Issue #1000

Issue #900

The story was about Megan taking me to 6 Flags for the first time. I knew at this time 1000 would be coming along in the next few years.

Some of the stories I ,thought about doing for it got done before I hit 1000 and I'm glad. Issue #1000 couldn't be just another 1-shot plot line like all the others it had to be something way more special than that.

And in just a few more minutes I'll be proud to give you #1000.

I can't wait!!!

Issue #800

This was the "wedding" issue between Megan and I. It came out about 4 years ago, just 1 year after our marriage.

As for being the last one? I knew that wouldn't happen. I had enough plots lines for several comics. One of them (hilariously chronicling the life of a mutual friend of ours) is still one of the most read series I've ever had!

Ideas were already formulating for if I reached 1000 in time before Cardco's 20 Anniversary.

Issue #700

This is the last She-devil appearance in the books. It was also the issue where I finally came back to life. (you'll learn more in issue #1000) It was also Megan's first appearance in the book which places this about 5 years ago.

I was happy to make this the end, but when Megan expressed more comics for her I knew it wasn't. With all the material I had built up I'd be making them for a least a few hundred and maybe one day (I thought) when I'm older, I'll pen issue #1000 with my son.

I seriously thought that! LOL I thought it was going to be decades before I'd get to 1000 and now here it is only hours away from being posted!

Unbelievable!

Issue #600

She-devil's still the villain and the jokes are non-stop. This was one of the more funnier "century" books I wrote. Lots of humor in it.

In the introduction you can tell I'm even crossing my fingers for 700 to make because I had a great idea of what it would be. I even imaged it as being my "final" comic....again.

Issue #500

So here I was, 500. It was at this point I knew I'd make it to 600 and that it was only a matter of time. But I also hinted in the book that 600 might be my last.

I hate to sound repetitive but just about every time I made one of these I felt that way. There was no possibility in my mind I would make it this far?!

You'll notice I stopped using the ole garage sale stickers as decorations on the borders. Not because I didn't want to it's just that I'd run out of them at the time and was too lazy to get up and buy some for the cover. In fact, I never used them for the "century" covers again.

Issue #400

When I'd finally gotten to 400 I knew what story I wanted to do....my death. I'd thought about doing it years ago for issue #50 but held off because it wasn't the right time.

I have a reputation for killing off characters in my comics. In fact, a lot of folks who got to be in them were eventually killed off so it was only a matter of time before I decided to kill off myself.

I also thought my comic book request would draw to a close soon so I wanted to now instead of risk not being able to get to 500.

So how did I die? You'll find out when you read issue #1000 later on today.

Issue #300

300 is special because it's the first time the arch villain "she-devil" is introduced. This character would be my go-to villain for just about every "century" issue following because there were always a million jokes to get out of it.

This point began the "boom" for Cardco Comix. I was getting more request everyday and was drawing comics all the time. I was pretty sure I'd take it close to 400 but I thought it would take another couple of years.

Boy was I wrong!

Issue #200

When Issue #200 came out it had been 10 years since my first comic. I didn't make that many back in the day because I only did them upon request and the request were coming in every few months. So when I made it to #200 I knew there'd be more but I just didn't think it'd be enough to take it all the way to 300.

The story was about my new roommate moving in and so I gave it a "New beginnings" theme, to indicate that life goes on even after your friends have left. (married and moved out)

Honestly I thought I'd make 5 more comic books and stop after this. Crazy to think that now right?

Issue #100

The first "century" book I came out with...and I thought it'd be my last one too! I remember thinking "Wow, I can't believe I actually wrote 100 of these things!"

When I was cutting grass in high school I used to day dream about getting to #50, so it was pretty amazing just to accomplish this.

The story was about both of my roommates getting engaged, moving out of the apartment and leaving me all alone. It was an abandonment joke that they both got a good laugh out of. When I thought this was my last issue, the ending fit well.

But little did I know...

Countdown to issue #1000

The 1000th and final issue of Cardco Comix will be released online later on today, but before it is I'd like to spend the day talking about the previous milestone comics that came out before it.
See ya soon!

Otter Show pics

This mime pirate was hilarious. He was making fun of almost everyone that walked thru the gate. He provided the pre-show entertainment and was really funny.

Thankfully Megan and I slipped by without becoming part of his show.
The First Mate of the Pirate Ship.
They even training a ferret to do this throughout the show. Most impressive!
Here's the "shipwrecked" otter and his pal.
At the end they had a walrus come out, speak and then shake around to music. I tried to get it on video but was laughing too hard to realize I never hit record, so that "video gold" is a thing of past now. Dang it!

The Otter Show (2)

K, that's all for now. I'll share some pics of the show with you tomorrow!

The Otter Show (1)

One thing we didn't do last time at Sea World was see this show, so I wanted to check it out on our 2nd time around. It was more entertaining than I thought. I loved the humor and the amount of training they did was really spectacular.

Here's a video from the show. I post another later on today.

November Movie Preview

Time to look at what movies are coming out next month and the pickings ain't slim either!
Catching Furr

Ha ha ha ha ha! This romantic comedy is sure to bring joy to everyone who wastes their hard earned cash to see it... but that won't be me!
 Ender's Game

Now THIS is cinematic magic! So many times I've been tempted to read the book and now I just mught have to. Everything about this looks good. Harrison Ford + Sci-fi is a win in this case.

Thor: The Dark Realm

I love how the Thor movies avoid the appearance of being Hollywood's "Farmer" trying to milk us for all our movie cash. Marvel's really done a fine job promoting this film and the story looks pretty good as well. Face it, who DOESN'T want to see Loki again?

My prediction is he'll be back fighting Thor in the 3rd movie once again and based on Tom Hiddleson's HUGE fan base in these films I wouldn't be surprised if he made another appearance in Avengers somewhere down the line.

 Oldboy (2013 Remake)

If you saw the original one, you were left in awe (and a little disgust at the end) but can the American remake live up to that? I'm interested but not sure if I'll make it to the silver screen to check it out. This may be one of them Redbox Rental nights for me.

Delivery Man

Please pray that Megan DOES NOT want to see this film when it comes out because it looks AWFUL! I is love me some Vince Vaughn but he movie decisions have taken a dip in recent years.

The Wolf on Wall Street

Oh dang. This looks good. Not the biggest Leo fan but he sure knows how to pick his movies. Story seems fantastic and I can't wait to try it out in theaters.

What about you? Any comments, suggestions or anger at my mocking of Catching Fury?

Leave a message.

Picture from the Dolphin Show

Looks like that camera I gave Megan a few years back really paid off! She got some great pics. Enjoy!
