interesting (and disgusting) chip flavors as well!
Chili & Chocolate. Hot AND Spicy..but it looks a little too much on the sweet side and I couldn't do it!
Cajun Squirrel. I have no idea what this flavor taste like, but because "squirrel" is in the title, I'd try them.
Lamb and Mint. Mom used to make this every Easter for dinner. Thankfully she stopped doing that this year. I hated eating it then, why would I eat the chips now?
Steak and Onion. Oh yeah, it's on! If I ever see this bag a chips I'm getting my snack on!
Worcester Sauce and Roast Chicken. Yes to both. Batting 4 for 6 right now.
English Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding. The roast beef sounds good but Yorkshire Pudding? The titles a little unsettling if you ask me.
 German Bratwurst Sausage. Ummm...nope!
Cheese and Onion. I should say "No" but being honest with myself I think I'd try a few of these just to see.
Ok, it's not Walkers brand but Sloppy Joe flavor?! Ick.
Prawn Cocktail. I have no idea nor want to know what this is.

See ya tomorrow folks!

Weird Chips (Pringles)

Today I thought I'd talk about weird chip flavors that are out there and if I'd try them or not.
Soft Shell Crab, Grilled Shrimp and Seaweed. Not available in the US (of course) but would I try them? Meh, Crab and Seaweed maybe, but the Shrimp flavor seems a little too much for my taste. (pun intended)
Pumpkin Pie Spice, White Chocolate Peppermint and Cinnamon and Sugar, all available in the US. (seasonal) I wouldn't try a single one of them. Sweet chips?! YUCK!! Not even the Pringles name could change my mind on this.
Lemon and Sesame and Blueberry and Hazelnut. (Not offered in the US) and thank goodness for that! Again, sweet chips seem nasty, I wouldn't try either of these at all.
Tuscan Red Pepper, Thai Sweet Chili and Italian Bruschetta. I'd try all 3. I LOVE spicy hot favors and all three of these fit the bill!
 Cheeseburger. Oh yes. Nuff said.
Pig in Blankets. What?! Really?! I'm not sure I'd try these even if they are available here. Why even have this flavor?!
Ketchup. A hugely popular flavor in Canada and though Megan would buy them in a second, I wouldn't eat a single one.
Smokin' Ribs, Wasabi, Chili Sauce and Cheese and Chili. Yes to all 4! Like I said, I love hot flavors so these flavors are right up my ally!
Dill Pickle. I would try this chip...and probably regret it soon after.
